EXCEL CONSTRUCTION LA

This was a lesson in you get what you paid for. Excel clearly underbid on our project and the project managers were inexperienced. Promises were made that they couldn't keep, or at the very least we were told things were possible, when they clearly weren't once a professional was consulted. At the end, we had to hire painters to come in and redo all the painting they did in the interior of the house. They put in the kitchen appliances after the remodel, yet failed to connect the refrigerator and dishwasher to a water source. Although the project managers were nice and responsiveness, what should have been a 2-month project took over 5-months and required a lot of corrections.

Excellent, very professional, clean, fast crew. Finished work on time. Roof looks great :-) Will definitely hire Excel for my next project. Eyal was lovely to work with.

Excel Construction can do it all. Eyal and his team are professionals from start to finish. We have done four projects with them over the years: deck construction, interior remodeling, stucco work, painting and plaster work. Give them shot -- you won't be disappointed.

Eyal is very effecient. His work is exemplary! He made the whole process of dealing with my insurance company bearable and made it as productive as possible!

The job which was performed was great, the job was completed in one day. It was clean, fast and the crew was out and completed to city inspector satisfactory.

First of all this is my second good experience with Angie's List; I have another great contractor, but unfortunately his schedule is tied up so I was referred to Excel Construction L.A by friends. They had a very flexible scheduling of the installation and they went above and beyond to accommodate my needs (I travel a lot). As far as the workmanship I am very pleased with the outcome, the system looks very sleek and compact versus the other one. In addition to that the new duct work were installed very neat and clean and also fixed an air problem in the bedroom thanks to the new ducting. I highly recommend to get an estimate from them and hire them for smooth experience.

Excel Construction are a first class operation from start to finish. We had a lot of work to do, and they were very professional and accommodating. Their plaster and drywall work were particularly good. Eyal is a contractor who cares about the details, and won't quit until everyone is satisfied. I have never worked with a more understanding and ethical person in the construction business. As with all large scale jobs, we hit some unexpected hiccups, but Eyal and Julio were always just a phone call away to fix the problems. Will definitely be using Excel in future. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I had a really smooth experience. We had our master bathroom re-done and paid about $16,000 +/- and now we spend more time in the bathroom than we ever did before. We love the work that was done and highly recommend using Excel Construction LA, Eyal is a sweetheart.

I had them look at wood rot repair and they decided the roof needed replacing. They thought just replacing the wood rot was not enough so they never did the job. They decided the job was too big.

The people at Excel Construction LA are amazing. We had a tenant moving in in a week, and we needed the unit completely redone - totally repainted, floors replaced - the works. Anyone we called, told us we were crazy. Eyal and Julio at Excel just made it happen. They were completely professional, they did a gorgeous, perfect job - we could not be happier. And they worked unbelievably hard to get it done within our timeline. I could not say better things about them. We have another job we need done and I am absolutely calling them. Thank you Excel Construction LA!!!

It went well. They agreed on $250 more because there was some painting that needed to be done after he repaired the exterior part of the house.

Overall was excellent and the job came out extremely well. The project manager Julio was nice & knowledgeable and walked us through the process & timeline. A little more expensive than a couple other bids, but well worth the money! Would highly recommend.

Great. Everyone was courteous, prompt and did great work.

Initially Excel was hired to fix dry rot per their ad, but the price kept escalating as the scope of needed and recommended repairs increased. Because it is often difficult to know what repairs are necessary until the dry rot is fully exposed and investigated, some escalation could be expected, but in our case the final price was triple the original estimate. A key reason for this increase was the cost of replacing the old circuit box, which blew while the contractor was running their power equipment. On the plus side, the quality of Excel's work was excellent and they did deliver fully on their promises, and they were very honest and responsive to our requests. By continuing to follow up, well after the work was completed, to remind DWP to install the new electric meter, they went above and beyond the call of duty. The sticker shock has now worn off and we intend to call Excel again on our future home repair and improvement projects.

They visited in a timely manner, and emailed with a list of materials we needed to provide, or they would be charging us for the time it took to purchase materials, in addition to the repair. We had some challenges with starting the project on time, and they worked with us to set up a time that worked out. That was when the problems began. I was at work when the contractor and worker looked at the "Bondo" that I purchased for the patching of the garden window was not the "correct" type. My spouse said O.K., and the worker went to the store to purchase the "correct" kind. When he returned, he had purchased what looked like a different amount of the same kind of "Bondo" that I purchased, A joist was also purchased for the job (when during the original inspection of the job, they expressly told me when I asked them, that one was NOT needed to do the repair). Other items had been purchased that had nothing to do with our job, and yet the whole receipt was handed to my spouse. The breezeway roof rot was repaired, and a primer coat was applied. They did not finish the job in the one day they suspected it would take. The worker said he would come back the next day. When the worker arrived, at 11:00 a.m., he worked until 11:30, and then knocked on the door and said he forgot something at home. He said that he needed to go get it, said that his home wasn't far away - just down the street, and would return soon. The worked still hadn't returned by 2:45, and so we called the contractor and told them that we had to leave to go to a Doctor's appointment, and we could not get the message to the worker. The boss (Eyel) said that he didn't know where the worker might be. When told that we wouldn't be back until 4:15, we were told to leave our gate open for the worker. We said "No", and he said "No problem" and that he was sorry about the worker leaving. The worker didn't come back until 5:30 p.m. By that time, it had sprinkled a bit. The worker put their Bondo on the area to be repaired, without cleaning or sanding the affected area of the Garden Window - while wet from the rain- and put a bit more Bondo on teh front patio area. He left at 5:55 p.m. after saying he would be back the next day. We weren't planning on it taking so many days, and we were unavailable. When we mutually agreed on a time for the project to be finished, the worker painted over the primer with the wrong color paint, and painted the garden window, and then left. Another day, the contractor came by and asked to settle up for the extra purchases on the receipt, and after being told that many of the items were not used for our project, we paid what was used.

The guy who came to check out the job was great. The guy who did the work was not the best. He was nice enough, but he should have had a helper. The wood is not hung straight because he was doing it on his own. He left all the rotted wood in the back yard and lots of big nails all over. Also, when he gave me the receipt for the supplies, he neglected to tell me there was a circular saw on it! Good thing I was paying attention. Overall, seems like it cost a lot and the work wasn't great. Guy in charge never even followed up to see if I was satisfied with the work. Not great.

Great crew turned up. Great workers attitudes. Able to trouble shoot problems that came up at a reasonable price.

Originally bought the deal because I had noticed some areas of wood rot in the back of the house. When the gentleman came, he said that the work would take 2-3 days. He offered me a deal on the work and we set a date. On The morning of the job however, his crew got into an accident on the way to the site. Scratch one day off from work. We rescheduled the work for the following week. 2 guys came and worked diligently over the next 2 days and got the work done. There were some strong chemical smells from the wood filler they used for a couple of days but I suppose that is to be somewhat expected. They color matched the original paint and repainted the work areas too. Overall the work looks professional. I wish it were a bit cheaper though.

Excellent diagnosis, the problem was fixed fast. Julio stripped free the plank, painted it all in the time quoted. Very happy with the work. Great company. Great craftsmanship.

I just couldn't be happier. Eyal and Maya are both real pros and know what they're doing both workwise (Eyal) and business wise (Maya) Though I thought I was just going to have some wood rot repaired, the damage was much more extensive than I had even thought. The two guys who worked on the house were great and I would highly recommend Excel Construction to anyone looking for a perfect job!
