Al was courteous on the phone and arrived exactly when he said he would. I showed him the mailbox and explained that it was original to the house and could not be replaced. He said that he could repair it by drilling into the side of the door and replacing the pin with a new screw. Unfortunately when he drilled he broke off a corner of the door and ended up wiring it in place. When I saw what had happened and what he had done I was sort of shocked, it looked very "mickey moused." I told him that this it did not look right at all and that it was not what I was expecting based on what we had discussed as far as the repair. He told me that I didn't have to pay him if I didn't want to since he had broken the door. I don't know why but I paid him anyway...in hindsight I wish I hadn't paid him. The mailbox looks far worse than before and it cannot be replaced...
Description of Work: I hired Al to repair an antique, cast iron mailbox that was original to my 1936 home. One side of the mailbox door was hanging because the pin had broken.

He showed up for our initial consult in a timely fashion, and rearranged his schedule to accommodate my immediate needs (readying my house for sale.) On the morning he was to perform the work, he called in advance to tell me he'd be late due to a traffic problem in his area. When he arrived, he immediately got to work. I appreciated his professionalism and efficiency. I wouldn't hesitate to use his services in the future and have already recommended him to friends.
Description of Work: Al did a variety of things for me, including; replacing the locks on my front door, removing a strip from the bottom of a shower door to make it open and close easily, fixing some fixtures in my kitchen, and a few other minor projects.
