C K Lock

II first called this company (locally known as Alert Lock & Key, a subdivision of ABC Locksmiths, a large corporation with local shops throughout at least the Western U.S.) on Friday at about noon. They promised they would send someone out the same day, at about 4 pm, but called at about 3:30 pm to say they could not make it, but would come at a time convenient for me the next day. I scheduled an appointment for Saturday, between noon and 2 pm; the locksmith showed up, without calling in advance at about 11:30. No big deal, but that is the only reason I did not rate them A for promptness. The locksmith seemed to very honest, quoting me two different prices, one for cleaning, repairing, and adjusting the lock. The lock was estimated to be about 60 years old, so had already seen its best days. He told me he could not provide any warranty for option (although the invoice states that there is a 30 day warranty. The prices for this was $285, which included a $55 "service call" charge. This seemed to be a bit on the pricey side, but cheap compared with the alternative which was taking pictures of the old lock, then trying to find a comparable new lock that would fit, at a cost of approximately $400 to $500. Since I was not prepared to pay this much, I went with the first option. After he completed the job, he admitted that he will negotiate a price, but only if it is done by telephone before he comes out. Thinking like a typical American, I never thought of doing this. So if you decide to use this service, try to negotiate the price down before they come out. In summary, I think this company has integrity, but one can probably do better price wise. One last comment: this same company re-keyed my house in 2003, and talked me into buying the Primus(R) system. Duplicate keys can only be made by this same company, a require an special ID, which was given to me at the time it was first re-keyed. The advantage is that the key cannot be duplicated except as above), and thus is more secure. I did this at the time because I had a teenage daughter, and was worried about how many of her boyfriends might wind up with a copy. in 2003, it cost about $5 per copy. Eleven years later, the price for a duplicate key had risen to $25. The locksmith advised me not to get any duplicates unless I really needed them.

Called CK based on Angie's review and deal offered. Amy arrived as scheduled, told me my Baldwin entry lockset couldn't be 'serviced', and would probably need replacing. He did service and re-key four Schlage locks and made a new key. He also used our service call to go to my mother-in-law's home to service her entry lockset which she'd tried to get done by other than "professionals", and he 'fixed' the problem without having to buy another replacement lockset. Amy was very professional, helpful, and pleasent to work with.

The bathroom door knob was a challenge since the door was not square. He did a great job on this installation and the door locks in the bedrooms was installed with no problems.

The provider's estimate for the job was prohibitive.

They were very responsive. They were excellent, they did what I wanted, they made suggestions where they thought they were needed and they did a good job. The price was well worth it. I wasn't unhappy at all and the quality was excellent. I would use them again, I kept their name and their phone number.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was misleading. It paid for his gas to come out, it didn't pay for his service. It was a misleading ad just to get them out here. It didn't pay for the work done so it was more money. They charged for the drive and then the service. It was an additional $100. He did the job. I didn't understand that it wasn't inclusive when I purchased it. I might use them again if I couldn't find anybody else to do it.

Prompt Experienced Additional repairs he suggested made for an excellent result

I bought the big deal because I have been unsuccessful with having keys made for house locks. I've tried two locksmiths, hardware stores, Home Depot, etc and the keys don't work. My objective was having C K Lock make the keys on site and then validate that they work. He wants to charge $65 to make keys or $25 to re-key locks. It feels like bait-and-switch to me. What I'd like from him now is a refund for the big deal because I would not use his services for any reason now.

Very impressive. I called around 8:00 this AM . An outside door lock was broken. I was told I could expect a repair service in about 1 hour. Acyually it was a little less than 1 hour when C K Lock arrived. Within a very few minutes we had a new lock installed and the serviceman was on his way. II am sorry I didn't get his name but he sure knew what he was doing. He gave several options and understood my need completely. I learned that this gentlemen had many years of experience. How refreshing it is to have a service provider know exactly what the y were doing. He keyed the new lock to the old key so we wouldn;t have to deal with separate keys for the house.. This was a very positive experience.

The service turned out just fine. I didn't have any complaints.

The locksmith was very helpful, suggesting less expensive alternatives. Professional and competent! This is the second time I've used him and I would call him again for help if I needed it.

C.K. Lock turned out fine. They were prompt and friendly. I didn't spend more than the big deal purchase.

They were cool. I called them up and guy was at my place within 30 minutes and did the job. It cost me a bunch more to have the labor done. The deal was pretty much a free house call and I had to pay the regular fee for the work. The cost was kind of cheap but I figured since they were here I might as well get the job done. I wish it was more clear what kind of deal I purchased so I am not surprised when I am quoted a whole lot more.

Finding CK lock had been a miracle! I am a real estate broker and providing good service for my clients is my goal CK and there team always do a great job and I will keep on hiring and referring them to others. I purchased an Angies List service call special for 19.99. They said I needed a new lock cylinder so I had it installed. The job went smoothly but I thought the price of $149. was a bit high.

I wasn't here for the actual service, but a few weeks later the new base plate for the knob popped off. I've tried to fix it, but it just won't stay on. Update: they called and offered to come fix it after seeing my review. I just don't have the time though.

The staff of C K Lock was very pleasant to deal with and very prompt. I was very pleased with the service.

It went very good and I was very happy. They came on time and did the job. I also like the workers and they were very professional.

He arrived within an hour and took less than an hour to perform the services I needed. Timely, experienced, had materials with him. Wonderful experience and I like having a locksmith in my rolodex now!

We had to replace our locks and it ended up costing more than I expected. I think if we searched further, we could have paid less to have our locks replaced. From a price standpoint, it was pretty expensive.

Easily scheduled a visit with one promptly answered phone call. Ami arrived on time and inspected the two gate locks. Found no problems with the locks. He did not try to sell any additional hardware or service. Entire visit was friendly and professional. Will use this company again when needed.
