This is not a full review as the problem fixed itself before we needed their full service. HOWEVER, I will be using them in the future to service our heat and air for regular maintenance needs. The reason I am posting this is because their customer service and responsiveness was EXCELLENT. Abbey was extremely helpful and responsive and was happy to help with our problem the same day. Again I cannot speak to the actual work however judging from past reviews and the way he dealt with us on the phone and level of professionalism I am anticipating good things. Abbey we will be in touch for a regular maintenance call very soon.

Abbey and his crew came to our rescue on the same day -- professional, kind, and experienced. We are grateful considering it is hard to get same day service especially with temps in the 90's. They quickly fixed our broken air conditioner and checked our other units to make sure they are working properly. We highly recommend using them. We will be using them in the future for maintenance.

This is the 2nd time that Abbey has done work for is. The first time was in December 2010, when he installed the air conditioning/heating unit on the roof and replaced the thermostat. Because of the holidays, I neglected to write a review. What particularly impressed me at that time was that he was willing to speak with our daughter, who is an HVAC engineer. After getting off the phone with him, she told me that the price was reasonable and to go ahead with his company. He wanted to get the unit installed before the month ended, because prices were going up in the new year. We were happy with his work, and when our air conditioner went out last Friday night, we waited until Monday to call Abbey. He came out soon after the call, got onto the roof to evaluate the problem, and told me that the motor was still under the 10 year warranty. On Thursday morning he and 2 assistants came out to replace the motor and to do maintenance on the unit (which had some corrosion on it). He also brought us a pleated filter, which he explained would put less pressure on the motor than the one we were using. He wants us to use this pleated type and to replace it every 2 months. Also the efficiency of newer air conditioners required some adjustments of the vents. We had expected to pay much more than we did and were very pleased again with his prompt resolution to our air conditioner problem.
Description of Work: Replaced the indoor blower motor of the air conditioning/heating unit and also did maintenance on it.

I simply cannot say enough good things about Mr. Borghei and the Banner Air team. My A/C unit is 34 years old, and when it stopped blowing cold air, I thought I was doomed. But Mr. Borghei arrived at my home Saturday morning (at the height of the a/c repair season, I might add)-when he said he'd be there. He took one look at the machine, told me it was over 30 years old (which I knew). then he first tested the fuses, found one was out, replaced it, then continued to perform the regular maintenance, all while telling me stories about the history of the particular unit. Given the age of my machine and my 'expertise" He could have convinced me that it was unserviceable, and gotten me to spend 3-5,000 on a new one, and I would not have never questioned it. But he didn't. He was honest and a pleasure to work with. He was easy to reach, with regular and prompt communication throughout the entire experience. he was fair and when my unit goes I will buy a new one from him. he was also fast, it only took about 45 minutes for the entire service call, and we had to traipse up and down to the roof of my condo building a couple times. Its no wonder Banner Air has made the Angie's super service list three years running. Highly recommended.

He knows what he does. If there is a part he has to replace, he shows me the part before and why he has to replace. He is very professional, does a good job and is always on time. He didn’t charge me anything for the last visit because he had to go up and look at something. When he saw it, he told me what it was so he asked me what to fix. He finds out what needs to be done and informs me and then we go ahead.

We contacted Banner Air when our Heating System stopped working on a cold (sarcasm) Southern California day. Call was immediately answered and appointment scheduled. They were able to send someone out on a Saturday and assess the situation. We were given repair and replacement options and decided upon full replacement given moderate chance of a repair working long term (the FAU was old). Banner ordered the new unit for us and installed a few days later without requesting any upfront deposit. We would definitly work with Banner Air again!

When we do decide to get the work done we will ONLY use Abbey and his Company BANNER!! I recommend Abbey one million percent. Abbey and Banner are the most genuine and last of their kind in service and customer service!!I have never met such honest and knowledgeable people with heating and air as Abbey and Banner. I Thank God for this earth angel truly. November 23rd Abbey came to my house as we now had the money to help fix the problem, he was so wonderful, quickly he became like family and much like a friend we had known for years. This is very rare these days. Abbey fixed my heater, and when I save enough money I am going to have Abbey and His company, replace the unit itself. It took an hour to do what he needed to do, on my roof where the unit was. My unit is 16 years old, but Abbey got it to run , and we are so amazed at his skill and expertise. I have never in my life done business with such a company who is not only honest with his work, but actually knows what they are doing, and does not up-sell, or try and make money at your expense. Abbey is very valuable to our world, he is the last of his kind, in humanity as well as business. This is the way business used to be run many years ago. God Bless you Abbey and the work of your hands, may you always have plenty and may God meet all of your needs to overflowing. I humbly thank you for the exemplary job you did, and the new friendship we established ...
Description of Work: I met with Abbey. He went up on the roof as well as entered our home. He let us know exactly what we needed. Abbey was honest and kind. He did not try to upsell at all.

Abbey was amazing. Not only was here at the time specified and fixed the burnt out capacitor we had, but also took the time to check the rest of the system AND crafted PVC fittings to guide the condensation away from where the original installer had it because it was dripping onto the gas line and rusting it. He went above and beyond.

He presented himself in a timely and professional manner. My air conditioning did not start. He discovered the problem which was not complicated according to him. He fixed it and cleaned the AC. We were vulnerable at the time because it was hot and felt Banner could have taken advantage of the situation which they did not. Technician was curteous and efficient. I would heartily recommend to my friends and family and intend to use them for annual maintenance from now on.

This was a one day job which banner squeezed in just before our first spring heat wave. The old duct work was put in by some one with no experience. The hook up to the family room wasn't even hooked up, among many other problems. Banner's owner redesigned the duct work reordering the priority of the ducts for more efficient heating and cooling. All duct work was hung from the rafters and metal elbows and tees were used at junctions effectively replacing the heap of spaghetti and duct tape lying on the attic floor of the old system. The family room is now effectively cooled and the rest of the house is quickly and evenly cooled. Banners new system is very efficient, and is sure to save us on heating and cooling bills in the future.

Upon moving into our new home, we noticed that all of the supply registers and adjacent walls had been blackened by the air that had come through over time. Additionally, we had seen the prior owner?s utility bills, and knew they were very high. An insulation contractor, upon seeing the attic, suggested that we might want to replace the ductwork in the attic instead of sealing it. We became concerned that we might have asbestos in the ducts, and had lived in the house for 3 weeks without daring to turn on the A/C. I received three referrals, but chose Banner Heating and Air Conditioning because I learned the owner, Abbey Borghei, has an engineering background and 30 years of experience in this field, in addition to a stellar reputation. I already had high expectations, but Abbey exceeded them because of his integrity, consulting skills, professionalism, and his attention to detail and quality. He personally supervises each job, and took the time to review the work with us after it was completed, showing us the new features and calling attention to any small compromises made, asking us was that acceptable or did we want them to take an alternative route. He made sure we understood what is required to maintain our systems and air quality, so that we avoid future problems. We thought we didn?t have an air filter, because there was nothing behind our return register except dirty plenum, but Abbey found it underneath the furnace, which helped explain why it had not been changed in a year. He moved it from that difficult-to-access place to a much more convenient location inside the return register. I had a thermostat from my prior home, something I had bought on Amazon that turned out not to be easy to install, and Abbey took the time to figure out how to make it work in our new home ? free of charge. Abbey is a good listener and took note of our priorities. He is one of those rare contractors who can place himself in the buyer?s shoes and present a comprehensive solution, making many suggestions consistent with our goals and priorities, and providing referrals to other contractors we might want to use. I learned a lot of valuable things about my house from Abbey, and now we have peace of mind, as well as cool air, when we turn on the A/C.

There was an older gentleman and a younger gentleman who came out to look at my a/c unit. The younger guy came out under the house w/me in the crawl space to look at it and told me everything looked fine on the unit. Both of us could see there was no water coming out of the a/c or on the ground underneath it. He was putting back on the panel to the a/c and said we were going to go up to the attic to look at the other part of the unit. At which point I got back out of the crawl space. Abbey Borghei, the older guy then came over to speak with me and was trying to up-sell me. Abbey began giving the younger guy instructions to work on the a/c and after he did this, there was water leaking from the unit. It wasn't like that before. There was a puddle of water on the ground. Then I asked them to leave.

Response from Banner Air Conditioning Co
In regards to our conversation on Monday, May 13, 2013, we set up an appointment to perform maintenance on your home comfort equipment system for Thursday, May 16, 2013. Upon arrival I supervised my employee during, which time he checked the heating operation, cleaned the sensors of the furnace. He then proceeded by closing the furnace panel. Upon operation of the furnace, the blower motor started right up. What the blower motor does is that it sends air through the evaporator coil. However, in this case there was water leaking from your old, rusted, and corroded evaporator’s coil. In my expert opinion, there shouldn’t be any water in your evaporator’s coil. My first instinct is to perform my troubleshooting skills, which is a process of problem elimination (to find the water leak problem and fixing it). Also, in my scientific knowledge, it doesn’t take a couple of minutes to produce rust and in any case rust doesn’t suddenly occur within minutes nor could it have occurred in one day. Additionally, On May 16, 2013; I personally found your evaporator coil is old, rusted and corroded, which didn’t suddenly occur. I also, noticed a water puddle and a hole in the solid, dirt ground (directly underneath) the rusted coil. The water hole was approximately 2 square feet (2ft²). The surrounding puddle and hole had visible moisture on the ground and the surrounding ground is damp, which was associated to a water leak from somewhere in the system through the evaporator’s coil. The development of that hole and/or the water puddle in the solid ground couldn’t possibly have occurred in those couple of minutes nor could it have occurred in one day. I believe over time (maybe a year or two) that that hole is a result of a water leak, which has seeped in through your rusted, corroded coil. It is fair to say; upon your request to perform maintenance; I would have to first conduct an inspection. Upon my commencement to perform an inspection of your entire system at NO additional nor at any extra cost to you to inspect and finding the cause of this leak, but to no avail you have halted my inspection. My next move was to inspect your water drain line, but you didn’t allow me to. Furthermore, as I have pointed out to you that you have a water leak somewhere in your system, which has resulted in your rusted and corroded coil. I have been in the HVAC business for over 31 years. I am very honest and I am a problem solver professional. My first priority is safety for all of my customers. It is fair to say; as I have mentioned to you (several times), if we don’t solve that water leak issue and/or fix/replace your rusted and corroded coil; it will result in a future mold problem, which will spread from underneath your home, to the adjoining rooms in your home. Also, mold is very costly to remove. Therefore, in my expert recommendation, please be advised, due to the fact this may become a health risk; I really do hope that you can get your water leak fixed from somewhere in your system and from underneath your home to avoid further damage. This water leak problem may incur in a future mold problem, as well as, pulmonary, respiratory, health problems. My best regards to you into finding a company that is truthfully honest with you as I have been. I recommend the inspection of your drain line, as well, as to fix your water leak and/or replace your old, rusted, corroded coil all together.

Due to the high volume of calls and current customer set appointments, we weren't able to accommodate same day service. As of yesterday, being the 13th of February, 2013; we are still booked solid for the next two days installing high quality equipment as well as already set repairs for parts already received. I'm sorry if you have to wait in line after my current customers. However, we have an opening for a Saturday morning appointment, if you are still interested. I am so sorry we do not have anything sooner. I do apologize for this inconvenience.

During recent cold snap, I contacted Banner A/C & Heating on a Sunday afternoon when entire home heating went out. Got through to a live person, and received an appointment for Monday morning. They came out, surveyed and diagnosed a new motor was needed for replacement in 20+ year old blower unit. Boss came back the next day, with full crew, performed the needed work with extreme care to clean all parts thoroughly, cleaned up all work areas of debris, also cleaned air conditioning compressor without my needing to ask while they were on site (no charge). I inquired about also putting in a new thermostat, and they did on the spot. Rates were very reasonable, and workers were very courteous, polite, and careful. Would definitely recommend as well as use again.

Abbey and his 2 assistants were professional and the initial servicing went fine. To install the condensation pump, I needed some electrical work done, and Abbey recommended a good electrician. Abbey returned to install the pump. They encountered some issues, which they worked through and left. The next day, I noticed water leaking inside my condo from the A/C equipment in the ceiling area. Abbey returned and fixed the issue, which consisted of jamming towels up inside the older unit to keep the water collection pan level so that the water would drain properly. The problem happened again the next day, so I went to Home Depot and got a block of wood to keep the water collection pan level. The issue has not returned.

Banner's office staff was courteous and could send someone out the next day. When main tech came out, there was also an assistant. The two checked out A/C unit and furnace panel, and reported that the furnace door was put back on improperly ("jammed on") from the last service call by the other company, which prevented the reset button from popping back out to reset the A/C. For removing my furnance cover and pressing a little button, that company charged me $75 (after I asked for the Angie's list discount). The standard call was $85. They did not have a very common filter to replace the "washable" filter that the last company had installed either. It was a very expensive service call for almost no work - they were here maybe 10 minutes. I feel that $40 - $50 would have been a fair service call charge. I would not use this company again.
Description of Work: We had our A/C serviced and checked in late Spring by another Angie's List provider offering a Big Deal. At the time, everything was reported to be in great condition. We recently ran the AC for the second time this summer, and found that it just would not turn on. After testing the connections ourselves and determined it was not a panel electrical problem, we called original A/C company who did the maintenance. First that office did not answer the phone, then it was unable to send someone out that day, so I called Banner AC Company.

I received a call from the member indicating her air conditioning unit wasn’t working and her usual hvac company weren’t returning her phone calls, nor responding to her messages. She needed her a/c working that same day and she wanted to know how much I would charge. I told her the amount I charge for a service call is $85.00. She agreed with the amount and she gave me all of her information. I arrived that same day to find the a/c not working at all. I followed my trouble-shooting protocol technique by way of problem elimination on her cooling system. I found the problem within the 15 minutes and deducted $10.00 off of her service call bill. However, I performed an inspected on her whole cooling system, as well as her heating system (where I found the problem with the reset button) and to make sure her whole system was operating properly and no other problems would arise. I was there an additional ½ hour conducting a full inspection so that nothing else would go wrong. My travel time to get to her house was an additional ½ hour, including the high rise in gas expense and labor. I am an honest HVAC Engineer and I am a trouble-shooting specialist. I am praised by my work by my current customers and I never overcharge for any of my services. I do believe in good workmanship values and her previous hvac company should have performed a full operation on her system before leaving. This should have been under her previous hvac company’s labor warranty. Maybe she can get reimbursed from her previous hvac company.
