We paid about 800 for the warranty for the home. It is worth exactly zero. This company told us when they come to look at the plumbing it was normal for the hot water to go out in the bathroom. They said the only way to fix it was to beat on the walls. They told us a bunch of stories which we proved them to be wrong. They charged $35 a trip and I had them come out twice and they never fixed a thing. We called a plumber who only charged us $55 and he fixed everything no problem. It only had a bad valve. I have discontinued using them. We also had them take a look at the pump in the pool. The home inspector said the pump was working and when we moved in it did not work. We called the home warranty company and they said it was a preexisting condition. We had paper work showing them it was not and they refused to fix it.
Description of Work: I had them come in and repair the plumbing in the house.

On our first repair over a year ago, the repair company Alliance Home Warranty chose sent out people who had no idea what they were doing. They ordered the wrong part even after we told them it was the wrong part and it took over two months for HAW to end up calling Sears who fixed it in one visit. Our cooktop had a problem not too long ago and the repair company who came out didn't even show the first time after waiting for five hours, the second time, the repairman was late, the third visit which I thought would actually be the repair was a kid who was there to verify the first guy. So, on the fourth visit, they had the part, but wouldn't actually removed the cooktop since it was caulked in. We ended up just replacing it for which HAW paid us what they would have paid the repair company. When we had a dishwasher problem, HAW insisted we use the company who "tried" to fix the cooktop and when I asked for a different one, they claimed that since I didn't file a complaint, there was nothing they could do. We are now waiting on the third visit from this repair company because he didn't check it out more thoroughly the first time and didn't have all the parts he needed for the second attempt. We shall see how this goes. Today, we finally got them to send out Sears to repair the ice make that broke in our first dealings with HAW. Now, they claim that the first repair was a mistake and they do not cover ice dispensers. So, bottom like is don't use them because the will find every exception to cover your repair and they choose companies from the bottom of the barrel.
Description of Work: We have had this warranty company since it was provided when we bought our house two and a half years ago. They have sent out some of the worst repair companies with people who do not know what they are doing. It took them over two months to have someone out here to fix our Ice dispenser before finally getting Sears out to fix it in one day. Their "exceptions" are completely ridiculous and you cannot request a different repair company unless you had filed a complaint on the repair company they provided in a previous call. They are now refusing to cover a repair that they covered a year ago claiming that the first repair was a mistake. We are still waiting on a third visit to fix our dishwasher because the "repairman" didn't actually look at what need to be replaced. He just assumed and assumed wrong. We will not be using them again and I hope this warns anyone from using them in the first place.

My renters went without heat for at least six weeks. They came out around twelve times and couldn’t fix it. It was hard to get a hold of them. Alliance had sent out another company, but they had no skills at all. They kept blaming the previous workers for the fault. Finally after four weeks Alliance sent out yet another company and got the issue fixed. It was actually a simple process. They were inefficient and couldn’t do the job. They also weren’t willing to do any more than the bare minimum which wasn’t satisfactory. Alliance Home Warranty hadn’t helped out at all. My people froze for six weeks because they couldn’t fix the heater. It was a truly horrible experience.

I think I got it finally. Alliance Warranty has no plans to repair or replace my heater. My heater broke on 12/3 during the coldest month of the year. Alliance s technicians were sent out to repair. So far they have made 9 visits. Three times Alliance contractors were able to get the heater to work for 3 hours, for 1 day, for 3 days. According to Alliance service people the problem is minor: a valve, a loose wire, fuse. Two other contractors (one I contacted with Alliance s permission and the other Alliance sent out) said the fix was going to be expensive (needed manufacturer parts rather than make-do). When each of them called Alliance for authorization (average waiting time each call is 30 minutes) they were denied. Then Alliance sends back the first company to tell me it is a minor problem and the other companies are bogus, but Alliance contractors haven t been able to fix it. Today will be the 46th day working on this frustrating problem. My tenants have suffered hardship. I will have to pay for the cost of the repair myself, lost $55 in service call, lost about $500 for the useless Alliance Home Warranty contract, and rental income. One of the a/c heating companies says the contract has lots of disclaimers so taking them to court is probably useless. The only weapon I can see against this kind of rip offs is sharing my story. Alliance will take your money, but you won t get the promised peace of mind .

When we received the information about the home warranty, my husband said it best, as you do not get anything for free, and you don't. If you really expect your home warranty to cover repairs, you're wrong, especially if it's this company. They charge a $55 service fee for each visit and the companies they contract with are horrible! I had a minor A/C problem, and the company (Air Pride) failed to show up twice, plus the contact number was a cell phone with a full voice mailbox! The next company they sent, told us that as long as our unit was working, they do nothing further (it was making considerable noise). When our pool pump broke, the company they sent said they only fix units in ''working order'', no, I'm not kidding and they still charged the $55. Needless to say, any repair that I want to get done correctly, I need to hire a company, I find myself. This warranty is useless and will not be renewed.
Description of Work: I was provided with Alliance Home Warranty for NV, when I purchased my home. They were recommended by my real estate agent.
