My husband and I went through Angie’s List to obtain a list of contractors for our kitchen remodel. At the time, we were still debating between a 100% gut job or a more minor remodel so we interviewed 3 possible candidates. Adam and his brother, Jonathan from A+1 Design and Remodeling came to our home and listened to our design wishes. What immediately impressed us was how Adam took my design ideas (which I obtained from watching many DIY shows) and improving the design for a better layout, adding storage space, and an island. Before selecting A+ Design and Remodeling firm, we discussed timelines, projected remodeling costs, as well as our mutual expectations his company would provide both during and after the remodel. We were surprised at the 3 month projected timeline which Adam assured us was the realistic average even if DIY shows showed 3 weeks! Demolition began in September which was bad timing on our part due to the many upcoming year-end holidays. There were some delays, although most of the work was accomplished in a timely manner. Every workman who showed up was highly professional at his job, they took extreme care to minimize the noise level and dust debris since I was working from home at the time. The workman communicated with us when they were returning if the job took more than 1 day to complete. They always cleaned up after themselves at the days end. Adam or Jonathan maintained contact with us when delays were experienced and kept us informed on the next stage of the work to be done. The project eventually took 4 ½ months to complete from start to finish. Adam’s vision of the entire kitchen project far exceeded our expectations due to the materials used, workmanship, and overall design. We are extremely pleased with the end result and have already referred A+1 Design to several people we know. Our own and friends reaction to the final result is the same, WOW!

The representative, Adam, was very prompt and very friendly and seemed very knowledgeable and experienced with remodel construction.

My wife and I were incredibly impressed and more than satisfied by the work done by A+, and especially our experience with our project manager, Moshe. We were won over quickly by how appreciative they were of the historical details of our house and how committed they were with preserving or recreating them to maintain the character of our home. The project was to renovate our kitchen, turn a small half bathroom and laundry room into a large bathroom, and replace a carpeted floor with bamboo. My wife and I had never gone through a remodel before, but Moshe was an excellent resource and really helped us understand the process and lessen the disruption to our lives as much as possible, particularly by making sure that all major decisions were made before construction started, so we would not have to wait on making decisions or for appliances etc. to be delivered. Once the project started, Moshe came by our house nearly every day and was very available by phone or text if we ever had any questions or concerns. It also gave us the chance to check in with him every day so he could explain what was happening, the timeline of events, and to make sure no details were being missed and that the crew always understood what we were asking for. Working with Moshe was much more of a collaboration than I thought it would be, which was great because my wife and I were often asking for his recommendations when it came to most everything, whether it was choosing a ceiling fan, an appliance, or learning what brands make good cabinet handles. In addition, Moshe could also usually find us discounts on whatever we were buying from vendors he works with. My wife and I were on a pretty rigid schedule with a baby on the way. Moshe always kept our schedule in mind and worked hard to get our project done on time and make sure he was always communicating with us about everything to keep us from getting stressed out if we didn’t know what was going on. Once the actual work on the house began, the whole process only took 4 months, and all of our friends and neighbors are so impressed by it! Moshe was great managing all the workers coming to the house and we always felt very well cared for. Now that our project is over, my wife and I actually miss seeing him every day! We would definitely work with A+ and Moshe for any of our future construction/renovation needs and can’t recommend them highly enough. Their prices may be a little higher than some other contractors, but my wife and I definitely feel like the extra attention, communication, and professionalism we received was well worth it.

Could not have been better They are amazing. Adam and Moshe when over my needs and desires and submitted plans for the master bathroom. They were very creative and with slight modifications the project began. Moshe was in charge and his crew works as a great team. His artistic talent and desire to perform and excellent job resulted in such a fabulous result that I decided this team could transform a second bathroom plus other much need changes in the home. All the employees knew that they had to be able to pass the critical inspection of Moshe who was there daily. The truly had pride in their workmanship. The house upgrade them progressed to repiping. electrical panel upgrade, ventilation system redone and a new driveway. I knew I was dealing with the best possible crew and Moshe is an incredible supervisor and also a great person. The company is ore than A Plus- it is A+++++ Hire the pros and you will have a great result and no headache or heartburn. The service was good because they are prompt and they are looking to the final details at one point that they needed to change everything but they make it quickly and the finishing is good and they take things to create the details.

Hiring a contractor is a process that is fraught with uncertainty for many homeowners. We have all heard stories of dishonest contractors who underperform on the work, overcharge on the price, mysteriously disappear for lengthy periods of time,and generally make life miserable. The first thing I have to say about Adam Simon and A Plus Design and Remodeling is that you will never have a question about his honesty and integrity. From the beginning, he was absolutely transparent about costs, and provided us a detailed breakdown laying out every step of the process and the costs that we would incur at every stage of the remodel. And as the work progressed, there were no deviations from the plan that he laid out at the beginning. That in itself should make you want to hire him, but there are many other reasons. Adam worked closely with us on the design of our project and provided valuable input on design and materials, that contributed enormously to the success of the finished project. He also spent many hours with us, helping us shop for appliances and fixtures even though he did not make any money by doing so. Similarly, when the project required hiring an outside party such as a cabinet maker, he remained fully involved in the process and helping us ***** the various factors which impact the cost of the cabinet work. The name of Adam's company is A Plus Design and Remodeling, not just A Plus Remodeling. This is an important distinction. Adam is completely project-oriented; not just job oriented. So when you hire him, understand that you are hiring someone who will guide and manage your entire project from start to finish....even the parts for which he is not directly responsible. Honesty, integrity, and professionalism. These are the reasons why you should hire Adam Simon.

Fantastic! Even though my job was to small for A+ to do, Adam was a wealth of information, explaining exactly how the insurance process would work. He probably saved me thousands of dollars, since I knew nothing about how to go about this. If I ever have an entire house to remodel, A+ would be my first, and only call! -jennifer

Adam couldn't work on our project. However, he took a couple hours to go over what we had in mind for our project and added so much more insight and creativity to what we wanted done. He brings great energy, enthusiasm, and an incredible artistic vision. Needless to say, we were very disappointed that he couldn't do our job but it was a real pleasure to get his ideas and meet him. What a breath of fresh air. My suggestion is this: if you want a contractor with unlimited vision, cost efficient and professionalism, he is the go to guy!

Initially, I attempted to reach them by email to ask about repairing our balcony. I then had to make a phone call to get a response. When I spoke with the receptionist about the balcony work, she volunteered that the company was not accepting any projects less than $3000. I pointed out that their own special was $2400. Her response was that I had to buy the coupon so it was different. I didn't understand that logic but, as it turned out, it more a matter of ethics than logic. I made an appointment for an estimate. I was told that it had to be when Adam was available because he does all the estimates. So we reserved the following Sunday at 1pm since that was the only time he was available. The next day I got a voice message cancelling the appointment. The message said that because they are so busy, they would not be able to even give me an estimate for another month and a half. The suggestion that, overnight, they have become so busy that they cannot schedule an estimate was a rather transparent ruse to avoid the project because someone with an active leak would of course not wait months to repair it. The most disappointing aspect is that this company apparently uses its coupons to fish for business, and when there is interest in their coupon they are unavailable. Unprofessional at best and, if all is as it appears, unethical. I have no idea whether their work is any good, but character and integrity are important markers that usually reflect on quality of performance.

We did not end up moving forward with the larger renovation at this point because Adam advised us to do so when we were fully ready and prepared. This was great advice and we took it to heart. When we are ready though, we are going to definitely go with him! He is as brilliant as he is kind.

Adam is a straight shooter. With a wealth of experience, energy, and curiosity, he brings more than just great ideas to the table; he brings a) great ideas that are doable within the scope of the project itself, b) he brings the confidence of someone who oversees his own labor and is careful and transparent and c) he communicates all of this in an accessible way that gives the client freedom, control and serenity with the process. Within minutes of our first site visit with Adam, it was clear that he both enjoys his trade and the experience of working with and building trusting and productive relationships with clients. In a business unfortunately rife with mercenary and short sighted contractors, Adam is a principled GC with an interest in building more than just houses -

Adam, the owner, came to our house to consult on adding a downstairs powder room. We were extremely impressed by his honesty and attention to our needs. He actually tried to talk us out of doing work that would not add value to our house - even though he would have made money off of the project. He was on time and polite and even stayed late in order to meet with our family members who were running late. His office was very pleasant to deal with on the phone. He spent over an hour with us going over our needs and advising us on how to best spend our money, even when this went against his own interests.

I was looking to add a room on to my house. Adam was able to identify potential issues and provided honest feedback about my plans, and made suggestions on how to best move forward. We ended up not moving forward with any remodel but would call Adam again if we did decide to make the changes in the future.

Let me begin by explaining that our restoration project involves an insurance claim and doesn't align with the large scale projects A Plus normally takes on, so I won't be able to comment on the work. Despite this, Adam (the owner) came out to provide a free estimate because we found him on Angie's list and he wanted to honor the request. This was the first thing that impressed me and there's more... I'm giving Adam a 5-star review because of the stellar way in which he conducted himself and educated us about the process which we were about to engage in. Not only did he spend a good amount of time listening to our concerns around the damages he freely shared his deep knowledge on a variety of topics and on how best to proceed given the complexities of dealing with insurance companies. In a world of less than scrupulous contracting companies (I've already met a few of them and if you have, you know what I mean), Adam quickly impressed us as being not only deeply knowledgeable but ethical and trustworthy. I only wish I could have hired him for this job but completely appreciated his coming out to help us all the same! What we were left with after a session with Adam, was a very well constructed line item quote, that we can take to our insurance company, education and wisdom from an experienced professional, and a greater sense of comfort around our next steps. I believe we we put who we are into what we create and how we perform and I'm pretty sure if Adam was able to take on my project, that I'd be writing an equally excellent review on the work. Claudia took care of this right away. The contractor who came over was very considerate, especially considering that I have a two-year-old running around and constantly getting in the way, and he fixed our bathroom door so that it works perfectly! He was also super polite and professional. It was also very nice that he showed up wearing an A+ shirt, so that I knew right away that this was the correct person. With all the weird stuff going on these days you never can be too careful!

Sharon - what a nice guy! He arrived punctually. He spent an adequate amount of time reviewing my needs and wants and also had great suggestions. He allowed all of the time I needed for any and all questions - very informative! He was easy to talk with and I felt comfortable and at ease with him as soon as he arrived and began explaining the process we would go through for the quote as well as the process if I were to go through the remodeling process. Unfortunately the quote was more than I had planned and budgeted to spend so at this time I am not moving forward - not a reflection of the time spent or the quote.

A Plus Design came out and listened to what I needed. They provided a 3D design of both baths, which I thought was impossible based of amount of space they had to work with. They actually shut off entry to hall and created door in my son"s room to facilitate private entry and thus a private masterbath. they provided features to safety navigate bath/tub and provided bench and hand held show head in addition to standard shower head. There is literally a built in bench which one can sit and safely and comfortably bathe. There are appropriate bars to allow one to safely and easily exit tub/shower. Its beautiful. The second shower is simply; gorgeous, rich wood look tile, with polished stones on floor of shower t provide safety as they are not slippery. Additionally, bench is completely covered with stones, again, to prevent slippery surface. Hand held shower head , in addition to standard shower head provides comfort and safety. Cut outs for shampoo are easily accessible for anyone standing or sitting, which as a baby boomer, I'm sure I'll appreciate the added safety feature in the coming years

The contractor who came out was very nice and professional. However, he seemed more like a salesman than anyone who knew and had done any construction work. He did not even know how far apart studs are or how thick roof insulation was! He seemed to have one (expensive) "garage remodel plan" that he could manage. He was not listening to what we wanted and was instead trying to up-sell us.

Adam is very knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and patient. We had all of our questions answered and then some. We are very glad we redeemed this service, though we haven't had any of the work done yet that we plan on getting done, this knowledge will be invaluable when it's time for us to start.
