Tommy was very much involved in every aspect of the remodeling process. He took the time to listen to what I wanted done, coordinated the design with the cabinet maker, took me shopping for materials so we could get exactly what I wanted, and gave me a detailed contract outlining precisely everything that was to be done and had been agreed upon. When the projected cost was more than I wanted to spend, I really appreciated Tommy's willingness to compromise in order to make things work. We ended up with semi-custom cabinets, quartz countertop, glass & travertine backsplash, and new appliances - all installed beautifully. Tommy came to inspect the work periodically and was always helpful and responsive if I had concerns or questions. What I truly appreciated was the feeling that if something went wrong or if I was unhappy with any aspect of the process that Tommy would make it right. He is a man of his words - a trait that is hard to find in many contractors these days.
We know that there are many other areas of our house in need of repairs and eventually our bathrooms will need updating. I have no doubt that Pure Restoration will be the company I contact and I have not hesitated in recommending them to friends and family.
on 12/8 the estimator arrived a little late and after he checked the project and offered $2700 for the estimate, which is about 600 dollars higher than another contractor. What was really the bummer is that this estimator said he could not start the project until 3 days later because by law he was requested to wait for 72 hours so the customer would never have a chance to change the mind after the project started. I never heard about such a thing before and the other contractor never said they could not start the project and I had to wait for 72 hours for an urgent project like this. I had an awful pipe burst and our family was out of kitchen for so long already and could not wait to get back to our normal life by having the contractor finishing the reconstruction of our kitchen area. What is throwing me off more is that my issue was supposed to be covered partially by the home property insurance company and when I asked this company to provide an estimate that was more in the format wanted by the insurance company (itemized cost estimate), I was told I had to pay them another $220. Another contractor which we actually used for this project finally did not ask for any additional cost for preparing the estimate and sending to the insurance company!
Overall this company is a rip-off. And not trying to generalize, however, I do personally find a lot of companies with so called good reviews by Angie's list are not that good; I think they are just using the good reviews to get more business and then charge their customers more. I used Angie's list to find an appliance repair company and it was also a rip-off. That has started to change my view on angie's list. I used to think this could be my good source for good providers and now I am lost. I am still looking for a good plumber for my future needs but I feel Angie's list might not work out for me anymore.
"Dear [removed member name], We have reviewed your complaint on Angie’s List, and would like to apologize, if you felt that your experience with our company was not a positive one. We strive to provide excellent customer service to each and every one of our potential clients, whether they move forward with our services or not. With that said, we’d like to address some of your main concerns. You complained that we were not on time; as you know, we provide a two hour time frame for the inspector’s arrival, as unexpected events that are out of our control can take place, and we want to make sure that our inspectors have enough time to commute from one location to the next. In this case, we had contacted you and kept you in the loop that there were some unexpected delays of 30 min to an hour. You were not kept in the dark, as we communicated what was going on with the ETA. Your next complaint was regarding the estimate we provided. The inspector was at your property on 12/8/14 and the written estimate was submitted to you via email on the same day, several hours, after your appointment. We provided you with a prompt free service. After you received our written proposal, you then requested an itemized breakdown for your insurance company, which is called a “Xactimate”. This service was not a part of the free estimate. In addition, this is something that should have been discussed with the inspector, while he was onsite, as Xactimates are extremely detailed, intended for insurance adjusters, and can take several hours to complete. This is why we have a standard fee. In regards to your concern about the scheduling within 3 business days, that is the rule in the State of California for homeowners and contractors. Our company follows all the rules and regulations, and this was no exception. We aren't quite sure what type of contractors you’re dealing with, but if they are licensed through CSLB, then they should know the rules as well. We understand that cost is a major factor in making most decisions, but that’s the beauty of getting free estimates. You have the option to choose the one most suitable for you. If you communicated that the cost was a bit too high, we’d be willing to make some adjustments to help you, in order to gain your business. With that said, we don’t think a negative review is fair, just because you are not in agreement with our service costs. Please re-consider your negative review, as some of your complaints, are beyond our control. Sincerely, Pure Restoration Inc."
We would highly recommend Pure Restoration for any remediation or remodel job.
In terms of the project, he was able to listen to our vision but also provide his professional suggestions to get the most out of our project. He must have met with us half a dozen times to make sure we were happy. When work started, all of his crew members were friendly, professional, and detailed oriented. They made sure to do the best they could to minimize the impacts to the rest of our house (laying down paper from the front door to the worksite so as not to track dirt, cleaning up after each work day, etc.). We were able to leave them in the house, by themselves, with confidence. They were friendly and nice with our three girls.
The end product is amazing. We have a master bath that reminds us of resort living. Better than some of the fancier hotel bathrooms. There have been a couple touch ups to the project that Tommy did not hesitate to address. Even when one of the issues was caused by a different contractor. Tommy takes real pride in his work, ensures the needs of his customers are more than satisfied, and treats you like a family member. If you want to do a remodel or a just an update, and you want it done right, with confidence, knowing
"We apologize that your parents had a bad experience with our company. We understand that they’re senior citizens, and we truly did our best to accommodate as much as possible, but construction is a lot of work as it is, and when you add insurance claims in the mix, it definitely adds to the back and forth. Please keep in mind this was not a straight and narrow type of project. The work at your parents’ home included packing out, asbestos abatement, water damage restoration, and re-construction. All of which are done in phases because of standards and protocols. In addition, at times we had to wait for approval from the insurance company before we could move forward. Taking all of this into consideration, yes it does take time, but unfortunately that’s just the nature of the business. We do hope you re-consider your review on our company. We also hope your parents are able to enjoy they’re home, now that everything has been completed."
Here is a list of what they did for us:
mold remediation
crossbeam repair
drywall
paint
new carpeting
They restored my damaged bedroom to an even better condition that had been previous to the water damage.
I have an upcoming bathroom renovation and I look forward to working with them on that project.
situation, having found them at random on Angie's List the 1st (and totally unrelated) time.
I knew how helpful they had been and didn't hesitate to call again.
Tommy, who runs the company is always on top of what's going on and always available and responsive. Everybody that came to do their particular job (mold, dry wall, plumbing, cabinet re-building, paint etc) was top notch and a pleasure to deal with.
In my case the quality of the kitchen cabinet re-building was awesome.
And I was particularly happy and relieved that they were able to preserve a lengthy granite kitchen countertop when almost everything underneath it had to be removed.
Tommy & co. worked around my schedule and I can't stress enough how helpful it was knowing that he was available and
would return calls asap. Everyone from their office was completely professional and helpful as well. You feel like you're in very good hands.
And Tommy knew how to deal with the Insurance co. and get more out of them than I ever would have on my own. He definitely
saved me money in that regard.
Pure Restoration is as good as it gets at what they do--and they do a lot.
I wouldn't even think of calling anybody else.

I was so impressed with them that I hired them to do some personal work for me and I plan on using them in the future when I remodel my bathroom.
Its hard to find a reliable contractor and this company is the real deal.

For me this water damage situation was a very tough situation to be in, very stressful. This was my very first time dealing with contractors, and I have to admit that as a young, single female, first time homeowner I was scared. Working with Pure has made it much easier than I ever imagined. They are just so nice and accommodating, and the quality of workmanship is excellent. I had a minor issue with their wood flooring subcontractor, but Tommy came out to take a look and we resolved the issue. All of the staff are detail-oriented, and they don't cut corners. Plus they kept my house as tidy as I could've wanted during construction. Additionally, they are customer-service oriented-- great with scheduling, showing up on time, responding to calls and emails very promptly. They even knocked some money off my bill because I provided my own materials. I communicated directly with Christina in the office, Carlos and Luis who worked at my home, and Tommy & EZ to take care of the bigger-picture stuff. Really, I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
You can put your worries behind you when you hire Pure because they take pride in their work and they care about their customers. I'm now hiring them to take care of mold that was found during rebuilding. And when I want to remodel any part of my home, I know who I'm calling.
