It went badly. In diagnosing the problem, he spent one minute with the machine and told me it was the tub and it needed to be replaced. I was concerned that there may be more wrong with the washer than simply the tub; however, he assured me there was nothing else wrong. Three weeks later the same technician arrived with the part. When he finished the repair he was getting ready to leave and left the old (very large and very heavy) tub for me to dispose of. When other service providers have come and replaced parts, they removed the old parts, regardless of size or weight. Regarding his leaving the old tub: I am disabled and can't even lift 15 lbs. let alone 50 lbs. When I asked him to please take the tub with him--explaining my limitations--he said to leave it at the curb with "some money" for the trash service to take away. I explained they won't do that. His next recommendation was to take it to a business dumpster and deposit it there. I cited ethical problems as well as my disability....again. His last offer was for me to give him $40 and he'd take it. I declined and he left the tub. Before he left the premises I called his company and spoke with a manager. The manager assured me if I hired someone remove it and supplied him with an invoice he would reimburse me. I complied with his request and never received reimbursement. To add insult to injury, the tub now squeaks with every rotation.
Description of Work: We have a Whirlpool Duet Washer which is covered under an Extended Warranty plan. The plan allows us to select from three different providers in our area (Palm Springs, CA). Having used both of the others previously and receiving fair service, I decided to try this new one: Avalon Appliance Repair out of North Hollywood, CA. It didn't seem to matter that they're hours from us--we're in their service area. The technician responded to our service request in a timely manner. He performed the necessary service, although I'm not certain that additional service may have been required. Our washer is now functioning again, albeit with a strange noise that it didn't have prior to his service.
