First off, I submitted a positive review of AASA in May 2011 and I stand by that. That experience led me to contact AASA to come out and repair the refrigerator that they had performed an unrelated repair on back in May. I called last week and they offered their first available time - Monday evening 5pm-8pm. This was actually a good window as I only had to leave work early, not take a half day off if the appointment had been more during the work day. However, the technician did not show up. I called at 6:30pm to confirm someone would be coming and was told I was still on the schedule, but 8:00pm came and went with no call or notice. When I called back at 8:30pm, I was told they could not get a hold of the technician despite calling his cell phone, and they didn't know whether he might be showing up, but since it was so late they thought he might not show up, but they weren't sure and maybe he would. When I expressed my frustration with not having gotten a call or any notice, I was told I was directing my "anger" at the wrong person. I clarified that I was not angry as much as frustrated that I had made a special trip home to be here and then the person doesn't show up. To make matters worse, the person on the phone did not offer to make another appointment, nor offer to see what she could do to make up for the inconvenience, nothing. I ended up saying that I guess I would have to call them back if I wanted to reschedule. At this point, I'm not sure I will call back. This was a complete 180 from the experience I had with them in May 2011, and I am very disappointed after the very positive experience I had with them the first time.
Description of Work: No services were performed, as the technician failed to show up during the appointed 3-hour window.

Luckily for me, Leonard, the experienced, serious minded, "old-school" tech has been doing this kind of work for many years and was familiar with my microwave. I had spent countless hours on-line trying to find information about my microwave and how to fix it. Since it was old, very little information was available, so I called this company. Leonard knew exactly what to do, had the right replacement fuse in his truck, and make quick work of the job. Cost was $100 labor/service call plus $10 for the fuse. He honored a 10 percent off coupon, which got the bill down to $100.88. He accepted my check with no problem. Good company to deal with, and I would use them again.
Description of Work: Replaced the fuse on my 30 year old Tappen built-in microwave.

Let me start by saying that I never got the service done, so I can't speak to how well they actually repair appliances or their prices. I called on Saturday to schedule an appointment. The young man who answered sounded very professional & we scheduled it for the following Monday 8/15., letting me know the technician would call in advance of coming to the house. So far, everything is normal. I had a car problem on Monday, so I needed to reschedule. The girl that answered sounded a bit put-out that I wanted to reschedule, saying, "You're cancelling?" I corrected her & said I was rescheduling. I asked for a time on Wed. 8/17 & we agreed on 11am to 1pm. Tuesday 8/16 @ 1ish a man randomly shows at my door, no phone call & on the wrong day. I was knee deep in a project & unable to even come to the door. He told my son the service call said it was for "today". This morning, I called to confirm that we still had an appointment, although after the scheduling screw-up, they should have called me. I confirmed with the same irritable girl (not even trying to hide it) that we did indeed have an appointment for today. I wait. No serviceman shows. At 1pm, I call again to ask what has happened & she informs me that the call was scheduled for between 11 & 2pm. It is not what I wrote down & not what we agreed on last Monday, so I tell her that. She tells me, she only makes appointments from 11 to 2. She then says she's going to see what happened, yells for some co-worker & says, "you know-the reschedule", (passive aggressive anyone?) I tell her to go ahead & cancel, because I'm feeling good about all of this anymore Too many mistakes already & an attitude on top of it~no thanks I told her I found them on Angie's List & I chose them because they had good reviews. I'm in the middle of saying the words " I'm disappointed" & she hangs up on me. Nice touch, drama queen. The girl in the office that I dealt with was unprofessional, extremely rude & doesn't even know how to fake customer service. That's how you get an the "F" rating without actually performing a service.
Description of Work: I asked for an estimate for fixing a malfunctioning sensor on my refrigerator door water dispenser & replacing the levers for both the ice & water.I also needed an estimate for fixing my antique O'Keeffe & Merritt & thought I could roll both estimates into one service call, since it was $35 for the estimate. I would have had them service my dishwasher too, if I liked the initial service they provided. I'm looking for a long term relationship with a local mom & pop. Unfortunately, I was unable to get them to look at my appliance needs because of the office staff & their inability to schedule properly.

Worst service call I've ever made; would not call it "service", more of how much I'm going to be charged regardless of what I need.
Description of Work: I called today for service and the lady who answered the phone only cared about telling me how much it would cost to send someone out and what the minimun charge it would be regardless of what the actual service would be provided. I've never made a service request where all the person cared about ion the phone s telling me how much it would cost without even knowing what the service request is. To me, this is unprofessional and is not a service company, but a money-grubbing company. Perhaps the owner should fire the lady answering the phone since I'm shocked all the other reviews have been good. I would not recommend even calling this company for service since they clearly don't care what it is you need.

Leonard from All American Smart Appliance Co. arrived early which was much appreciated and even called before he arrived to make sure I would be at home. He quickly diagnosed the problem with our refigerator, explained what the problem was and how much it would cost to fix. When Leonard was fixing the problem, he showed me what he was fixing, which I thought was very respectful. After he fixed the problem, he even wiped down the refigerator. Today, the frige is running beautifully. I am very appreciative to Leonard and will call All American again if I should need them in the future!

I have a mid-Century home and wanted the keep the original stove-top. Leonard came to my house within the allotted time, he is very old school. Kind of gruff, and likes to work without home owner supervision. He made the repairs to my cook-top so that it would work more effectively. I just wish he could have been more friendly, or just nice.. He kept calling me "Lady", and got agitated when I came to see what he was doing. He can definitely do the work, but I suggest you leave him alone and everything will be fine.
Description of Work: Made appointment to get my 1960"s electric cook-top serviced. IT worked, but not all the coils worked at their maximum efficiency.

I did get the referral from Angie's List. They were great. They had to replace a fan. The fan that they replaced was making noise. They came out again quickly and they replaced it with another fan. It was fine. They came late at night and I noticed they were very conscious about holding up. Price; I thought it was fine; I don't have anything to compare it to so I don't really know. Professionalism; the only consideration was that maybe they should have known the fan wouldn't work. I would use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: I used the services of All American Smart Appliance Co. for a bar refrigerator repair. The last time I used their services was probably six weeks ago. The price was $160.

Couldn't have gone better. The leak was discovered at 6pm Sunday evening after returning from out of town. I found AASA on Angie's List and saw in the description that they don't charge extra for weekends or holidays. I called and got a live person Sunday night, who scheduled an appointment window for 3pm-6pm the next day (Memorial Day). The technician called in the morning to discuss the problem to ensure he'd have the right parts. He called later to say he was on the way, arriving at about 3:45pm. We talked briefly about the problem, he recommended simply replacing the damaged copper line, which he did in all of about 25-30 minutes (if that). He had me turn the water back on and verify that it was not leaking, then we moved the refrigerator back into place and that was that. The service call was $90 plus $20 for parts, he took the 10% Angie's List coupon and rounded down to $100. Very nice, very helpful, very professional - he even took a few minutes to explain how the pinhole leak may have started. I would definitely call them again if I had a problem.
Description of Work: Replaced a portion of copper supply line running from the wall to our refrigerator to address a pinhole leak that had started in the middle of the line.

The technician arrived slightly late but within reason. After a few minutes, he declared that the machine needed some kind of pump and that the part and installation would cost 185. After another 1/2 an hour, he said that he would not have to replace the pump after all and the existing pump could be repaired for a totaal of $135. Great, I thought. About one hour later, he declared that the machine was ready. I gave him a check and as he was leaving I asked about the company's policy about backing up their repairs. I should have became suspicious when he said that since no parts had been replaced, the repair was without warranty of any kind. Don't worry, he said, that machine should work just fine at least another year. The next day I did a load of wash and the machine worked no better than before he arrived. The machine made as much noise and failed during the spin cycle as before. Clearly, the machine needed more work than was indicated and probably should be replaced. I believe this techician knew this but chose to recommend doing the work anyway. This was a rip-off. Nothing less. I was very dissappointed by this company's lack of professionalism and expected much more by a company so highly rated by Angie's List.
Description of Work: The 6 year-old Maytag was making a loud grinding noise during the spin cycle so I went on Angie's list to find a reliable repair person to advise as to whether the machine should be repaired or replaced. I vcalled this company and was told the house visit and eval would cost $35 that would be applied to the repair if I proceeded. Seemed reasonable.

After diagnosing the noise problem, the repairman said my motor blower needed replacing. I agreed to the repair, and he went to his truck for the replacement part. It was a difficult installation. While fixing my machine, the repairman dropped small parts inside of my dryer, that he could not or would not fish out. In addition, he did not put my machine back like he found it. He left metal washers on top of the dryer. Several days after his repair, my dryer stated making noise again. I did not call him back.
Description of Work: My clothes dryer was making load noises, so I called. I thought their ad stated they made weekend repairs, but was told on the phone they did not. Work was scheduled for 5 p.m. Repairman called two hours later at 7 p.m. to ask if I still wanted the work done. I said yes. He arrived shortly after 7 p.m. Please note my appointment was at 5, and no one called between 5 and 7 to say they would be late.

They were able to schedule us same day. He arrived just a couple minutes past the window of time he was supposed to be here and but had called in advance saying he would be late. He had to leave for parts twice. All in all, he was in and out over a 4.5 hour time period. I got 10% off through Angie's List, but he wouldn't let me pay with a credit card even though it states here on the website that you can use a credit card. I had even called the company number and asked if I could use a cc and they said yes. As right now (an hour after he left), the dryer is working. I would probably use them again.

The model # had been taken off the dishwasher so the tech couldn't figure out what model the dishwasher was. The manual had 5 different model #'s on it, not helping us choose the model. The Tech said I needed a new control board and he would check pricing. The Tech said each model had a different control board so that was not the way to figure it out. Tech said he could come back out and get a read off the control board to figure out what type of control board it was to figure out an exact price to repair the dishwasher. I asked if there would be another trip charge. He said if I didn't use them to fix it, yes there would be. Why should I pay for them to come out a second time when he should have gotten the information off the control board in the first place? Not happy about this kind of experience. I could argue this point with them but honestly I'm so displeased with the answers I've been given, I'm not very happy with them taking care of the problem. Cheap trip charge of only $35. But look what it got me. Another trip charge if I don't use them to replace it. Bottom line. Another company came out. All the had to be done was to press a reset button on the dishwasher. Ridiculous.

They were very good. I needed someone quickly and I had made a couple of other calls and they couldn't come out until 2 or 3 days later, which was too long. I called All American Smart and they told me a couple of days and I told them I couldn?t wait that long. They called me back and said they could have somebody out later than afternoon. I was very pleased that they made arrangements to get to me. He had to order the part and he picked it up and fixed it the next day. My refrigerator was down about 3 days. He was very clean.

How did it go? I cannot say enough about All American Smart Appliance Co. Their telephone reps are courteous & helpful. Their repairman, Vlad, arrived on time & was personable, professional and knowledgeable. We were amazed at how quickly he diagnosed the problem & then fixed it. Vlad maintained a clean & neat work environment as he repaired the burner. When he left, there was nothing to clean up. We soooooooooo appreciated that! On numerous occasions, we have had to clean up after repairmen. From now on, we will only call All American Smart Appliance Co. for all our appliance repair needs & we will tell our friends to do the same. Thanks Vlad & All American Smart Appliance Co. You guys are the best.
Description of Work: Some months ago, we had a pot boil over on our stove/range. As a result, the flame would no longer ignite on that particular burner. We had recently purchased an Angie's List subscription & chose All American Smart Appliance Co. to do the repair. On 11/11/10, Vlad arrived on time & got right to work. The ignitor needed to be replaced. Vlad had to order the part. On 11/13/10, Vlad returned with the new part & replaced the ignitor. The repaired burner works perfectly.

The service technician was punctual, respectful and very knowledgeable. He found the problem with the dishwasher almost immediately and was honest about the nature of the problem. I was expecting to have to fix the pump, but he found a few scraps that were obstructing the turbine and not allowing for proper drainage. All he had to do was clean up the scraps. My "antique" Chamberlin wall oven caught his eye and when I described to him that the oven would not turn on unless I set it at 500 degrees and that another technician had told me that he couldn't fix it ,he simple took out a small screw driver and adjusted the thermostat and the oven began to work properly once again. Amazing. This guy is a genius. He only charged me the basic service charge. I would definitely use him again.

They were able to send someone the very day we called. Leonard showed up on time and went right to work. He had been here twice before over the past few years and remembered us and our particular kitchen appliance issues. He explained everything as he went along and was able to fix the freezer (by replacing the thermostat) and get the ice-maker working again (???). As long as these fixes stay fixed, we will be very pleased with Leonard and All American Smart Appliance Co.
Description of Work: Our freezer was no longer cold and everything inside was defrosting. And the ice-maker has been on the fritz for most of the past five years.
