I wanted to add a radiant barrier and blown in insulation to my attic. I live in the foothills in the country, and it is often difficult to find qualified contractors around here, and sometimes it is even impossible. My attic is a difficult, tight space of scissor trusses that already had R30 batted insulation, but I wanted more. I could find only 3 contractors in about a 40ish mile radius; only one of them was local. One of the three, over the phone, as a matter of policy, flat refused to do residential attics with scissor trusses. The local guy, Tim Thornhill of All Sierra Roof in Jackson, never showed up to his appointment without any cancellation call: I scratched him off my list. The third folks were farther away, Dri Supply, aka Sequoia, in San Andreas. They came all the way over to do an assessment and we discussed various ways to do the job and they gave me some reasonable estimates. I liked them, and was about to go forward that way when I figured I should try to look for one more contractor. I watch the This Old House Hour, so I tried Home Advisor and Lo and Behold they found a contractor about the same distance (about an hour) away: Coldani Insulation. I emailed him on the weekend and received an immediate response on Monday. He came over arriving promptly at the time we arranged. I had always wanted to see a thermal image of my walls and ceiling, and I noticed Richard was doing something with his phone. He was attaching his thermal camera! We could easily see the bridging of the joists with it. We climbed into the attic and discussed insulation for some time: it was clear to me that he is knowledgeable in his field as well as very experienced. I decided to do all that he recommended: seal all penetrations, install a radiant barrier and blow in fiberglass insulation to R60. He wrote up a proposal and sent it to me. I now had two contractors to consider, and a fair idea of how much it should cost. I considered getting a quote from Dri Supply to compare, but it was now four months into my search and frankly, Richard had impressed my socks off. I can't offer a comprehensive review of his "value for the money", because I didn't bother with it: I knew I wanted Coldani (and I trusted him implicitly). Richard & company arrived on time and as I expected, the job went smoothly: those awkward scissor trusses that one contractor wouldn't touch were just another day at the office for Coldani Insulation. Richard's professionalism, trustworthiness and courtesy are head and shoulders above anyone that I have ever hired. Watching This Old House, I used to think, "wouldn't it be nice to find someone that good to work on my house? ...yeah, right." Well I DID!!

Coldani was the third quote I got for blowing in insulation to add to the very little I already had in my home (built in 1979). Richard came out, took a look at what I needed, answered all of my questions, and explained heat movement in a way I could easily understand. Of the three quotes, Coldani's price was right in the middle. I chose this company because of Richard's knowledge & experience. I also preferred his itemized and detailed quote. It made me feel much more assured that there wouldn't be any "surprise" additions to the cost. I didn't feel pressured with the quote, either. Richard also responded to my emails incredibly quickly. From the first time I called Richard to the time my job was complete, it was only about a week. Excellent turnaround time! The team was punctual, did a great job, and cleaned up after themselves. They even had me climb up into the attic to check their work before they left. I'd highly recommend Coldani Insulation!

Mr. Coldani's estimate and contract were complete and fair. He and his helper arrived ontime, with everything needed to do the work. He worked quickly and carefully completing the job ontime. He removed existing , contaminated insulaion and replaced it with no mess and left my home clean. I would recommend him and his company to anyone. A quality job.

Coldani insulation did a A1 job. They removed old insulation, put in new, covered many [23!] recessed light fixtures, covered pest entryways, and more. Mine was not a big job but Rich went above and beyond providing professional service. My house stays cooler and the air smells better!

When I asked for an estimate, there was no pressure and the person was full of helpful information. He even helped me with rebate information on my insulation. Very clean on the job and polite. Did the job reasonable and with quality workmanship.
