The contractor showed me photographs of iron gates from his vendor. I was under the impression that the contractor would take the measurements and the vendor would fabricate the gates and the contractor would install the gates. The contractor fabricated the gates, and not as agreed per the contract.
Description of Work: BREACHED CONTRACT AND ABANDONED JOB AFTER 8-9 WEEKS I signed the contract on December 15, 2011 for a 4 ft small iron gate and 12 ft single driveway iron gate to be powder coated and installed. The gates were not powder coated, canned spray paint was used with runs of paint over the entire area of both gates. The brand new powder coated posts were also sprayed and is ruined with runs of paint that will chip and rust. There is already signs of rust on the gates. There are splats of black spray paint on my pavers. The large gate was not level and was corrected after I pointed it out; the large gate was to swing both ways in and out and is so low to the ground it will not swing to the inside. The vertical posts on the gates are not spaced evenly; each section on the large gate is not spaced evenly. The completed design was not as agreed; the contractor had to remove the top of the large gate and reconfigured the cascade design, but not the same as the original design. The solid plate on the bottom of both gates was not done as agreed. You can see all the welds and at least five of the finials have fallen off. The job should have taken about three weeks and after about 9 weeks the contractor abandoned the job and told me he lost $750 on the job and I could find someone else to finish the job and he didn't expect me to pay the remaining $300 on the contract. He left five or six metal screens that will cost about $50 to dump. It will cost at least $975 to have the gates sandblasted and powder coated; it will cost extra to have the gates removed and reinstalled, and I will have to get the large gate raised to swing to the inside direction, not to mention I will have to get someone to install the wood slats as a privacy screen as he agreed. The contractor precut the wood slats and they wouldn't line up because the posts were not spaced equally. The contractor also told me that the finished product would not have visible runs of paint. Contractor's need to take pride in their work and not have the attitude that the work done is good enough. I turned in a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and the contractor did not respond and has been rated F.

They gave me a bid and I called them after that. I was not there when they did the job, and it was completed in a few hours and before I came home. I had also requested them to do a quick repair on the entry gate. It is a wooden gate with a latch on it, and the latch was somewhat askew. They fixed it promptly and did not bill me anything for that repair. I am satisfied with the quality of service and give them high ratings on all counts. I will definitely use their services again.
Description of Work: They have installed a new gate for our house. I have a wrought iron fence at the back of my house, and they cut into the fence and made a gate out of it.

Reasonable pricing was given on the bid. They built the fence to protect our swimming pool. The fencing was solidly built, and the posts were put 2 feet underground in the cement. The company has built fencing for me in the past. They always do a professional job.
Description of Work: 6 foot high redwood fence built in two sections. Section 1- 60 yards section 2-25 yards.
