The first time I hired Harvey Construction--to repair dry rot in multiple spots on our house and replace 2 smaller windows--they completed the work quickly and I was very satisfied with the quality. However, when I hired them a second time for some additional work (dry rot repair and fixing a leak in siding), they started the work, said they would return to evaluate whether the leak had been fixed, and then did not return. I have contacted them multiple times over the course of several months without response, and the leak remains unfixed.

I have never in my entire life had a worse experience with any business. Harvey Construction did an extensive proposal for repairs when I bought my home in 2015. The seller of the home wrote a cashiers check to Harvey Construction for $1,850 towards their proposal, and the check was given to me to use towards these repairs. I misplaced the check and found it in May 2018. I confirmed with the bank that the check is valid, and then contacted Harvey Construction to determine how to proceed. For over a month, the woman who answers the phone (Debra Ann) refused to connect me with anyone who can help, and accused me of trying to scam them. I finally spoke with the owner Paul, who said that a new inspection would be needed since so much time had passed. I agreed, and made it clear that my priority was to have the windows replaced, which was one of the items listed on their original proposal. When their inspector (Jim) arrived, he told me that he was only there to review the termite issue, and asked me to show him the basement. I took him to the basement, and asked him if he could show me the signs of termites or termite damage. He refused to show me the issue that he was proposing to treat, cussed me out, and stormed off my property. I spoke with the owner, Paul, to let him know what happened. I told him that I was not interested in having poison sprayed on my property unless there was a really good reason, and that after the way his inspector acted, I would rather not have his company do any work on my property. Paul said that if I wanted the windows done, it would have to be subcontracted, and that I would have to find my own licensed contractor for him to subcontract to, and then to contact him with the details. I found a window company and a fence company, signed contracts with both, and contacted Harvey Construction to have the check signed over to one of the contractors. Harvey Construction now insists that this check can only be used towards termite treatment, although this is not reflected on the check or on any of the real estate paperwork. I would avoid doing any work with this company, unless you enjoy working with a company that is incredibly rude, disorganized, and lacks integrity.

Overall, what should have been an agonizing experience (termites!), turned out to be a good experience in that I am confident I've found a competent, honest contractor.
Description of Work: We had just purchased a property and discovered during the inspections that we had termite issues. The pest inspection company charged $300 to inspect the property and wanted another $2400 to complete the repairs. Harvey Construction charged just $1800 to do the entire job. They were promp, professional and economical, plus I am absolutely certain the job was done correctly. I will definitely use Harvey Construction again.

I am a Realtor working in Napa and Solano County. James is the best inspector out there. He does a great job and is very customer focused. He will tell you multiple options to the issues he sees in the homes when inspecting. He is also one of the least expensive guys out there. His company Harvey Construction also provides very reasonable quotes for the repairs necessary.
