Poorly, overall. After 3 years of substandard cooling of our brand new home, we contacted another a/c company that came out and refilled our freon which they noted as abnormally low. They told us to call the installers if the following summer the unit was still not cooling properly. Fast forward to 4/4/11. Out came Tony from Jim's Heating and Air and again the freon was low. A leak was identified on a hose outside our home and repaired. The unit was not used for another month b/c of mild weather. When the heat came, the unit would start up with a loud bang (the builder unfortunately placed the unit outside our master bdrm) and soon began making a high-pitched whining noise for several mins. We called Jim's Heating and Air. They came out and put on a "hard start" kit to help the compressor get through the early stages of starting up. The bang went away while Tony tested it. I called Jim's again after a few more weeks since the noise was still there. After prolonged use it would go away so I video recorded it for Tony when he came out again and saw that it wasn't making the noise. He watched the video and concluded that the compressor would need to be replaced to completely eliminate the noise. He said Pete from the office would call within a couple of days after reviewing my warranty. He could not get Pete to give him or myself any definitive answer on the warranty status when he called from my house. Pete never called. I called 2 times and left messages that went unreturned until I finally got Pete on the phone again. Suddenly the warranty was nearly up after 4.5 years and I got the impression that this wasn't given a priority b/c the house was cooling. Pete said he would speak with Jim and call me back. He didn't. I called and left another msg that went unreturned and a week later called and actually spoke to Jim who told me "the factory likely won't warranty the compressor because the unit is cooling the house." This is unacceptable handling of my problem and you can see the lack of responsiveness is also unacceptable. I am going to escalate this to the builder. Oh, the folks that installed the unit 5 years ago? Jim's Heating and Air.
Description of Work: Filled freon and fixed leak. Also installed hard start kit to reduce noise. Was supposed to repair compressor through warranty but never filed the paperwork or followed up.

The entire experience was absolutely great! This is the best heating and air conditioning company that I have ever hired bar none!! James came into our house, tested our entire heating and air conditioning, made his recommendations, and than provided us with a quote. This is a very professional company, they do what they say, show up on time, clean up their mess, and get the job done!! Anyone looking for a good heating and air conditioning company needs to look no further, as Jim's heating & Air Conditioning can do it all for the right price.
Description of Work: James originally came in to check out the performance of our heating. We have a two story house and we have only one heater with Thermostat. The upstairs was always warmer than the downstairs so James recommended installing a zone system that would balance the temperature and allow us to set independent temperatures for both the upstairs and downstairs. We went ahead and had this upgrade installed and it works great! The house both upstairs and downstairs stays very comfortable, and the best part is that it is saving us in energy costs as well.

Everything was perfect. We had no problems with anything or anyone. We were treated with a great amount of respect by everyone. They were right there with the other price quotes we had received. If we had any questions, then they had the answers. They made sure there were no gas leaks before they left. They also made sure we knew what the most energy efficient temperatures to set it at. They were very helpful in every way.
Description of Work: Jim's Heating & Air Conditioning installed a new 70000 BTU variable speed 93% efficient gas furnace in the basement of our home.

THE OWNER AND HIS EMPLOYEES WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. THE EXPERIENCE WAS GOOD AND NOW I HAVE UNIT THAT WORKS LIKE BRAND NEW AND I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS.
