+ -1 moreOver the phone I was quoted $120, but once Luis saw the amount of work he told me $175. He made it clear that they mainly do commercial projects, but he could work on my job if I was interested. He seemed very knowledgeable and was able to identify the trees and plants I had instantly. I chose someone else who was a little less expensive and seemed to concentrate more on residential gardening even though I believe Garden Works could have done a perfectly fine job.
Description of Work: Site visit and estimate on tree trimming and monthly maintenance service.

+ -1 moreI called Martin and left a message, he returned my call within 10 minutes and was able to meet with me in less than an hour. He came and did an estimate for a yard cleanup and weekly service. The estimate included some improvement ideas he suggested. I liked his ideas and scheduled him to come and do the cleanup as well as replace the redwood bark with river rock in 3 flower beds. He and his assistant showed up on time and worked all morning on the job. The results were much better than I had expected. I was very happy with how everything looked when they finished. He even took a couple of my suggestions and included those in the job. His prices are very competitive and reasonable. He will be doing my weekly service. My wife was amazed when she got home later that day, at how nice everything looked.
Description of Work: Yard cleanup including flower beds, removing old bark and replacing with river rock. Fertilizing yard, mowing, weed removal and edging. Weekly service for lawn is 85.00. I do not have a large yard, but do have many flower beds and ornamental landscaping.

Description of Work: I hired Martin in May 2012 and decided to pay him his asking price of $120 per month since he said he will do top-quality work on my yard (the going rate in my neighborhood is $75 per month for property of my size). He showed up punctually but left generally within 30 minutes. He has a crew but he was handling my account all by himself- no helpers. His work is neat but he didn't ever have time to check the sprinklers for proper coverage although I asked him to do so at the beginning and again, two months later.. In four months, he fertilized my grass once and didn't fertilize the plants or flowers at all. Several of my plants died from lack of proper water coverage. More damage could have happened to my yard if but I watered manually by hand whenever I noticed a problem. When I called him at the end of August to ask him to check and adjust sprinklers, he got all agitated and said that he wanted to meet with me and give me an estimate for sprinkler upgrades. FYI, I have a new house (bought it in late 2010) and all my landscaping was done professionally by reputed contractors within the last year. While I am sure that some sprinkler adjustments were needed, I felt that he was just trying to take advantage of me by 1) not doing anything special that a regular gardner wouldn't do while charging me a lot of extra money, 2) since he never brought a helper, he never had enough time so I usually had to remind him to trim my hedge and a few bushes and 3) without ever checking the sprinklers, he wanted to "upgrade" them since that would make him more money. So I fired him and found another gardner who has so far done extra work to fertilize everything and tweaked my sprinklers. My yard looks a lot better. I would not hire him again. He is well-spoken but he insists on a lot more money than the quality of his work justifies in my opinion.

+ -1 moreI just moved into a new house and don't own a mower yet. As the grass was getting taller, I needed someone right away. I called Martin and he was at my house within less than hour to mow, weed, edge and trim the front yard. He was already working on another house in the neighborhood. He called me once he got to the house and gave me an estimate and was done within 20 minutes. He even called me back when he noticed that our sprinklers were leaking and offered to fix them. He was very professional and was able to fit us into his schedule that same day. When I got home, the yard looked fantastic and was very pleased with his work.

+ 0 more. I found him through Angies List. So far he is good. The last time he was here he repaired a sprinkler. He was upfront about it. Not that he lied about it. I have never seen the lawn look that good. He knows his stuff. He is very knowledgeable. The negative is the price. It is not that much extra than what I was paying. He is pretty right on what I was expecting. He is very clean. He did a lot of extra stuff like weeding which I did not expect. He did it on top of everything. I am very happy with him. The grass looks excellent so he is good. I would use him in the future.

+ -1 moreI THINK THEY DO A GREAT JOB FOR THE PRICE. THEY ARE MORE LABORERS THAN GARDENERS. SOMETIMES I WOULD LIKE MY BUSHES TRIMMED DIFFERENTLY BUT OVERALL WE ARE ALRIGHT WITH THEM.
