I did a thorough review on YELP. We hired the company to add two circuits to our system - one for garage power tools, and the other for outside holiday lightings. The job appears to have been done fine, but there was an additional charge that should not have been added. So, my advice - if you opt to use this company (which I probably would not do so again after this experience), be sure your contract is in minute detail. The electrician that did the work was not the same one who discussed with me and understood the scope of the work. Do not count on the same person doing the work with whom you discussed the project you wish to have done.

In June 2013, we began to use our air conditioning unit as the temperature in our area began to rise. We noticed the fan was running, but the house was staying warm and the thermostat was not decreasing in temperature. I went out to check the unit and noticed it wasn't running, so I checked our NEW electrical panel and discovered the breaker responsible for the AC, had tripped. I reset it and return to the inside of our home. Within an hour, it had tripped again. Once again I went outside, and now knowing what the problem was, I reset it. During the next few weeks, the temperature outside was up and down. When it went up, we utilized our AC, but the breaker continued to trip and I had to continue to reset it. Finally, one day, it would not let me reset it, so I called David and told him about the issue. His response was, "It's not your electrical panel. I can almost guarantee it's the compressor on your AC. So I said, "Okay. Can you recommend someone?" He gave me the name of a guy, a friend of his, and he could fix it. I called my husband and advised him what David had said and that he had given me the name of an AC guy. My husband said he would call the guy who had put in our new heating unit in 2009 and arrange for him to come out. I took the day off, the AC guy showed up and he immediately said" the breaker you have installed is only 30 amp, and it needs to be a 60 amp." I called David, while the AC guy was still there and told him what I had just been told. His response was, "You should have called my guy, then I could have come out." I told him, we used our previous Heating and AC guy and the service call was $85.00 AND we needed a new breaker. His response was , "Well, do you want me to pay for the breaker?" I told him I had to speak with my husband, and we would be in touch. My husband and I discussed it and we decided to send David the bill from the AC company. a total of $120.00 to David with a note, requesting reimbursement. We waited two weeks, with no response. My husband called him and left a message. (David has a recording that says he checks his message every 15 minutes.) My husband called twice, with no response, and sent an email. In the email back to my husband, he wrote, he doesn't return calls until the end of the day. David finally came out to our house on July 25th. He argued with my husband, refused to reimburse us for the $120 and continued to deny he was responsible for the AC unit shutting off. He continued to make excuses as to why he wasn't going to reimburse us and why he wasn't responsible. David's lack of integrity and failure to take responsibility for his work was disappointing, to say the least. The $120.00 was not issue. The issue was he didn't stand by his work. We will never use this guy, or recommend him.
Description of Work: November 28, 2012, We hired him to update our main electrical panel from 125 amp to 200 amp. He guaranteed his work for 5 years.

I called David to have four ceiling fans replaced. He quoted me $75.00 each, after applying our military/law enforcement discount. David did not come to my house. He sent his brother-in-law, Timothy Alan Goodman. There are several problems with this:1. David certifies to the Contractor's State License Board that he does not have employees, so he is exempt from having worker's compensation insurance. Had Tim been injured on my property, my home owner's insurance would have been responsible.2. Tim is neither a licensed electrician or a licensed plumber.3. Tim is a registered s** offender for committing a lewd and lascivious act with a minor under 14 years old. Further investigation told me that the crime occurred in 1996 or 1997, but I still have issues with having a s** offender in my home. Particularly because I told David that Iwould be home with my young daughter. I emailed David and told him that I would be filing a complaint with CSLB. He emailed back quickly and asked if he could speak to me first. I waited for his call on the date and time he said he would call me. The call never came. My husband has asked that I not report it to CSLB because he fears retribution because David and Tim know where we live, Tim knows where my daughter sleeps and knows some of the details of our lives after being in our house for an entire day. The Sheriff's detective I spoke to asked me to put the review on Angie's List, particularly because David Electric & Plumbing has glowing reviews on yelp.com. I'm sickened that he was in my house and my little girl was blowing him kisses.
Description of Work: I called to have four ceiling fans replaced. While Tim was there, my new washer and dryer were delivered and he repaired a leaky valve to the washer. I have no problem with the work performed, only that David failed to disclose serious and pertinent information upon sending Tim to my home, namely that Tim was not covered by worker's comp insurance, was not licensed, and was a registered s** offender.

I called on friday to have someone fix several electrical outlets that had stopped working. The appointment was set for saturday morning between 9A-10A. No one showed up. I called their business number & got a voice message saying no one was in the office but that they check their messages often. I left a message saying no one had come & I left my name & phone number. No one called back until monday. The lady who called said she double booked my appointment time. She apoligized but that was it.She did not go out of her way to keep me as a customer as I had not had the problem fixed yet. Their ad in the yellow pages emphasizes punctuality.

The supposed journeyman electrician worked on the panel while the 'helper' added the den circuit and grounding rod. The electrician should have been supervising the helper, but did not. I had to step in and have him re-do some of the wire runs because he had them all over the place. Very sloppy work. The worst part was the cost. When the job was first bid in March, the bid was $2,300 for the panel upgrade and $1,000 for a couple of extra circuits running from one end of my house to the other. When I called in July to get the work done, I couldn't find the card with the original numbers on it, so I asked David what the cost was that he had bid. He said $3,300 for the panel upgrade alone. Sounded wrong, but I was in a time crunch to get the work done, so I gave him the go ahead. After the work was done and paid for ($3,300 for panel and $700 for one additional circuit to the Den), I was remembering more clearly the original bid and so I asked David about it. He claimed it was $3,300. I have since found his business card with the original numbers and he indeed did bid $2,300 for the panel upgrade. Before I found the card, I had asked to have a look at his appointment book with his notes in it and he refused. The City Inspector found 18 code violations after the work was completed. I called and wrote David Electric a letter spelling out my problem with his service, but he refused to do anything about it. I am now making a claim to his bonding company and will report to the Contractor's License Bureau, the BBB and Yahoo, as well as here on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Upgrade main electrical panel from 100 AMP to 200 AMP plus add a 120v 15a circuit to den.
