It's long but worth the read for our solar 'journey' • Our goal for solar wasn't going to be to cover 50% or even 80%, we wanted to get to as close to 100% as possible. Our thoughts were 'why get solar if we can't offset as much as electricity as possible?' Our summer bills were running 700-775 a month and that first summer was brutal and we didn't want a repeat. • Longevity in the materials/panels. Most people don't realize that a panel matters. Yes they mostly all produce well but over time they have the degradation factor and we wanted that number to be as low as possible. Materials matter when it comes to your panel and we found that Monocrystalline solar panels have the highest efficiency rates since they are made out of the highest-grade silicon. If you go with a well made panel the degradation factor is lower and your panel will still be producing well beyond the manufacturer warranty. (there are 5 different solar cell types). • Warranty. We wanted panels that came with a 25 year warranty. If your loan is for 20 years you want the warranty to be longer right? Also We wanted our panels to still be producing at 90% or higher at this mark. Also goes hand in hand with above material requirement. • Panel design/placement and Conduit placement. This really boils down to esthetics. My husband is extremely picky when it comes to anything electric/attaching to the house. He wants clean lines and no big pipes laying on the roof and crawling all over the house. Sounds picky but it really does matter. We have seen homes with panels placed in odd shapes and it just makes it look unappealing and can make a house that is very nice look not so nice. You don't think about panel placement being an art but it really is. Same goes for conduit. Pipes laying all over the roof line and coming down the side of the house also looks messy. Basically, we wanted good construction as well. • Pricing. Of course we wanted good pricing. With our list we knew we wouldn't come out on the cheapest end but we wanted to know we were getting competitive pricing and not over paying but paying fair market value. The loan also mattered. We planned on buying the panels and wanted a decent rate, and were planning on utilizing the 30% federal tax credit as well. Seems like a long list but it's a BIG investment so it is worth the list and the research. We ended up getting quotes and talking to 6 companies. Who we went with: AMBROSE SOLAR. What they offered: • First of all the knowledge and friendliness of Ambrose Solar was outstanding. Ian spent endless hours at our house, answering many questions about our new solar endeavor. He ran through different scenarios, giving us straight information, with no pressure at all. He also didn't have to go get information from someone else, he knows his stuff and his product. He listened to all of our points, told us what he could do and the possibility of could not's. • Not only is Ambrose Solar a solar company, they're also a construction company, which my husband loved since he knew our Spanish style roof would be taken care of and he could talk of his 'conduit placement' wants with professionals who do construction every day. • We purchased a 32 Sun Power panel system that was going to conservatively generate enough power to cover 100% or more of our energy usage. Ian made sure he crunched the numbers to ensure all we would pay PG&E for electric was the $35 fee to bank our energy. SunPower is hands down the best panel in the industry right now, in our opinion, and Ambrose is a preferred authorized dealer. It checked all of our boxes on output, degradation, warranty and design. • Ambrose's team designed the panels on our roof in such a way that they look outstanding! The conduit is pretty much invisible and blends in nicely with the roof - you can't even see it unless you are looking for it. Pat and the construction team were extremely professional, courteous and 100% respectful of our time. We both work and the schedules were kind of crazy but they worked with us and it all got done in great timing! They even coordinated with our house painter (yes we had that project going on at the same time) to make sure the conduit and any mounted equipment went up first so it could be painted the same color as the house! They went above and beyond to make sure everything was to my husbands standards. Needless to say we are very happy customers. There are a lot of companies out there and Ambrose checked all of our boxes, including people we feel will be friends for life. When you can text your contractors and ask questions at anytime, that is great customer service. We are happy to answer any questions or provide additional pictures. You will not go wrong if you go Ambrose Solar! They really went above and beyond and far exceeded our expectations.

I recently purchased my SunPower Solar Panels from Ambrose Solar (aka Ambrose Construction). Everything was GREAT from start to finish! Here's what I posted on Yelp and BBB: I had already met with other solar companies and no other company took the time to research if I could get the extra money from the state. I also loved that they use SunPower Panels. I'm so glad that Ambrose Solar has employees truly dedicated to customer care because in my case it was $2,289.00 beyond the normal solar benefits! Their installation crew is very professional as well. It's nice to deal with a contractor that does what they say when they say it and keeps you informed every step of the way!
