Description of Work: It went fine but he said that it would cost extra for the work on the panel and sub panel. I thought he would at least hook the wiring back up.

Description of Work: Discretely installed a 240v GFCI breaker for new spa that was approximately 30 meters from the electrical outlet.

Description of Work: A small company...but the work was excellent...just very slow in getting things done on schedule. They rewired an old house and did some work on another property...plus adding ficxtures etc.

Description of Work: We called on Friday, and Michael was able to come to our home on Monday morning. Our garage had an overhead light that had been very poorly installed, then removed, leaving a hole with wires that were bundled and taped together. It had clearly been installed by an amateur - Michael thought it had most likely been someone on drugs. The spot where the switch should be was a hole with wires sticking out. We also had 9 connected fire alarms that needed to be repaired. Michael quickly assessed our needs, told us what equipment he would purchase, and scheduled another appointment for the next morning at 10 am. I did not even think to ask for an estimate. Michael arrived precisely at the appointed time, and went right to work. I have to admit that I followed him around chatting and asking questions the entire time he was at my home. He is very friendly and open, and explained every step that he made while making the repairs. He told me about many of the jobs he'd done and it was clear that he'd had a lot of experience and confidence with most any electrical issues. He had to remove several of the wires hanging randomly from the ceiling , and reconnect others, then install the new fluorescent light fixture which we had provided. Unfortunately, the cover was poorly made and fell out of the unit right after it was installed, but it was not Michael's fault - indeed, he made a valiant effort to catch it! After installing the light, he had to clean up the former switch and install a new one. I chose the spot, and when he began the installation, he didn't realize that it was exactly opposite the switch box in the laundry room, causing it to protrude. It was easy to fix, but he wanted it perfect, so he ran to the store and got a 'battleship' part to anchor both boxes so they wouldn't wiggle at all. It took a lot of experimentation and patience to work out the problems with the smoke alarms. Michael eventually had to replace 2 of the units. He then replaced all of the batteries. I was amazed that he was able to salvage the mess without replacing more of the 15 year old alarms. Before he left, I asked him to check a couple of our light switches. They were making snapping noises, and Michael explained to me what can cause buzzing and/or snapping noises in switches. He found a different problem in each switch, and showed and explained both to me. He was on the job at our home for 4 hours (including a 1/2 hour lunch/supply break), and when he tallied the bill, it only came to $275.00. I was very surprised because I had observed the entire job, and told him that I felt as though I was taking advantage of him. After discussing it, I convinced him to let me pay him $300.00 !
