I had two companies come to bid on this replaster/retile job. (about 15,000 gallon kidney shaped pool with spa on low side, and leveled deck.) On the same day, one acted like I was a bother..as if he either didn't want the business or already decided he wouldn't get it. And Dave (owner of WCP) who made a great first impression. I made my mind up before I even got his bid back. Dave was a nice, articulate, professional, knowledgeable young man who walked me through the issues around my 40 year old pool. I told him my ideas, and he would say why that was a good or bad idea. (Example, I said I MAY want to add a water feature. He told me what it would take to do that, as far as plumbing, and concrete work. That was enough for me to know that this would not be in THIS project. His bid seemed fair, I accepted, we scheduled. We both knew that after the plaster is removed other things may show up. The bid was based on what we knew. (I, personally don't try to nickel and dime contractors, and assume they will show me the same respect.) I picked out the tile, and the tile store rep was a little frustrating as to what was the 'grade of tile that was and was not included in the bid', but Dave smoothed that out, and covered what I wanted. (He didn't nickel dime me, even though it was probably a few bucks more than he had included in his estimates.) They started the day we planned, and although we planned to be done by Dec 1, Dave quickly conveyed that might be missed by a day or two. But, in the end, they finished right on time. My electrical was more complex than we first realized, but I also added on a request. The estimate was revised, and explained exactly why, and I agreed. (Aside from this, I hired his electrician for a side job. I'll keep his number too!) The pool looks awesome, and I'm very happy with the results. I asked Dave to service my pool going forward, but I'm not near his service area. That is my biggest complaint!
