T & G Roofing and Solar Company

This company did a fabulous job. They were professional, and very personable. Everyone from the salesman, to the office manager, to the roofers were friendly, did a professional job and were very detailed. They listened to our needs and gave us solid advice on what needed to be done. They tore off the existing roof, replace some of the wood that was rotted, and replace with a beautiful new roof. They removed an entire patio cover made of wood and replaced all the fascia along the back of the house that had rotted. They replace several other areas where the fascia was bad and then added a rain gutter to the front part of the house. In addition, they provided us with not only the manufactures warranty but also a 10 year roofer warranty with yearly check ups. We had 4 other estimates and they were in the middle, but the customer service and warranty sold us.

I called T&G based on the reviews on Angie's List. Mike answered the phone. I told him where I lived and that I was interested in a 'roof tuneup' because my roof had not been inspected in a few years. Technically I live outside their normal service area, but after talking for a bit, Mike agreed to come out. He was on time. He was wearing a company shirt and the first thing he did was shake my hand and give me a card. He went up on the roof, did his inspection, adjusted a couple of loose tiles that had slid out of place a bit. When he was done, he estimated what a new roof would cost. He gave me his honest opinion and said I didn't really need anything further at this time, that the roof looks good! He told me that I probably had another 5 years at least before I'd need a new roof. He answered all my questions and was very informative. I think a lot of places would have pushed for the big sale, but he didn't, which I totally appreciate. So net net he went out of his way, was super professional and didn't make a dime! Rest assured when I do need a roof I'll be calling T&G!!

The folks from T&G roofing overall were great, the estimate and follow up by Mike were good and they were very fair on the price, I had received a total of 4 estimates from 4 companies and wanted to keep the business in my town, T&G was in the ballpark price-wise and based in Upland so I went with them. They scheduled the job quickly and showed up when expected each time. The only issues were minor, basic clean up and fine tuning at the end, Tom came out and walked through the job and had everything handled in an quick and professional manner. I would recommend T&G from both a price and quality standpoint to othe users.

Mike C, the sales person answered any questions I had and was very helpful explaining the options I had to choose from. As work progressed, he kept me informed about when crews would arrive, and coordinated some changes I made without a hitch. As for the crews, they were for the most part very helpful, friendly and professional, but there were a few problems. The tear off crew left quite a mess, especially in the attic. I had 2 solar hot water panels taken off, and after removing the copper pipe, they threw a bunch of the insulation back into the attic. The attic insulation is covered in dust, broken shingles, and tar paper flakes. Maybe some plastic sheets or tarps in the attic would have helped. Covering the radiant foil on the A/C flex ducts would have kept them clean too. Now I have to wipe down the ductwork. The wood replacement crew charged for 14 sheets of plywood by mistake, but luckily, I had counted 12 sheets on the delivery truck. They corrected the bill without a problem. The roofing installer was great. He's probably the "Fastest (nail) gun in the West", but about 25 nails were shot too low and were exposed. GAF states in their warranty that if any nails are exposed, the shingles must be replaced, not just caulked. After contacting Mike C, they got right on it, and changed every one I could find without a complaint. In fact, the installer was eager to fix anything I found wrong and was honestly concerned that I was completely happy with the roof. My only other complaint was the metal flashing. It was spliced in a few places that would have looked better without the splices. Especially on the front of the house where it shows. A little concern for appearance instead of just function would have made a more professional job. I'm nit-picking here, but the new roof looks great and would have been perfect even upon close inspection without so many splices, at least on the front. T&G roofing was the lowest estimate among the GAF Master Elite roofers I contacted. The other Master Elite estimates ranged from high to ridiculous, and I don't think the final result would have been much better. I might have been able to get the roof done for less from some of the Angie's List roofers, but I feel $8,950 for 2 layers removed, 2,700 sq. ft. of roof replacement, 5 vents, and disposal of the equipment on the roof was a fair price. The only additional charges were for replacement of 12 sheets of plywood, along with 128 ft. of 2 x 8 rough sawn fascia board for about $1,450 which seemed fair. The wood guys even painted the fascia boards with paint I provided for free. Bottom Line, I would recommend T&G with a few caveats. Make sure you, or someone who knows about roofing checks the work as it goes along. You can go with GAF's Golden Pledge Warranty, so an inspector from GAF will inspect the roof and provide a workmanship guarantee directly from GAF, but it adds $500 - $700 to the bill, and you must use all GAF products. I went with the System Plus warranty, and applied the savings toward better solar attic fans from another manufacturer that provides a 25 year warranty on the fans, solar panels, and motors. GAF fans are excluded from the Golden Pledge warranty, and only covers them for 5 years. Since the shingle warranty requires proper attic ventilation, if the fans fail after 5 years, you have to pay for new parts to keep the warranty intact. SO, all in all, the new roof looks great, and if I had it to do all over, I would go with T&G again. I just would have requested plastic sheets in the attic for clean-up, and watched the flashing installation more closely and had them use full flashing strips in a few places.

They showed up on time and did the work in a very professional manner , I was very pleased with the work they did. I could recommend this company to anybody needing roof work done on their home.

We had several leaks in our roof and determined that a new one was needed. We appreciated that they used as many of our good tiles from our old roof as they could to save us money. We used them several years ago to repair leaks in another part of our roof. They did a very good job. We recommended them to a couple of our friends who also had used for their roof services. We had their other company add rain gutters in the front of our house and provide other roof repairs on the front entry of our porch.

We found T&G Roofing first from a friend's recommendation, and then vetted them on Angie's List. Of all the roofing contractors in the area, T&G had the most positive reviews and the best track record in the local community. All the other companies had inconsistent reviews, not many reviews, or bad reviews. The first step was the estimate process. We were originally interested in a 'roof tune-up' type of job, where we would have our roof painted and some of the broken tile replaced. When he came out to bid our repair, Mike C. explained that T&G doesn't do that type of work, and the reasons why that is only a temporary fix. Without any pressure, he simply offered to give us a free estimate for a roof replacement. We got the estimate, and after deciding to replace the roof and use T&G the next step was to choose tile. Mike C. arranged for tile samples to be dropped off at our house. Once we narrowed it down to two color schemes, the tile rep drove a trailer to our house to set up a small 'roof' (about 8 x 10 feet) so we could see the tile laid out as if it were on a roof. This turned out to be important because we thought we liked a certain color, but once we saw it on the sample 'roof' it wasn't quite right, and we had the tile rep come out one more time to show us another color scheme, which was our final choice. After the bid/proposal and tile choosing was completed, we dealt exclusively with Tom, who coordinated all the work crews, material shipments, building permits, and other details. At our request, Tom arranged for us to write a check to the supply company directly for the materials after they were delivered. The job took about 10 calendar days owing to a holiday weekend and the fact we had a particularly complicated section of roof over a patio which required many tile cuts and custom fitting. Between one week and 10 days was what we thought the job would take, so that was no problem there. Every single day they were here at 7 or earlier, and didn't leave until 5 or 6 on a few days. The crews were working hard the whole time -- they spent a lot of extra time on the patio roof to make sure the tile were straight, even, and looking good even though the patio eave had sagged considerably and it's wasn't possible to straighten it. Throughout the job, every single night the crew cleaned up thoroughly using blowers, push brooms, and magnetic brooms. The finish work is top notch, from the new fascia boards and rafter tail replacement to all the new drip metal, bird stop metal, chimney flashing, and tile setting. They ended up on time and on-budget, with no significant change orders that caused the job price to go up.

The demo portion went extremely fast the roof was completely removed in just a few hours. The crew was very careful around the shrubs and lawn. after they were done i could not find a single nail or piece of debris. They even rolled over the entire yard with a big magnetic roller to pick up nails and screws. Mike the owner went out of his way to find roof tile that matched the associations requirements and got a deal on a discontinued color then pasted the saving on to us, that was unexpected. Mike the salesman drove by to check out the progress. He wasn't happy with the color of the cement used on the end caps that is used with Spanish tile. A 1/2 hour later Mike the salesman, Mike the Owner and Tom the other owner are all on my front lawn mixing pigment into the cement until the color was perfect. T&G Roofing's attention to detail was impressive. The roof came out Very nice. The crew was very courteous. The workmanship is excellent.

I got 3 estimates from Angies list and all 3 were prompt and provided detailed quotes. Chose L & G based on the estimators explanation and detail on the repair. L & G showed upat the agreed date and performed all of the work in a very good job. All looks great. We had one tile that was not replaced but they came back on Sat. and replaced that tile that they found a replacement for. Our tiles are not made any longer. They also cleaned out our rainstops over the doors as we requestedon Sat. Great professional work and service.

ation broke down after the job was completed but, Mike (the other partner) quickly provided the documents requested. These guys do a good job and are very flexible if you need to revise the work from the original work scope (which I did). I have received several compliments on the roof. Thanks guys!

Well orchestrated plan. Equipment and workers arrived on time. Cleanup was done nightly. It was done professionally and in a timely manner.

Only issue I had was a slight lag in communication once we decided to start the work. It could have been an electronic issue due to sending info via fax and e-mail. I didn't consider that to be a major issue. Things happen. Faxes sometimes don't go thru, etc. OVERALL, My experience: Wonderful! Would use them again! Would highly recommend them to anyone!!

The roof looks great. And having had some rainy weather since it was installed, no problems with leaks. The roofers were professional and friendly. Except for not showing up on one day when they said they would, they did their job efficiently. They cleaned up debris well except for a few spots that they didn't notice and we didn't notice until moving a few things on our patio. Two minor issues: Some of the nails from the old roof were not removed properly and were poking through the wood slats on our patio roof. There was no way to remove them once the roof had been installed, so the only alternative was to have the roofer tuck them up out of sight. The other issue involved the service drop to the electrical connection from Edison. The existing connection was old (this house was built in 1949) and needed to be upgraded. The roofer could not finish the small section around it until it was replaced. I wish this had been pointed out as something that needed to be done when T&G came and did the initial inspection to give us an estimate. Perhaps the estimator didn't notice it, but we could have had that taken care of before they started on the roof had we known. We ended up having to hire an electrician to come out and take care of that because contrary to what T&G was telling us, it was not Edison's responsibility. Edison sent someone out to look at it and he told us, no, we would have to hire someone to do it. Once we arranged for the electrician and the work was done, T&G sent the roofer back out to finish that section as promised. Overall, we are satisfied with their service and would give them a recommendation. One of the reasons we chose them is that they are a local business that has served our area for a number of years.

T & G did a very good job and finished the roof when they said they would. Their price was fair. I hired them because my a neighbor had them do his roof and he was satisfied with T & G. I had some concerns which were taken care of, but I wish they would have been faster to respond.

Their price was competitive. The only additional charges were for a new dryer hole and flashing (at my request) and replacing a 2 by 8 we knew was needed prior to their advising us. There were a number of other areas where wood required replacement. They did not charge for any of these. We knew when they would be out, and they arrived when scheduled. The only issue was rain falling for 5 days after the tile was removed. As they covered the roof prior to the rains (new roofing paper over all the house and plastic sheeting over the garage) we weathered the rains without a leak. They returned promptly after the rains stopped to complete the work. The sales rep was professional, and once sold I dealt directly with one of the owners. He made several unprompted calls to us to keep us informed and to insure we were satisfied. After the rains, they worked very long days to complete the work. As they left well after dark they did not clean up as well as they would have otherwise. I am confident if it were an issue with us, they would have taken care of it. This was not the case prior to the rains when they did full clean up during daylight hours. I mention this in case someone requires a complete cleanup every night. Just let them know it is a requirement. My last comment is that, with lots of vaulted ceilings, I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't more noisy.

I decided to go with T & G Roofing Company Inc, primarily due to the reviews on Angie's list. Overall I was very pleased with the outcome. There were several changes to the agreed upon schedule that I wasn't completely prepared for, but they did communicate those changes and stayed in touch. The workers were on time, did great work and the job was completed in three days. We love the roof and have had many compliments from neighbors.

Leak on roof was caused by inferior material and lack of craftsmanship by original builder. Home was built in 1991. When T&G Roofing was contacted, they immediately came out for estimate. Crew arrived as promised and immediately started job. A great amount of debris was found on roof due to area we live in. Crew removed the debris; made repairs and cleaned job site. Job was completed in a timely manner. Yard, roof and driveway were left very clean. We noticed one of the workers walking the property with a device to locate any nails that might have fallen. We were not expecting this type of detailed cleanup and were pleasantly surprised. One of the company owners came out to check on work progress and to introduce himself. He was extremely pleasant to talk to. We recommend this company highly. A real credit to Angie's List!

The weather held the start up a little. they came at 8:00 AM and got right to work without bothering me, They were done fairly early in the day and left only a tiny bit of debris that was in shrubs.

Called for a quote and got what an instant estimate. Very satisfied and sounded trustworthy.

They worked dilligently all day, every day until the job was completed. At the end of every day they cleaned up before they left. They explained what they were going to do, and answered all of my questions.

T&G was great! we noticed a leaking roof in our formal living room ceiling over the raining weekend. i called T&G roofing on monday. tuesday they came out. MIke inspected our roof and gave us an estimate that was awsome! T&G was set to come on saturday, but called me on friday and said they could get the roof done on firday. a day early! i didnt even have to be at home for the repairs. when i got home everything was fixed! once again T&G is the best and only roofing company ill ever use!

Mike, Gary, and Tom were great. They also removed my old latice at a affordable price. They were fast and clean. Highly recomended!!

They came out gave me a quote. Told me what would be done. Explained that if they needed new tiles there would be extra charge. Found 11 cracked tiles. Did a great job and were very professional. Highly recommend them.

They were very good but their estimate was a little bit higher than what we went with. They responded right away so we called them that week. We did this on a Sunday. The answering machine told us that somebody would be contacting us on a Monday and sure enough they did and he called and came right away that morning and talked to my husband. He was really professional.
