We do one thing and we do it extremely well, solar power installations. Peak Power Solutions is an award winning solar power installation company. Peak has installed more than 25 mega watts of solar power systems throughout Southern California. We employ professional Journeyman Electricians who take pride in their work. We are the best of the best. No short cuts and no empty promises. And, unlike many of our competitors, we have direct relationships with our panel manufacturers allowing us to complete projects faster and for less. Peak Power does NOT outsource any of our projects and each project is closely monitored for accuracy and efficiency.
Warning Buyer Beware Credentials I am a retired Navy Captain with 30 years of service and a Doctor with 2 postgraduate degrees. My spouse is retired and has a computer science engineering degree. We live in a historically significantly home Mission Hills, San Diego. The home was built in 1931, with a handmade stacked tile roof. We signed our contract with Peak Power Solutions, Inc. on 8/27/2014. Our project was completed on 12/11/2014 with a grade of D-. The reasons are as follows: Project Management There was no project manager. We never personally met with or saw any representative from Peak Power Solutions who was knowledgeable about the project, including its scope. No one ever visited the site from Peak Power Solutions during the installation to review the quality of work or to explain how things were proceeding. Roof The roofers and the solar panel installers thought it would be easer to walk across the tile roof, rather than place a latter on both sides of the house. Thus, breaking several irreplaceable handmade roof tiles. We had 3 different sets of roofers. None of which were supervised. The first roof install had to be completely removed and reinstalled. The second roof was to be torch down. One section is torch down and the other two thirds of the roof are asphalt shingles. Unfortunately we only have one warranty (unsigned) for the torch down roof. Solar Install The installers come before the roof was completed and took it upon themselves to start installing the stanchions and the framework which holds the solar panels. The first roofer quit and the second roofer had to remove the stanchions and framework to install the second roof. The solar installers had to start allover. While the solar panels were being installed I noted that the barcode and serial number did not match what I had in my contract. The solar panels had to be removed and it took over a week for them to order my new panels. The company ordered 17 solar panels when my project was contracted for 18. Another return trip was required to install & connect the missing panel. Had I not inspected the backs out the solar panels, we would be stuck with inferior panels. Bate and Switch? Electrical Wiring Install Peak Power Solutions sent an individual to our home to measure the roof area and the area under our home where the electric wiring would be run. After the measurements were submitted for the design phase I received a call from peak power requesting an increase in the contracted price because of the difficulty of running wire in a conduit under my house. I agreed and a new contract had to be written and signed. After the wire was installed I decided to go under my house and check it out. To my amazement there was no conduit installed under my house. They used romax wire. The wire was not tacked up to the floor beams under my house and was laying in the dirt or run over ventilating the ducks. There was approximately 50 feet of extra wire which look like a giant birds nest laying on the ground, which should have been cut to the exact length needed. Bate and Switch? After speaking with the owner of the company about this problem he tried to reeducate me in a very condescending way as to, that there is no difference between wire in conduit and romax. The difference was that I contracted for and paid for conduit and that is what I will get. After a much heated discussion with the owner and another three day delay I finally got the romax removed and the conduit installed. System Activation After 106 days elapsed, it was finally time to turn the system on. A representative arrived at our home. I showed him where the switch box is and the system was turned on. Then we spent approximately 30 minutes looking for the network interface box and making sure that the weather proof toggle switches on the roof are set properly. Without a project manager or supporting documentation, I had no idea where or if we had a network inter face box or the proper position for various toggle switches. Conclusion After designing and building 3 homes and supervising 9 remodels on various properties I have owned, Never have I worked with a company so unprepared and unhelpful in a construction project before. There was no pre-construction meeting, no inspections of any installations, and no quality control. I will not be lied to, bullied, or forced to accept a product or service that is less than or inferior to, what is agreed to and specified in writing, on a signed contract.
