I had a good experience with Cool Air Technologies. Bill is very profesional and friendly. I called and he was out here the next day. Gave me a good estimate and we scheduled the work to be done the next week. Workers showed up on time and were profesional and friendly as well. Bob came by to check on work. The work was completed quickly and I am very happy with everything. I would recommend this company to my friends and family. I really appreciate the professionalism.

Our appointment time was between 6pm and 8 pm and Bill was here by 6pm. He gave us a lot of tips about how to keep the furnace clean. He even helped us vacuum the pet hair that was sucked in from the previous homeowner's pet. Bill was very thorough with the tune-up. He checked everything to make sure that things are working fine. I was really impressed when he took off his shoes off before he went upstairs to check on our vents without being asked. Our second level is all carpet and being Asian, we don't wear shoes inside the house. Overall, we are very happy with the service. Bill was professional, friendly, and he did a great job.

Bill called and advised me ahead of time that there would be a charge for his inspection and evaluation. He said that if I hired him to do the work he recommended within a certain amount of time (I forget how long) he would deduct that fee from the final bill. I like this; it was full disclosure at the start. Bill showed up on time and put my mind at ease about what I thought were some large problems. Overall he said there was little that actually needed doing, primarily some sealing in the furnace closet and enlarging the return air opening. He recommended a larger, bar-type grille for the return to improve air flow and reduce noise, and bar-type registers for all ducts to improve air flow there, as well. He said he would be happy to do the work, but that it is a DIY job for those who are handy, and DIY would save me some money. He also said he could buy the grille and registers for me, but that it would be less expensive to buy them myself, and he made recommendations for where I could find them. I like all of this, too; it shows integrity in not trying to sell something I don't need and giving me the DIY option. I would not hesitate to call Bill for any future work, whether it's a tune-up, duct cleaning, or replacement of HVAC equipment in part or full.

First the company didn't even get the fax completed and had to obtain a verbal quote. The quote was for $1600. When I asked if that was with permits, the guy said that permits would be an extra $400. We didn't use this character. Let's be very clear contractors -- The Contractor's Board would not be pleased to hear this kind of behavior. It is incumbent upon the contractor to quote WITH permit and refuse service from the customer demanded no permits. So far, only one of three services on Angie's has worked out...

First of all, we did absolutely no work for you. We wonder if you are giving a report on the right company? Bill never met you. He met with your tenant. Our quote was for $2200 dollars and states very clearly the additional permit fees……not $1600 dollars as you had originally thought (Maybe you are thinking of another company’s quote?!!!). As for permits, each individual city has its own individual fees and requirements for HERZ rating, duct testing, for CA Title 24, etc. We pass the exact cost of those fees directly on to our customer…..with absolutely NO MARKUP. Therefore, we quote the city fees separate from the cost of the quote…(but right on the same quote sheet). That in no way implies that we do not permit our jobs. The 133 Angie’s List reports from actual customers who have done business with us show we maintain a AAAAA record. We have received the SUPER SERVICE AWARD every year since the day we started over 6 years ago. We retain the same stellar record with the CA State License Board….not a single complaint. Our reputation speaks for itself.

Bill came and did a very professional job of checking what needed to be done. He found an oil leak and showed me the leak. Other companies that gave me estimates didn't find the leak. He looked at the exhaust pipe on the roof to make sure all was compatible. Our kitchen floor was warm, and I thought it had something to do with the cooling pipes under the floor. Bill said in all his years of experience, he had not seen a case where the floor was warm because of the pipes. He said if anything the floor would be cool, not warm. He was right. Other companies said that they might have to run tubing on the outside of the house because of the cement foundation under the house. Bill said that it was highly unlikely the pipes under the house were leaking, since he found the oil leaks near the heater fan and he believed that was the problem. He was right. The two men who installed the units were friendly and knowledgeable. I believe the man's name is Larry. He was the older gentlemen. Well I have a sink with an industrial size drainage pipe in the laundry room. On the other side of the wall is the AC unit. Larry noticed that the water drainage tube for the AC was getting clogged. It connects to the drainage pipe in the laundry room. If he did not notice it and replace it, the water from the AC unit, due to condensation would back up. This was changed without charge. Bill and Trish are always friendly when I called them.

I called trish one morning and she was able to get her tech guy (the one in the pictures) out to me that afternoon. He was courteous and prompt as well. Our AC unit wasn't cooling as well as it used to. We decided to have Cooltech come out and do a tune up and see what was wrong with the cooling. Our system was running low on coolant by several pounds and we had it refilled. As a preventative mesaure the guy recommended to add a sealant to seal up any potential leaks/issues that may have caused the coolant to leak out in the first place. Overall the service was quick. Price seemed fair for the coolant, sealant and labor. Overall, I was happy with the services given and our AC now cools the house much faster than it did before.

They did a good job and were very responsive and punctual. I believe that they do quality work. However, I have no idea how fair the price was for their service. Two people did the entire job in about 5 hours. They originally estimated that it would be an 'all day job'. The owner of the company would not tell me how he broke down the labor and materials. I find this to be less than desirable business practice. I have had a decent amount of experience in construction, including building a room addition on a home along with a contractor and subbing out many jobs over the years. It is totally reasonable to know approximately how much a company is making off of you per hour in labor. He had no explanation for not breaking down the price for me except to say that it is 'just the way he does business' and that it was easier for him. And, he mentioned that one doesn't ask a restaurant to break down the ingredient cost on a dish that you order. This is true, although, if a dish in a restaurant were $1800, you bet I'd want to know where the money is going. When I pressed the issue, he said that labor was roughly double the materials. OK, but they worked a five hour day, not an eight hour day. My blind guess (because I have no other choice) is that we paid about $300-600 max for parts in this job. That leaves around $1200-1500 for labor for 2 people for 5 hours of work. I think that is pretty high. Granted, it's the middle of summer and AC companies know that homeowners are desperate. Who knows, maybe the parts were really expensive. But, how would I know because that information was not provided. I have run a few small businesses over the years. I like it best when everyone is very upfront and honest about costs. It just makes the whole transaction better for everyone. I can't help be suspicious if you will not tell a customer how much you charge for labor. Like I said, I think they did quality work. If you don't care how much you pay for a good quality job, I highly recommend them. However, if you want a cost breakdown, I'd suggest looking into other quality companies.
Description of Work: Cool Air Technologies replaced a 2.5 ton coil and coil pan, and ran a secondary drain line. It cost $1800. This was after a $175 service call.

What a disappointing review!!!! We wish that you had gotten other quotes from other contractors to confirm why over 120 prior customers have given us AAAAA reflective of Price, Quality, etc. If you had done price comparison, I’m sure you would be more than happy with the price you received. You were given a price based up the complexity of the job. Your job also required 2 Journeyman Level Mechanics, not helpers…and as such should not have been penalized for only taking 5 hours on a job that would have taken other companies 2 days to complete…and as such would have had a much higher price. We tell people an estimate of time required so they can plan their work and busy schedules accordingly. A day does not mean a 8-5 timeframe. You were given flat-rate pricing…which is standard in the industry and not reflective of “heat of summer” pricing as you initially thought. As a matter of fact, it is standard of a lot of industries. When we got a new roof, the contractor gave me total price of the job….not a material/labor breakdown. The same is said with Window contractors. Again and again, customers review us on pricing and find that we are fair and more than competitive...industry wide. We have also received Angie’s List Super Award for the last six consecutive years…..more than any other heating and air conditioning contractor in Orange County. In these hard economic times, we are especially considerate of all pricing given. And as a family-owned and operated business, our reputation is of the utmost importance to us. However, in a service industry, it is often hard to please everyone. We feel that we did our best by you, and we stand behind our price and our work. Thank you for your business.

I called Cool Air Technologies to get a quote for inspecting and replacing the ducting underneath our home. The bid turned out to be the most competitive among the others I received and included the most comprehensive work to be completed. Bill (owner) was very pleasant to deal with during the inspection and his deep knowledge base was evident. He did NOT go for the hard sell as just about all other HVAC companies did before him. As such, it was an easy choice to select Cool Air Technologies. Two guys worked on our home, Larry with 22 years of experience and Gary with 28 years. They were very helpful with explaining everything they were doing to both my wife and me. We tend to ask a lot of questions. They finished the job within the time frame initially estimated (one day) and did a great job of cleaning everything up and disposing of all the old ducting. Larry was kind enough to go back under the house and take pictures for me with my camera and showed me everything that he had done. Overall, we are very pleased with our experience with the Cool Air Technologies team. NOTE: Bill had also suggested that we open up another air vent for the furnace in order to make the unit quieter. We took him up on this as it is pretty noisy. After Gary finished up that work the noise level was not changed at all. We brought this up with Larry and he contacted Bill who decided not to charge us for that work. Phenomenal customer service! I highly recommend Cool Air Technologies.

I would give Cool Air Technologies an A+ for a job well done. From the very beginning, they were professional and always happy to answer any concerns that I had on the job. Bill came out and gave me an estimate on the cost of the job and explained to me the details of having a heating unit and air conditioning installed in my home. He explained what I could expect as far as having workers in my home and what they would do to protect my floors and carpets. He said that they would clean up each afternoon before they left for the day and approximately how long the job would take. He was right on everything that he said the job would be. His installers were very polite and knew exactly what they were doing. They were professional and got the job done a few hours a head of time. I am very happy with the work that Cool Air Technologies did in my home. The owner, Bill, came to my house at the end of the job to make sure that everything was done properly and to make sure that all my questions were answered. I would definitely recommend Cool Air Technologies for their heating and air conditioning needs.
Description of Work: I used Cool Air Technologies to install new air conditioning and a new heating system. They responded to my phone call in a timely manner and we scheduled an appointment for them to come to my home to give me an estimate on what the job would cost and what they would recommend. The owner, Bill, arrived at my home and right a way I was impressed with his knowledge and his personal manner. We walked around the house and he was making recommendations and was answering all the questions that I had. I ended up buying a new heating system for my home and also had air conditioning installed. Bill recommended that I have a new fuse panel installed to upgrade my electricity from 100 to 200 amps which I did. The company that he recommended came out and did a first class job. They showed up the first day of a two day job, always on time and they cleaned up before they left at night. They put down cloths so as not to get my floors and carpets dirty and were careful to not to damage the paint on the walls. They finished a head of time and the workers were also knowledgeable about their product. They showed me how to use the the thermostat and answered all the questions that I had and/or concerns. I would definitely recommend Cool Air Technologies for your heating and air conditioning needs,

Unfortunately we had a carbon monoxide leak that took 2 lives. I initially got Cool Air Tech's info off of the BBB site as I was desperate to find out how the carbon monoxide leak had originated. Bill was very sympathetic and worked quickly to help us out. Even the So Cal Gas Co weren't able to find out anything and were totally incompetent in my opinion. My husband and I felt that we needed our own independent assessment and Bill helped us from start to finish, finding the source of the leak, reporting his findings to the detective, and then replacing our furnace with a new system, making the house safe again. Given the sensitive nature of the situation and our own emotional turmoil, Bill was very professional and also he & his wife Trish are amazing people. They did whatever they could to work quickly and help us investigate what caused the leak. And they were very easy to talk to and explained everything very clearly. They are amazing, trustworthy people and provide excellent service!
Description of Work: Bill & Trish are true professionals and wonderful people. Bill explained everything very clearly and he was able to find the source of the leak when even the So Cal Gas Co. couldn't on 2 separate visits! He and his partner replaced our furnace and then showed us the old furnace where the leak had originated, confirming his finds. He completed all his work very quickly and contacting him was very easy. Very professional and a dream to work with!

I had Cool Air Technologies install Central Air in my home. It is the best experience I have had with a contractor to date. Punctuality is big with me because I hate waiting around for contractors that don't show up. The day we got the estimate Bill arrived not one minute later than I was told he would, and when I scheduled the installation, the installers showed up on time and got to work immediately. The workmanship was solid and they did not leave me a mess to clean up afterwards. I had to go to work before the work really got started, but my wife called me late in the day blown away by how good it looked. And when I got home she was right. I would have zero problem recommending them to anyone I know.

They did a good job. They took care of everything. We had no issues except one minor one where it was blowing air more forceful than our previous one and the noise was a little bit higher so we called them up and they came right back out and lowered the speed of the blower and now everything is fine. It worked well through the winter and hot days. I have no complaints with it. They were all just fine, no problems. I know of kept an eye on things and asked questions. They gave answers and made improvements.

Bill's (the owner) crew arrived as planned and first thing put down tarps over all of the carpet in the areas they would be working. They removed the old unit, and did the full install in about 4 hours. Very nice work, nice people. Walked me through programming the thermostat. Inside and out the installation is clean and shows a great deal of pride on the part of Cool Air. Great job.
Description of Work: I received two bids to replace central Air Conditioning unit, but their reports were conflicting as to the reason the unit needed to be replaced. And their bids were about $700 apart. I decided to get a 3rd opinion from Cool Air Technologies. Bill came out, assessed the situation and his report matched one of the first two. However, his bid was $500 less than the lowest. And his bid included a new programmable thermostat and a new sump pump (not sure if that's the right term, but the pump that removed condensation).

Excellent experience with Cool Air Technologies. Their motto is “quality service at fair prices” and that is exactly what you get. They are total professionals, and also very nice people. Bill (the owner) came out for an estimate four days after we called. He arrived on time, thoroughly answered our many questions, and prepared a bid on the spot. We were happy with the price and scheduled the install for the following week. Our installers Larry and Richard also arrived on time and were extremely hard working, efficient, and careful with our home. They did a great job with everything, particularly the ductwork in the attic. We are completely satisfied with the work and will definitely be using Cool Air Technologies for all of our future HVAC needs.

Very professional, explained very well status and options for the AC unit, charged a very reasonable price and gave guarantee on the service provided.
Description of Work: I Called Cool Air Technologies Inc for a second opinion on a service a competitor had previously given me to evaluate furnace and AC unit. Cool Air Technologies Inc arrived on time, provided a very professional service, fixed and completed the poor service the other competitor started and failed to complete (not to mention they did not tell me they failed to put all the pieces back in place properly). I was very pleased with the professionalism, punctuality, advice and additional setting of the whole AC system Cool Air Technologies Inc performed. To my surprise, for a much better service, the price was half of what I had previously paid.

The service went very well and the tech called an expert in an area he was not familiar with. This showed me that he was interested in doing the job correctly.
Description of Work: Maintenance of FAU completed.
