They were timely, and worked very quickly. Their cleanup was sloppy - - they blew dust onto everything, and did not clean it up well. -- spa was very dirty, and was not cleaned though I pointed it out. -- back fence was dirty from dust -- outdoor furniture was dirty from dust -- where uneven, sidewalk was full of dust - outdoor furniture was not put back where it had been - gate to pool area was not closed - cover to pool lighting was out of its place - slotted cover to rainwater drainage system was removed. I took me only an hour to correct these things, but proper quality control of the job would not permit them. There was no final walk through or checkup.

We were very pleased with the professional and careful service and the cleanup after the trimming of two Queen palms and removal of a fallen tree on our property today. Ivan and his crew were very helpful and respectful of our yard. Ed who gave us the our free estimate was also quite affable and informative. I thoroughly vetted several other companies and am quite pleased that we chose B& J.In addition, this was all done for a very reasonable price. Would definitely use them again and recommend them to friends, colleagues and neighbors. 5/16/2016

I called them and Ed came out 2 days later for an estimate. We walked the house perimeter and I showed him what I wanted done. He was very friendly with our new puppy. I asked for an estimate with the 2 trees we went ahead with removing and another estimate with just having them trimmed. He obliged no problem. I had 2 other tree services come out that I found on Anglie's List which I did not tell Ed about. His estimate was way lower. He beat the first estimate by half and the other by $1000. Initially I though it was so much cheaper because they just don't do a good job. However after reading reviews on Angie's List I decided to with Ed. So glad I did. They did a great job. There was only one slight problem. When the day of the job came they called and cancelled. They were very apologetic and asked if it would be alright to reschedule the next week. I wasn't in any rush so I said that was fine with me. The next week they came out very prompt and finished the job quickly. They had about 5-6 guys and 2 trucks for mulching. There was a different supervisor than Ed who was nice and took care of business. Ed did come out towards the end of the job to make sure I was happy with everything. The job was finished according to what Ed and I discussed on the estimate with absolutely no problems. Highly recommend and would use them again.

Specialist that came out was nice but you can tell they don't like these deals so they try to get more out of the job. The tree is half cut down already and they want to tell us it's a lot of work! We know how much work it might be because we did half of it ALREADY! We just need a bigger chainsaw or it would be done!

I only had one palm tree to trim, and most companies wouldn't come out for such a "small" job, or had a minimum cost per job. B and J's had a great price as well. They trimmed the palm and cleaned up the area well. Next time I request a job from them, I would request for a bucket truck as opposed to having someone climb up the tree. It seems safer for the palm as well as the climber. They did come an hour and a half late, wish they had called to let me know. I had to call in and confirm I was on their route today.

They were great. Arrived on time, friendly, professional, did a spectacular job.

.I saw the special on Angie's and paid the $99 for the offer. It was for $99 of tree trimming.The estimator came to the house shortly thereafter, when he had arranged with us. He told us what we wanted would be $175.0 So I said minus $99 , right? He said , yes Shortly thereafter a crew arrived, and they topped my tree, and cut it away from the supply cables supplying the house. The crew had not cut enough away from the cables when I checked as they were cleaning up. That was my fault because I was not clear on what I needed. They gave me no problem whatever and did what I wanted, even though they had mostly cleaned up when I figured it out. I can't remember all the names and I can't find the bill, but junior was the guy up the tree, I think. Ed might have been the estimator. They were clean punctual, and tidied up after. Next time I have a tree problem, they'll get the call! Good idea to be clear about what you want, and near the end go see if you got what you had in mind.

I selected the provider because of a Big Deal offer. Everything went well. Very professional operation -- they do what they say they will do and I respect and appreciate that. One man returned a few days after tree trimming to grind the stump. I did not have to call to request follow up. The Big Deal was $99 for $200 worth of services. Total cost to me was $299.

They came out the first time to trim my tree. They were professional and on time. They trimmed the tree quickly and left no mess. I decided to take the tree out completely so they quote me a great price. They came back out and remove the tree and stump. Again very friendly and professional and left the job spotless. They always met their times they give and perform a great job.

cut The estimator was punctual and knowledgeable. I explained what I wanted done and he took notes and asked questions about the details. I said I had two big concerns: avoiding damage to my yard's hardscape when the large branches were removed and dropped, and not having the tree look like a hat rack when they were done. I also asked that they bring the truck and chipper in through the greenbelt behind my property to (a) avoid damaging the stucco along the side of my house as they otherwise would drag branches out to the street out front (which happened the last time I had some trees trimmed), and (b) make it easier on his crew. An appointment was set for two days later for the work to be done. The crew arrived right on time. They met with me first, then drove the truck around back as requested. Two men went into the tree while another three removed the cuttings. I appreciated that they dragged all the cuttings out the back gate and stacked them alongside the chipper. Only when the trimmers were essentially done did they start up the chipper. (I don't know about you, but the extremely loud chippers are really annoying to me. Most tree trimming companies seem to start then immediately and let them run non-stop the whole time.). The estimator showed up about halfway through the job to make sure I was happy with the work - I was. I should note that I had no difficulty communicating with the estimator, supervisor and several of the members of the crew. After all the cutting and hauling of the branches was done, the crew starting cleaning my entire back yard and patio. They thoroughly raked the lawn, checked the several hedges in the yard for random branches they may have missed initially, and then used a lawn blower to clean the patio. I was impressed what a great job they did - I had anticipated spending an hour of my time after they left to clean up. We did discover a broken decorative board and without even asking the supervisor offered to go buy a replacement or pay for it. It was all good - nothing to complain about at all. I will use them again.

It went terrible. I rec'd an estimate for a "trim and shape" to my olive tree. I had my olive tree "trimmed" in the past by a different person and it was horrible. They took everything down and left just the bare branches. With this past bad experience, I called and talked to Ed. We agreed on a day and I wanted to find out what time, so that I could be there to make sure it was done right. Ed told me that I did not need to be there because his guys know what they are doing and that they have been doing this for 15-20 years. I still go the time and meet the guys there. The main guy asked me how I wanted it and I told him to trim it and keep it like a ball or something and that I wanted the top to be trimmed as much as possible, but with still the ball look. I go inside for 10 minutes, came out to take a look and those freckin guys had totally butchered my tree. There was nothing left but the branches. It was like going to the barber shop, asking for a trim and coming out with a shaved head. What does a "trim and shape" mean to you? To me, it means exactly that...trim it and shape it, not freckin cut everything off. So I called B&J and talked (more like argued) with Ed. He kept saying that a "trim and shape" was not what I wanted...there was another word that he told me, but I can't remember because I was so p*****. I am not in the tree business, so how the h*** am I supposed to know that. When I see "trim and shape", it is exactly that. Long story short, I am left with a retarded looking olive tree in my front yard with no shade for the rest of the summer months. I would highly NOT recommend this company. I have attached pictures of the written estimate that says "trim & shape" and of my olive tree after they were done with it.

I bought Angie's Deal: $99 for $200 of tree service. I wanted to trim my 4 palm trees. Let's just say that this company and I started on the wrong foot. There was some misunderstanding between Ed (the estimator) and I for what was included in the Angie's List deal. I refused to pay more for the service that I thought should have been included in the deal, and I was pretty turned off by this company. Here's where it turned around. Ed later called to apologize for the misunderstanding and the front desk immediately took care of this job for the Angie's Deal. The guys came that afternoon and took care of my trees. Ed made sure that I was completely satisfied with the job. Thank you Ed and thank you B & J Tree Service for honoring your deal.

The team showed up on time, got the work done and left a clean work site. I got 4 quotes for the job with a wide rage of bids from $500 to $2400. I was most concerned about the trimming of my olive tree (I have had bad experiences in the past) and the removal of the stumps. They did a thorough job of stump removal and did a beautiful trim and shape on my olive tree. I will definitely use them in the future.

The crew arrived on time and there was quite a few workers so it looked promising. However, when I met with the job forman and reviewed the work to be done, I made what I thought was a simple request. I asked that they NOT drop the palm cutttings at the base of the trees as we have many plants/bushes/etc. that would get damaged. Instead, I asked that the fronds be thrown a few feet away to the lawn or even into my pool just to protect the plants. The forman wasn't happy with the request and suggested that it would be a lot of work. (No other tree trimmer in 15+ years has ever had a problem with that request). He wheeled around and walked away so I wasn't even sure if my request would be honored. Also, some of the crew had been standing around waiting for the work to start and one of them sat on a child's rope swing that was attached to a tree limb (something that was definitely not designed to hold a full size adult). I had to go outside and ask that he get out of the swing before the branch/rope broke. At this point I felt like the team didn't have any respect for my property or me and I almost cancelled the job at that point. We continued ahead and the work was done quickly and efficiently (not a single plant was damaged). And the clean up process was superb --- far better than I expected. However, we will not use this company in the future due to the disrespect issues..

The crew showed up a little later in the day than planned but were very professional in accomplishing their there task and had all the proper tools to do so. They were fast and cleaned up after themselves.

I was extremely happy with how this job went. We needed a hedge removed due to replacing a fence, and we decided to have some additional clean up done. We got a fast estimate, with the owner showing up on time, listening to me, and making suggestions. It was a great experience. The price was right, and we arranged to have the job done after we came back from a trip. The crew showed up on time and did a fabulous job. The only delay was with getting the stumps removed. The stump man was backed up and it took a few days for him to come. But when he came to scope out the job, again, he was very helpful, very professional, and pointed out that we needed to go ahead and take some of the fence down so the stumps could be removed. He worked with us and our neighbor and arranged to come on an appropriate day so the fence wouldn't be down too long before the new one was put up. They did a great job, and I'm still smiling at my corner with the bird of paradise plants! No more morning glory vines! :)

First, it was really hard to find a tree service to do this work. the work that was needed wasn't exactly something that an arborist would do. In fact, four arborist said no thanks. I had these horribly overgrown pepper trees (that I don't even like anyway but hey - they provide privacy from my neighbor) and our backyard hillside is just deep rooted brush to keep it from sliding down. Not sexy work by any means, but it is what it is. So, B&J said they would do the work. The person who gave us the quote was very professional, understood what we needed, quickly wrote up an estimate - couldn't really read his handwriting, but he confirmed everything. I choked on the price but knew that nobody else would bid on it and the trees were overgrown by a good 25 feet. Yeah, it was bad. He warned us that trimming the trees back as far as we all agreed we needed to, would leave it looking bare ("it's gonna look like a bunch of sticks"). But we marched onward anyways. We set the date, they arrived promptly with a large crew and began their work. They did an "ok" job. and here's why i say it was just ok. Yes, they did exactly what we asked them to do, and it looked as they said it would look. It's hideous - a bunch of sticks jutting out from the dirt. However, they didn't remove the stumps (where we asked them to take it all out) they just chainsawed it at ground level. One tree root they did remove, and left it looking similar to my kid's room after they've changed their clothes - like a tornado hit it. A whole in the ground and random dirt flung everywhere. Couldn't they have used a rake to at least semi-smooth it out? Whatever. Like I said, it was a dirty job that nobody else wanted to do. So, yes, they cleaned up all the leaves and the branches, but only after scraping up the entire side of my house (brown branches on a white stucco house - is not pretty), leaving the fence laying on the side yard so I had to get that put back on myself, one broken sprinkler head that I fixed myself and what looked like a broken sprinkler pipe in another part of the yard. I called and asked them to come back out and cut a branch they missed, and dig up where the sprinkler was leaking. Turns out it was a sprinkler line next to the bush, but didn't appear to be directly related to their work. It did take them several days to return my call when I asked them to come back out, actually they never did call me back, except five days later to say, "we'll be at your house in 30 minutes." Had to scramble and leave work and race home. While there, again, very friendly and nice and took out another root of a bush and said "Bobby will have to call you". That was about three weeks ago. No call back. so, I give up.

Perfect execution. Really good job. And REASONABLE price.

The price was reasonable. They had three employees come out to trim trees. It was good, along the property line, that was amazing. They cut half a tree down without killing it.

I wasn't at home during the trimming and cleanup but the front office was very professional and answered all of my questions. They did call the day before to re-confirm the appointment but it was for a different time than what we had originally scheduled (afternoon instead of morning). It didn't matter since I traveling and not at home anyway but still not good. The crew missed a small area where they didn't clean up the cut tree branches. Offsetting that is that they did cleanup fallen leaves that wasn't their responsibility. Even with these minor miscues I'm totally happy with the job that they did and would use them again. One of the trees, a Japanese maple, was too late in the season to prune much but they cleaned it up the best that they could. I'll have to have them out earlier in the year so be aware and ask what time of season is best to prune your specific trees.

We've used these folks for almost 10 years now. We keep asking them back - that should say it all. Fair price! In and out with a minimum of hassles! 4-6 crew members, working as a well oiled team. Great clean up afterwards; even jump the fence into neighbors side to clean up, so no psst neighbors.

Very well, they hauled away all debris and left the yard clean.

Their team was courteous and careful of our trees and surrounding landscaping. We've used them before and we'll use them again.

It was fine. They were quick. We didn't have a lot of estimates but they seemed reasonable. They were on top of calling me when they didn't get there.
