This was a major project and its nearly done, so I'll post a long review. TLDR: timely, insightful, creative, responsive, great designs, professional work team, extra mile, flexible on changes, not cheap but I'm happy with the price given the so-far excellent results. We wanted for years to fix our miserable, poorly planned backyard. After letting everything die due to the draught, we got serious. Coincidentally, I won a design review that Cassy Aoyagi had donated to a charity auction. I was impressed?she was insightful and full of ideas from the first meeting. She noticed things about the levels in our yard and the odd drainage right away. She took photos and video and followed up with design concepts. We did the front yard too. So, far so good, so we asked for full designs, with a pool and without. Isara Ongwiseth and Cassy interviewed us about what we wanted. Isara came with not just two great designs, but four. He and Cassy sat at our dinner table for a long time while we tried to decide?working through different pieces from different options. We went without a pool. The yard was a multi-level mess, with lots of unusable space. The new design had to keep the levels, but rearranged them in a way that looks much better, enhanced the open space, removed trip-hazards & created a resort feel. Made the same size yard look enormous. Isara worked with us on the plants and color schemes. Pre-Inspection. Mark Britten came to do a site study. Mark thought he smelled gas. We call the plumbers. Yep, very slow leak, buried under the concrete. Even the gas company's equipment could not smell it (until we dug up the concrete), but Mark had. Turns out the gas pipe was leaking in multiple places. Gas was building up under the concrete for years. Good catch, Mark. We adjust the plans to put gravel and paver stones there in case this ever happens again. John Cook came out to meet with us and explain everything that was about to happen. He and/or Mark notice things that need to be adjusted due to existing structures, neighboring trees, etc. and do so. Demolition. There was lots of concrete and brick, but the guys got it done quickly under the circumstances. No large equipment could get back there, yet they finished fast and with minimal disruption. The workers introduced themselves, showed up on time, and were professional and clean. Protected our house and kept the area as clean as possible. Always nice to our three nosy kids. Changes. I saw some interesting things with stone and concrete nearby. I mentioned to Isara, and he came with some design ideas to incorporate it. This was just before the already-planned concrete pour so we had to move quickly. No problem for Isara and the team. Planting. At the last minute we realized my wife did not like some of the colors. No problem to adjust. After the demo, Isara noticed there was not as much privacy provided in the original design. So, he adjusted. Looks great so far, can't wait to see all the plants grow in. Plants are warranted?if they have issues FormLA will replace. Details. There are a few more things being done such as some concrete detailing and minor fixes. Mentioned them to John and he's on it no problem. John was on-site regularly to make sure everything is going smoothly. He provided daily emails on the work plan. Finishing 1-2 weeks early. At the final walk through, John explains everything?how the drainage works, what to expect with each plant (size and appearance), the watering plan, how all the new electrical works (we have lighting and web-app controlled drip irrigation), etc. Says he's around anytime we have more questions or issues. Maintenance. They provide 90-days of free landscaping maintenance. Sam Souhrada, the Maintenance Manager, came. He explained exactly what his crew does and can do. Provided a detailed list & some options. Price. This wasn't the cheapest proposal we had. But the higher quality was apparent from Day 1. I'm happy with the price in light of the excellent results so far. They worked with us to budget things and still keep our major design concepts in place. FormLA provides exactly what they say ? a high quality, sustainable landscape. This is not just ripping out your yard and putting in some cacti, fake grass, and gravel like some much lower priced outfits offered. This is a thoughtful design and drought tolerant, yes, but still vibrant and with a green, growing lawn for the kids to play. Problems. During demo, they cracked through a weirdly placed water pipe. Mistakes happen. I judge by what happened next. I got a cell call from John immediately. He explained exactly what happened and what they were doing to fix it, which they did right away. I have no complaints on that. I would use them again and would recommend them. In fact, we will likely have them do my wife's mom's house in the near future.

They designed something we could afford and no one else seemed to be able to. They really came through and stuck to their timeline. What they did was really nice and worked for us. They are really knowledgeable and really take care of the landscaping. They answer all my questions well and someone is always there to speak with.

They are very upfront and their work is of high quality. The people that they have are experienced and professional. Their pricing is on the expensive side and they are not the cheapest in town. I would highly recommend them to others.
