Services we offer
Windows - replacement, installation, double hung, specialty, bay, bow, casement and awning, doors - french and sliding glass & patio doors.
The installation process was excellent. The crew was fantastic, friendly and professional. My patio doors were very old and in bad shape. The RnA crew had to rebuild the framework to install the doors. The stucco around the doors had to be opened in order to fit the new doors. The finished doors looks great. The stucco and trim around the new doors looks like an original installation. The installation crew cleaned up after completing the job and hauled away the old doors. The cost was the highest of three bids. However, my patio doors were in such bad shape and needed new door framework for installation, I decided on RnA. They will send a three person crew that can handle carpentry, stucco and trim work.

Today we had 13 windows replaced and were absolutely delighted with the finished product. In addition the entire job was completed in one day by a crew of four exceptional, courteous, and efficient installers. By the time they finished, the only evidence that they were there were the new windows. Everything that was moved was put back into place and all debris of any kind was cleaned up and removed. As long as the windows perform as expected we will be delighted.

Bottom line: Product may be good, but cost is high, sales presentation is overly long, and it's as high pressure as a time share pitch. A man came to my door one day, said company representative was in the area, and asked if I'd be interested in having windows replaced. I said okay, and then was asked all these odd questions, as other reviewers have mentioned, making sure I could be available for a 90-minute presentation, and about who the head(s) of household are and if they'd all be present at the presentation. An appointment was made, but the company called to say the representative would be late, and asked if that would be okay. I said no, and we rescheduled. At the new appointment, a representative came on time and was warm and friendly. He took me through a long presentation (about an hour and fifteen minutes) where he showed me samples, videos on his tablet, and took some basic measurements. The products looked good and well-made, but I was getting the sense that they might be pricey based on his investment of time and energy in this presentation. Somewhere in this presentation, he told me how highly rated the company was among customers, throwing out various numbers from surveys. Of course, who knows what the questions are on those surveys, and do any of the surveys ask if the prices seemed high, or if the sales tactics were high-pressure? I remembered seeing some less-than-savory reviews of the company on sites I trust a lot more, like Yelp or Angie's List. (Surprisingly, as of this writing, while their score is low on Yelp, their score is still high on Angie's List, but I suspect that's because the customers who ended up using their service were happy with the product itself, and perhaps are more financially able to afford the windows; therefore perhaps they didn't face the wrath of the salesman when they turned down the offer, and thus not post a negative review.) Finally, we got to part I was waiting for and dreading. To replace two sliding glass doors and two windows, my quote was $14,000. I was instantly shocked. He asked me what I was expecting and I said maybe like $3,000. Now his approach changed to the point where I felt like I was being grilled. So, was I expecting to pay $1,500 for each door and get the windows for free, he asked? I couldn't believe it. He said that I had led him to believe that, other than pricing and financing, there was nothing stopping me from going with their company. I said, yes, I did say that, and it is the pricing that I have a problem with! I stayed very calm, as he kept trying. He offered me a significantly lower price ($11,000, still way more than I was comfortable with) if I agreed to the price on the spot. When I said I would have to think about it, he said, "Okay, so you're basically saying 'no.'" It was really uncomfortable. He asked me what I was going to get instead, a conversation I didn't want to even have, and he said if I was still considering getting vinyl windows after all the negatives he had shown me about them, that I'd still be looking at paying $8,000. Eventually, he gave up, and took his samples back to his truck. We shook hands and I told him I was sorry we weren't able to make a deal, just to be polite, and he said that it's okay because most people do purchase from him after the presentation. Unbelievable.

Thank you for your feedback and I apologize for your experience with us. We couldn’t agree more that homeowners should research windows before they purchase. Windows are a big investment and it’s important to make a smart decision. Our intent is not to speak negatively about other products, but instead to point out differences that exist between products. We believe important home improvement projects have to last which is why we unite our long lasting windows with expert installation, and a warranty that covers both. We find this provides the most benefit to our customers who want peace of mind knowing that they will get a product that lasts and a company that stands behind it. Thank you again for your feedback, and your consideration.

It went exceptionally well, in spite of problems being discovered along the way in this old house. The salesman apparently did not realize the complexity of a couple of the jobs and has quoted a certain price without realizing how complex the project was on two of the windows. We went into contract with Renewal by Andersen based on whatever they said was the price. Later, when they realized how difficult the project was and how much more work was involved, they still did what they had to do and we split the cost with them for the extra work necessary, by way of fair play to both the parties. Their workers are highly skilled, very professional, courteous and clean in all that they did. Their painting team did a most excellent job of finishing up all the painting necessary to make the house totally presentable again. All the debris was hauled away. All the work was done to our satisfaction. This is one of the best businesses with whom we have ever dealt, in any context. They are a pricey company, but their work is so good and they give so much service that they are entirely worth hiring.

The salesman asked how I would rate him and I said phenomenally good and knowledgeable. This guy knows his windows. He has only been working there for two months. He sells it and then another comes out to do the measurements. The window is supposed to block out 85 to 90% of the heat. They have a window experiment where they take a heat lamp and a radiometer. They put one single pane window in front of the radiometer and it spins. They then put a double pane window between the two and it's still spinning like mad. They then put their own double pane window through the same experiment and the needle didn't spin at all meaning the heat was not passing through. Their windows have air pockets that keeps the heat from transferring through. We are having gliders installed. While the work has not yet been finished, we are looking forward to the installation. I like how they put a label at the top of your window with a number. If someone were to destroy the window, you can give the company the number on that label and they will replace it for you quickly with the exact specifications. I understand that this replacement is free of charge.

I declined to terminate the job quotation via telephone. Several days later Andersen sent a sales foreman to take detail measurements only to be embarrassed that the front office did not inform him of the cancellation. (He verified the cancellation with a phone call to the office). I have subsequently had calls regarding my cancellation and concluded that Andersen sales force are incompetent and the rude on the telephone. please note that several months have elapsed since this experience and the date provided above may be off by months.
Description of Work: no services provided as I declined their offer/estimate. the sales pitch was rather high tech and promised significant insulation. The contract offered a "discount" that would expire in 24 hours.

It worked out fine. It was great. They were very efficient. They cleaned up and they did everything as they said they would do. They were here a couple of days. They worked very well and did a good job. I paid $1,000 down and then gave a down payment of $5,400 and paying off the balance on an interest free loan. When they came out they asked if I was planning to order that day and I said no. The salesman was very good and persuasive. They also gave $3,000 off for ordering that day so I went ahead and ordered that day. The windows seem to be very good quality windows. They were here right when they said they would and their work was very good. They were expensive. I didn't go get other prices. They were very responsive and they contacted me. He came at the end and explained everything. They were very professional.

The consultation took about 2 hours. There is a lot of information to consider when replacing windows. On installation day the workers arrived as scheduled. Halfway through the process the work was stopped because a city inspector arrived and informed us that a permit was required. This was slightly irritating because we brought this issue up at the time of the consultation and were assured that it would not be an issue. After three days the work was resumed along with an additional $506.00 for the permit, and having to reschedule our next project and our own personal schedules. However, once the work was finally completed the windows look wonderful and are as quiet as promised. The workers were prompt and very efficient, and kept the work spaces clean with very little dust. Prior to completion we discovered a small crack in one of the windows and it was replaced in a couple of weeks. Lastly, when I requested an itemized receipt I received a fax with numbers hand written on a piece of note paper. Overall we were very satisfied with the installation process, and love the windows, although a bit pricey.

They came on time, and protected items that couldn't be moved. They removed the old doors and cleaned up the mess. They replaced rotted wood and leveled the openings. They installed the new frames, taking care to make sure they were true and level. They trimmed out the inside and outside, insulating and sealing all gaps. Very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable.

There was an initial meeting reviewing what needed to be done. We wanted to reduce the size of one set of windows. All aspects of the project were handled very professionally. The coordination of the entire project was excellent; from the construction of the reduced window frame thru the installation of all windows. Their communication throughout the process was excellent. They weren't the cheapest quote, but having the project planned, and executed smoothly and professionally was worth the extra cost.

The salesman was very polite and punctual. He was extremely knowledgeable about the product. The product he showed us was beautiful and looked as if it would be a welcome addition to our 1948 traditional home. The price of the windows was quite steep. Of course, the salesman told us that if we signed that day we could get the special price of $21,000.00 plus the special financing. We had just started looking at new windows and didn't know very much about prices, so we decided to sign. After some calls and visits to other window specialists, we realized that though Andersen windows are indeed beautiful, they were a bit overpriced for us. Instead of buying new windows, we decided to have our 60 year-old windows restored and repaired, and are very happy with the results.

From the beginning everything was great. Having gotten ideas about the pricing for what I wanted from some other vendors, I didn't ask a price range from this vendor. I was really shocked when the sales person, Marc, gave a price of $11,000. I did think the quality that he described seemed fantastic and he was such a good sales person that when he said he could give it to me for $9,000 if I committed that day, I agreed. The following day, I felt that it was not what I wanted to spend on a front door as this isn't our forever home. There is a 3 day cancellation policy. I emailed Marc and got no response. The following day, I had my assistant contact him to make sure he had gotten my email. He said he didn't check that email address or something like that. She explained that I had changed my mind. He asked why and was rude and stated that if you want quality, you have to pay for it. He insisted that I had to fill out their cancellation form and get it to their office by the deadline of the cancellation policy . They reluctantly agreed to let us fax it since they were a far drive from us. So this was going to be a great review since I was so impressed with the product quality and the professionalism of the sales person even though I didn't end up having the work done. However, the lack of the same professionalism and the attitude once my sales person found out that I was cancelling changed my opinion. I understand that it is disappointing when someone cancels but I feel that you should maintain professionalism to the end because you never know if that person will refer their friends etc. Now I doubt I would.

I answered a full-page ad in the LA Times which promised a quote within 48 hours. I made the appointment and the design consultant showed up on time. Instead of getting on with the estimate he pulled out a questionnaire and started asking personal questions which had nothing to do with windows. I told him I didn't want to answer them and he said if I didn't his company wouldn't allow him to proceed. I told him to get out if he wouldn't do his job which he did. Would never do business with any company that starts off this way.

We First, provider did not want to come out to meet with me (the wife) if my husband could not be there. This seems very 1950 ish, but the reason given was that they want both decision makers to be present. Since hubby doesn't usually make contractor decisions, he was irritated by this as well. They did agree to come to see just me, once we explained husband wasn't usually involved in these decisions. As luck would have it, hubby WAS home when they arrived. Very slick, very professional demo was given by clark-adams - with some high pressure to sign. Salesman was very good at what he did tho - and definitely was not taking advantage of us. We did sign, but then immediately regretted doing so. A quick check revealed that Home Depot and Lowe's offer very similar windows for less... and Cook's Windows even cheaper. We took advantage of our 3 day cancel prerogative (thanks State of CA law!) and cancelled out of the contract.

The sales rep was punctual and very pleasant. He had a very organized, albeit long. fact filled presentation. However since I had done my homework on windows , I knew some of the features of these particular windows and feel that they are among the best on the market. I wanted to skip part of the presentations as I had seen Bob Vila demonstrate these windows on TV. I was interested in the data on the installers. I also knew these windows were expensive which is why I had not previously had them installed. However when I saw the ad in Angie's List that installation was 50% off and that there was an additional 10% off I was hopeful that it would be affordable since I am planning to replace windows in 2 houses..By the time we got to the pricing, I was weary of discussing the windows, and the initial price was clearly too high for me. I was offered discounts and another less expensive product line, and I believe that if the original price had been lower,I might have signed up. But I was already preoccupied by getting bids from other companies. I still think the product is excellent and if money were no object I would have these installed..

I was given a supervisor on the phone who claimed it was a requirement of the BBB and said something about how they couldn't legally give me a quote if my wife wasn't present. I rapidly lost interest. It sounded to me like I was being fed misinformation and that makes me very leery at the start of a business relationship. Ultimately they refused to provide a quote. Why kind of customer service is that? I suspect they have some statistics that show if they can get the husband and wife together they can perform a hard sell and get a higher closure rate. I also suspect they don't count all the customer's like me (and hopefully you) whose sale they lost right from the start. The entire process of finding out they didn't want my money took 30 minutes of my time. Not a huge investment but 30 minutes I wish I had back, and one more reason to not deal with anyone that knocks on your door.
Description of Work: This started with a visit from a door-to-door salesman for the company. Usually I would never respond, but calling this company was on my list of things to do. I tried to arrange for a quote and like others here found this company to be both uncooperative and rude. They insisted that I schedule a time when both my wife and I could spend 90 minutes to three hours with them. I explained to them that I was the one responsible for both researching and moving ahead with this project.

I'm guessing this company must have plenty of business to go around and don't need any of the referrals here from Angies List. Perhaps they have an A rating when they do decide to do work for you, but apparently the time of the customers who haven't done business for them is not worth much. DO NOT use this company. They need to learn a thing or two about respecting prospective customers.
Description of Work: I was supposed to get a quote from this company but they cancelled once after making an appointment that I had made time for. The guy called me and cancelled after I had already moved my schedule around. They waited a few weeks to call me back and I was then told it was cancelled because my wife wasn't going to be there (which wasn't what I was told originally). When I told the man on the phone that it was difficult for both my wife and I to be at the house at the same time and it would only be me, he said "Alright, I'll take your name off the list", and then hung up.

Clark Adams Co. was my savior when it came to executing a difficult window installation! They found a solution where other window companies walked away. Let me paint you a picture: I had a broken 6 ft. picture window on the 3rd floor of my condo. The window could not be brought into the unit from the inside because of narrow staircases. It had to be removed and replaced from the outside. Not a big deal, unless you consider that the window was located over a slanted driveway which meant it had to be hand removed & lifted 4 stories high. Add to this that a Juliet balcony was 2 floors below the window, but it was slanted so you could not simply place ladders there. They had to create a small scaffold over the balcony to place the ladder upon. The old window wouldn't bulge so they had to tape it up then break it and remove piece by piece. Then they called in extra help to hand lift the new window. It took 5 men 7 hours, but they got it done! David MacNeill was great at explaining the window options when he made the sale. Al Salazar was very helpful in organizing the installation dates despite my having to reschedule several times. Herminio Bermudez, of Renewal by Andersen, led the crew through the creative installation, was very polite, and cleaned up the site before leaving. I would recommend this company time and again.
