Do not Use Plycon for Shipping! We recently purchased two handcrafted wooden Windsor chairs with a two tone distressed milk paint finish ($1,400 each) from a craftsman in New York State and had them shipped by Plycon to our home in Northern California. We paid a fee of $770 for the shipment including insurance and white glove delivery service, which includes unpacking the items from their shipping containers, placing the items in the home, and removing all packing materials. At delivery, we were informed that one of the chairs was broken (seat split). The other was ok, but we refused delivery since they were a matching set of chairs. Dealing with Plycon on this issue was a disaster from start to finish! Throughout the process, communication with Plycon was totally erratic, unreturned phone calls, no communication of delivery schedule, missed appointments etc. We were yelled at and lied to on multiple occasions when we questioned their behavior. Plycon insisted on taking care of the furniture repairs themselves rather using a professional restorer or the original chair maker, or filing an insurance claim for a new chair. The repairs were totally butchered and unprofessional. The two tone colors of the milk paint finish had not been matched and the distressed look was completed with what appeared to be silver spray paint. In fact, the spray paint also left drips on the seat and covered a few of the undamaged spindles in addition to patches on the seat. The redelivery of the chairs after repairs was particularly unprofessional. No photos of the restoration work were provided prior to redelivery as promised. We were not notified of the redelivery schedule. Instead they dropped off the crated chairs on our front doorstep when we were not home. They did not unpack the chairs for us so the we could examine and accept the repairs, and they did not remove the shipping materials (white glove service). Plycon later emailed a copy of the bill of lading that had a signature forged on the “accepted by” line. We found this BOL to be fraudulent and an unconscionable business practice. What they were in effect doing was stating that we had accepted the white glove delivery, and had approved the repaired condition of the delivered goods. Those facts were clearly untrue. At this point rather than continuing to deal with the shipper, we decided to cut our losses and make the repairs through a local furniture restorer a a cost of $500. As a final note, a Plycon agent suggested that I contact Bill Morgan director of operations in their NY office, but Mr. Morgan had no interest in working with us. After multiple attempts to contact him and leaving two detailed voicemail messages, we have not received any return calls. In retrospect, we should have read the many reviews of Plycon on the internet before we shipped with them. We advise any potential users of Plycon’s shipping services to read the numerous negative reviews first. Most of the reviewers have had similarly bad experiences with this company. From our standpoint, Plycon has a totally unconscionable business ethic. We will never use them again and advise everyone to avoid them at all costs.

Beyond Horrible! We oversaw a shipment to 6 states for a client and not only did they majorly screw it up they added insult to injury by being completely rude and unprofessional in “helping” us to resolve the issues that came up. The shipment took 8 weeks, items were lost and broken. A month later still no one will even take a claim much less offer a discount. We filed a complaint with the BBB and all I can do at this point is warn everyone who might be considering using this company-DO NOT DO IT!!! NIGHTMARE!!!!!!

They Finally made delivery after waiting weeks for them to show up. Tremendously disfunctional company in my opinion. I finally paid them after settling for the damaged freight, and finally after they delivered to a very very frustrated customer. They ignore the fact that people matter.. they roll their own way and ask you to "work with them" knowing they are ineffective and frustrating to work with. No control or system that works convenience of their customer. Their system is "whenever" or when convenient with them. I found them to be passive aggressive, calous, and unprofessional... frustrating to the highest level. Buyer beware. I will never use them or suggest anyone use them. The aforementioned is My personal opinion after being in business for over 40 years, they are by far the grand champion of frustration/dysfunction... again, all my opinion. I lived through this. Never again.
Description of Work: Actually, made me and my customer's tremendously frustrated over the course of the last year (2015).. several instances... My bad decision to work with these people... I will no longer do business with this company. My Experience? ..Very Bad Service. They : No Show, then weeks later, typically show up at off hours ( after my company hours 8:00pm), My customer's have requested information... they typically would not respond timely (because they didn't know)... then, damaged product, failed to return calls, Had to contact the president of the company to get resolve. Wasted lots of valuable time. Hostile attendants, even hung up on me when I asked for information. I simply asked for information about my shipments, and pick up's deliveries, and they never called back. I had to contact their "home" office in N.Y. ... and had just as bad service. AWFUL.

Description of Work: We contracted with Transit Systems for the work - and paid them. Plycon workers who picked up the furniture were prompt, courteous and very careful. | |The problem we had was not being able to track the shipment. I needed to call Transit Systems to find out where the shipment was and approximate delivery. It took longer than we expected so we became concerned for the safety of the shipment. | |It is difficult to have multiple carriers! | |I would recommend Plycon have a tracking system, the customer could use to avoid this.

I wasn't exactly happy with them. From the beginning things were rough. I asked for a quote and the woman was annoyed that she had to fax it to me. I scheduled for them to drop everything off when I would be home but they dropped it all of while I wasn't there. They damaged an antique fire screen and said they would repair it but didn't so correctly. Now I am going to have to pay to get it done somewhere else.

This company has bases in several states and although their CA base is in Southern Calif., they cover most of the state. I found the company on the web and used their on-line free quote form. I did this with several companies. I got a quote back within 24 hours with an 800 phone number to call with any questions. Their quote was well under all others. When I phoned to firm up the move, the woman was concerned I was requesting too high a packing service - that a lower cost service would work fine with what I was shipping. And she was right. I was given a date for pick-up - about 3 weeks out. They explained how the move would go - that they would call the night before with a pick up time within a 3 hour frame. Then they'd call the day of pickup when they were on the way. They called at 9:30 a.m. and were there at 10 a.m. We showed them the items to be shipped and they handled it. Hardly knew they were there. About a half hour later we signed the receipt and they were off. We had been given a delivery time estimate which they hit right on. And the furniture was just fine.
Description of Work: Plycon moved four pieces of furniture (old but not antiques - valuable in sentiment), two dressers and two end table cabinets, from San Jose, CA to Arkansas (residence to residence). They wrapped and loaded each piece at our home; and then unloaded and unwrapped each piece at the home in Arkansas.

They are based in Los Angeles but they are a nation-wide carrier. We have been using them for at least 10 years now. The distance is not a problem because I’ve used them to relocate people from places like New York, Chicago and Ohio. They are just the best, but they are guys that you would meet at your home or whatever. They are tough, hardworking guys but are very nice and helpful. We’ve never had a claim about scratches or breakages with them at all; you are almost certain to get some damage but I don’t think that we have ever had a claim. The price might be a little bit higher than average. They are not a budget moving company but they are still within reach. One of their divisions moves expensive antiques, art, rare cars and things like that but they also do households. I’m not sure if they provide packing services.
Description of Work: We use Plycon Transportation Group in my business to relocate people to and from San Diego from anywhere.
