Chris returned my phone call within 24 hours of my initial request for information. He provided comprehensive information about his company's moving services, insurance and policies via telephone. We scheduled an appointment for someone to visit our apartment for a written estimate. The estimator arrived on the early end of the window of time, took a quick look over our apartment and provided a written estimate.

Chris' Moving Men couldn't have been better. Their estimator, Frank, came to my house and gave me an estimate of $2,111 for the move. They scheduled packers for us in case we didn't finish packing ourselves(we did). We rescheduled the move once because the wood floors in our new house weren't finished on time and there was no problem. On the day of the move, they showed up promptly with five men and two trucks. They worked exceedingly hard. Sometimes they carried three heavy boxes on their backs at once. I have no idea how they got the heavy, tall bookcases down the stairs, or a super heavy solid wood desk either. It was so nerve-racking for me that I couldn't watch and I went outside. My old house has a staircase with cathedral ceilings. Chris' guys balanced like acrobats on an unopened ladder on the stairs and removed the art and the picture hangers. I couldn't bear to watch and I went outside again. These guys are terrific athletes! All of the men were polite, friendly and well dressed. Once the trucks were loaded, they took a 30 minute lunch break. At the new house, they put down rubber runners everywhere to protect the floors. They helped us set up and move furniture. Our new house is short on storage but it has a huge attic. I marked 50 or more boxes and awkward items(such as bed frames, large family portraits, etc.)for the attic and they cheerfully climbed the steep, narrow ladder to the attic putting the things up there. It was a very hot day and there were fires raging in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. It must have been at least 120 degrees in the attic. I wouldn't be surprised it it was 130. Outside, ashes were raining down and Chris' men tried hard not to let the ashes blow into the house and to dust off the ashes before moving the furniture inside. Despite the heat and hard work, the men were very cheerful and accommodating and asked if there was anything else they could help us with while they were there. We ended up paying $600 less than the estimate because they were so fast and we had packed well. In the past, I've had hourly movers who move slowly and you end up paying more than the estimate. Not with Chris' Moving Men! I couldn't believe the price for the hard work of these men. We lost an acrylic chair mat but they found it two days later in the truck and delivered it to us. We also lost a small 12" plastic table top in the move. They searched hard for it but couldn't find it. It belonged to a cheap $50 little table and was no big deal. I told them not to spend any more time looking for it. None of my china, crystal, silver, glass or other fragile items was damaged or lost. I definitely saved a ton of money with this company. Moving was a very stressful experience and they made it as pleasant as possible. I will be sending a letter to the real estate agents who sold me the new house recommending this company.

The experience was a good one. An estimator came out (free of charge) and talked to me about the move in advance. He was punctual and accurately estimated the cost of the move. He also scheduled the move for the day I preferred. A few days before the actual move someone from the main office called me again to confirm all was still on for the appointed day. On moving day a team of VERY efficient and friendly/courteous men came and packed our house. The following day they returned and packed the truck, drove it, and unpacked. Throughout they were careful and considerate and followed my requests about where I wanted items. Moving is always stressful but this company made it go as smoothly as possible. Putting one's possessions in the hands of complete strangers is difficult to do but this company really came through. Highly recommended!

We were nervous at the beginning, about the whole prospect of hiring a moving company. The guy who did the estimate was very straight forward and upfront. He made sure they would only move what needed to be moved. It was an accurate estimate. One of the movers was late, but they did have plenty to do and it didn't seem to slow them down. It was a little confusing with who was there and what was charged per hour, but it didn't cause a problem in the end. One piece of furniture was damaged in the move. The top of a china cabinet was slid and received a scratch, but they did try to come fix it. The repair was satisfactory. They did not quickly take responsibility for the damage. While performing the repair, they stated that it really wasn't their fault, but I feel it is something that a professional mover should know what he is doing and should have avoided it.

They were very professional with the complete move. They were knowledgeable with the packing and everything arrived in good order. I was well satisfied with their work and the move.

I was very pleased with them. Their prices were very reasonable. They showed up when they said they would and did what they said they would do.

Absolutely great overall! I had a four levels with over 12 rooms full of furniture and 'stuff'. The first day, they had six men pack everything up very carefully and labeled with detail. The second day, was loading the trucks. Since it was built in the 1920's it had very narrow hallways and staircases. The driveway was too steep for a truck so everything had to be hand trucked or carried up/down hill or stairs. Six guys again came and worked from 8:30 until 6:00. They hardly took a break, other than for the pizza I bought them! The third day, they drove the trucks down to San Diego. They got there and unloaded everything within about five hours. Everything went perfectly! They were always on time, even early. They were extremely polite and very customer focused. The lead man Kiki, was great, extremely efficient. He even came in at $1,000 under the estimate! I could not have imagined a better move!

While all estimators of major moving companies were pleasant, our experience was more like being Goldilocks and dealing with ''3 bears'', or in this case, four moving companies. Chris was the only one who explained how he arrived at his numbers for our move. He had packing tips, too! He encouraged us to check with Better Business Bureau and the Feds. Because of our issues with moving our Baby Grand Piano he gave us contact information on repeat customers who moved all their belongings, including a *Steinway grand piano** from So. Cal. to Kentucky in spring of 2006. We called and got the (positive) scoop from them on how their piano was handled. They had statuary and art objects that needed special care, which is not us. When they move back to Cal. They told us they will hire Chris' Moving Men and the long-haul movers Chris has used for years. They said that out of the TWO (!!) huge trucks that their belongings filled, only a lampshade was damaged.

You hear so many horror stories about moving companies, I am happy to recommend Chris' firm. I first used him over 20 years ago when he had just started the company. Was delighted to find him still in business. His guys were good then & are good now - honest, reliable, careful, and hard-working. They arrived a half-hour EARLY for the job with a mid-size truck, & they worked steadily until the move was done. They handled my fragile things carefully, & were very polite & accommodating about putting things where I asked them to. Although they had estimated it would be a 5-hour job, they were done in 4, & that's all they billed me for. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone moving in the greater LA area.

ALL THE MEN ARE COURTEOUS. WORKERS AT THE STORAGE FACILITY WERE VERY ACCOMMODATING WHEN WE NEEDED TO GET SOMETHING OUT FROM STORAGE BEFORE THE DELIVERY TO THE NEW HOUSE.
