5 H GARAGE DOORS INC

Two years ago 5H Garage Doors convinced me to replace the motor, rail, and chain on my electric garage door rather than repair it. It worked fine for two years. Recently, the motor sold to me by 5H began to malfunction. Mike, the repair person, originally said my remote was not working. But his remote had the same problem. Then, Mike said the sensors were not working. But they were cleaned and reset and the problem continued. Then, Mike said the circuit board of the unit must not be working. He told me there's no warranty and it was not his problem to fix unless I wanted to buy a new board from him. He said he'd offer no warranty that it would work once he installed it and left. Then, he charged me $65 for his visit. I called the owner who promised to investigate and call me back. He did not. Miserable experience. 1-7-21 The owner, contacted me today by telephone. He was unhappy about the review. I asked why he didn't called back; he indicated he didn't have cellphone coverage all yesterday. Previously, he said the circuit board needed to be replaced. Today, he said the unit is working fine and suggested the user, my tenant, whom he referred to as "the old lady," was to blame. He said she must be pushing the remote button multiple times. When I explained my other tenant, a young man, was having the same problem with the garage door, he suggested the young man is also using the remote improperly. He also indicated he was the person who made the site visit, even though he told me 2 days earlier he was the owner and needed to contact the person who made the site visit to gather information. It just keeps getting worse. 1-14-21 Update: Anthony from Budget Garage Doors came today and lubricated the track and adjusted the force of the motor. The door is now working fine.

Mike was very quick to respond to my request. He offered to come by and look at my situation that day. After inspecting the door and spring, he informed me he could replace the main spring right then and there. However he inspected the door closely and told me it was in poor condition and needed replaced fairly soon. It could last another a year or maybe two. Then again maybe not. This I already knew from seeing my garage door every day. The door was over 30 years old, (an old extremely heavy wooden door). I knew parts of it was on its last leg. That door was over 500 lbs and he explained to me it was not properly installed in the first place. After the new door was installed it was easy to see how the old door was done so wrong. He had the new door ordered and made to fit ( I don't have the standard 7 foot opening) and had the job completed within 1 week. The new one looks great and it is sealed properly so my garage will no longer get huge puddles of water in it when it rains. He was very professional, polite, and friendly which is sadly not as common today as it used to be. Plus it was nice to have and support a local small business.

Our garage wall unit was not working. I contacted the 5H Garage early the next morning and Mike offered to come right out the same day. He saw that the wrong unit was installed and replaced it quickly. We haven't had any issues since. We will definitely recommend this company to our friends and family and will use them again.

Mike phoned me regarding his having been notified by HomeAdvisor that I was interested in purchasing a garage door. I had already phoned two garage companies that had been recommended. Neither had returned my call. Mike Ghais arrived at my home within one hour because I had to leave home in two hours. I was impressed with Mike’s willingness to accommodate my schedule. Mike examined the garage door and parts and he explained each part and whether or not it could be used. One part was usable. Mike showed me pictures of various types of garage doors and he explained how they operated. He discussed steps involved in installation and various materials, colors, accessories, etc. I chose roll up doors with windows. I appreciated Mike educating me about procedure, choices and cost. Mike would have installed the door within a couple of days; however, the windows had to be ordered. The garage door was installed on Jan 2, 2020. I watched the entire installation process: Mike and his worker removed hardware that had to be disposed of. They effortlessly installed new hardware; meticulously measured the door opening and cut 2 x 4 x 8 foot wood strips for molding around the top and sides of garage door and weather strips were installed on the bottom of garage door. Mike made a positive impression when we first met because of his promptness, positive demeanor, knowledge and years of experience. I did not interview any other company. After watching Mike and his worker install the garage door, I knew that I had made the right choice. Mike Ghais is hardworking, honest and his prices are reasonable. Additionally, He repairs garage doors, is available 24 hours for emergencies and he offers various payment options. Mike is licensed, bonded, and insured. I not ONLY highly recommend Mike, I feel lucky to have had him do the work.
