i would not refer anyone to these people! I was referred to them by the Apple Genius Bar in Corte Madera for difficulties I was having with iCloud, syncing all the various devices, etc. when I made the initial phone appt., the person on the phone (who happens to be in Southern CA, by the way) sounded like she knew EXACTLY what difficulties I was having and imparted great confidence that they would be able to help me. There are two guys that "are" Interfaced in Marin County. The first one that showed up had absolutely NO idea whatsoever what he was doing. I heard him on the phone to his associate saying "Help! I'm in iCloud h***!" Really? Confidence started flowing out the door at that point. They didn't charge me for that visit ($160/hr) but wasted an hour of my time. Sent the other guy the next time, who seemed a lot more knowledgeable. Without going into the whole long, involved story, the upshot is they convinced me that my hardware was "bad" and about to crash and I needed a new computer. I also "needed" a new printer. And a new wireless system (the WiFI had only been installed about a year ago, by a very capable guy.) Not to mention new software and many, many hours of "training" time. This probably all would have been fine, if everything had then worked like it was supposed to. But it didn't. I still ended up getting my old standby Mac support person out to finally tweak everything to where it should be before leaving the country for an extended stay. I even engaged my teenage granddaughter who was able to fix something in about 10 minutes that the Interfaced guy had me spend literally HOURS on, that still wasn't fixed. To be perfectly fair, Interfaced did credit me with two or three visits since it was very clear that my problems were not being solved. But still, I feel that I wasted untold hours, endured much frustration, not to mention all of the money, much of which probably did not need to be spent. I have called the Apple Genius Bar and lodged a complaint with them against this company. There is an impression that they refer people to these consultants who turn around and recommend additional hardware purchases -- sort of a mutual back-scratching deal. I mentioned this to the manager at Apple and he didn't deny it. He reiterated that these consultants go through a certification program with Apple. They're supposed to know what they're doing. In any case, beware.

Response from Interlaced
Member, I do apologize for your experience. However, after reviewing the notes for the sessions, it apparent that many problems you had were out of our control. This issue with iCloud, for example, was a glitch on Apple's end regarding passwords. We have since collaborated with them and resolved it so no further glitches will occur. Your computer's hard drive failure is also not something we could have prevented. As we do not perform hardware repair, and your computer was in warranty, there is no monetary benefit to us or Apple to recommend a repair. It simply would save you a headache and possible data loss by taking action before the imminent hard drive failure. Due to your dissatisfaction, we have been more then fair with crediting your our time to resolve any remaining issues or training on how to use your equipment. I hope you can see how this is a rare set of circumstances that do not happen often. We do stand by our work and our consultants. This is the first complaint of this sort we've received and take it very seriously. If there is anything else you'd like to communicate to us, I'm available. - Mark
