Description of Work: I asked for an estimate for an ac unit that would just cool my bedroom. They said it would cost $7,500. That was way more than I wanted to spend so I did nothing. Since then I know a number of people who have had this done for around $1,500 plus or minus.

Description of Work: Annual Maintenance contract services for which we paid an annual cost of $100. We have 2 AC and 2 Heat Pumps. General Air Conditioning installed 4 "boosters" for a cost of $1000 which they said were needed to help the startup process. Later we found out that the parts which General Air charges $250 apiece, cost only about $30 apiece if you buy them yourself. Of course, one failed and rather than replace the item, they tried to sell us a ne AC unit at upwards of $10k. This is a company run run by a con artist and has been reported to the CA State Attorney.

Description of Work: I used General Air Conditioning & Heating and they installed totally new duct work because my house was built in 1964, put two feet two feet of installation and a new air-conditioning and heating system from a 3 ton to a 5 ton.

Description of Work: They replaced a part in my A.C. that was defective. I called other local A.C. companies in the area and found out that Generals repair bill was allmost double what it should have been. This the first and last time I will hire these RIPPOFFS! General advertises heavily on the local T.V. stations they drive trucks with fancy paint jobs and and wear clean white shirts. That is not important to me. Not being Ripped Off is. If you like to be RIPPED OFF call General!

Description of Work: Had someone come out for an estimate, he said between $10,000-$12,000 and did not specify which units could vary price. I asked why other companies could use exisiting duct work (I have a swamp cooler) he could not answer. He never dent me an estimate.. The quotes I have been getting are around $5-7k.

Description of Work: General Air-conditioning and Heating provided me with a bid and then installed a new HVAC unit in my home. The General's sales team and technicians are first rate. There are a lot of companies selling and servicing HVAC's in the Coachella Valley. I researched an received bids from many of them before choosing the General. I have to say that I found the General to be the best of the best in terms of service, professional presentation, and quality of work. I highly recommend this company.

+ -1 moreThe General is the one and only company you should consider. A wonderful experience ! This is how all companies should be. Honest and willing to go the distance. They called a huge crane to put the condensed in place at no extra charge. With all the rebates they gave me, the overall price was thousands below my other estimates. Do use his company. You won't be disappointed !

+ -1 moreIt went very well. They losened the cap on the black pipe coming out of the house and the clog cleared. Not being satisfied, they used a rooter to clear up any other problems. They couldn't find any but will return with a camera if the drain would get clogged again.

+ -1 moreThey seem to be efficient. They seem to be very active in the valley and a lot of people are using them. They know exactly what they are doing and looking for. They check the system. They check if the pressure in the system is correct. I guess that’s what is done with the air conditioning unit. I haven’t spoken to them much. They go out and check the outside equipment. They take the pressure of the inside and check the vents and the filters. That seems to be standard for each. I wasn’t here when the heat compressor was installed. I can’t tell about that installation. I think my friend was using them and they were doing it properly. They did provide me with all the materials I needed for the inspection. They don’t replace things that don’t need to be replaced. They show you the air filter and then you can judge yourself whether it should be replaced. They don’t seem to be cheap in anyway. They seem to use good quality things. I would use them again in the future. There is no reason to change them.
Description of Work: I used General Air Conditioning & Heating. They put in a heat pump in April of 2009. It was serviced in January of this year and in June. In June, when the air pump was installed, they didn’t charge me anything. That was because the air conditioning was defective and it was replaced. They gave a credit to buy two or three checkups at a time. I have not paid for a checkup in a year.

+ -1 moreTHEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND RETURNED PHONE CALLS. THE MANAGER CAME OUT TO CHECK ON THE WORKERS AND MADE SURE THEY WERE DOING A GOOD JOB. THEY FINISHED AND IT WAS UP AND RUNNING IN NO TIME.
