 + -1 moreI had another remodeling company doing my three bathrooms remodel. That company didn't write everything in the contract. So things like removing old faucets, taking bathtub out etc, I was asked to pay extra 2000 dollars. Then a friend of mine told me about Angie's list, I registered and found "Wildwood Specialty Plumbing". Richard came the same afternoon and took the faucet , the draining pipe and the bathtub out without charging me. He told me that he understood my frustration. He showed me what is a real man. When my house's remodeling was done, I called Richard again hiring him to change three toilets, six faucets,three shower, one bathtub faucet, one kitchen sink and faucet and all those draining pipes. The job is not fully done yet, but I am so happy with Richard's performance. He has intagrite!

 + -1 moreThe provider was a little late but called in advance to give me notice. He came only a few minutes late and was more than apologic. He worked quickly and professionally and all is working perfectly after he left. The work he did on the shower was excellent.
Description of Work: I called him to repair two toilets which he did quickly. Since he did this task so quickly he checked my shower at no extra charge. I not only will use this provider again, but I have already recommended him to ours.

 + -1 moreRichard is great! He taught us a great deal about what our issues were and how taking these minor repair steps now, prevented very-pricey major incidents from occurring in the future. We changed our start time a few times but, he was clear in communication about what his obstacles were that pushed our appointment time back and we understand running your own business is never easy. Bottom line is to have your plumber show up and work professionally and meticulously than just arrive on time and still not do the job the right way. We will hire him again and highly recommend Richard and Wildwood Specialty Plumbing to our friends and community members. He even had the patience to visit with our little puppy when he was done! Professional plumber and a great guy!
Description of Work: Replaced all three shower valves, handles and trim. Removed the very old stripped, worn, and crusty valves and replaced with three brass valves and dressed them with beautiful chrome and porcelain handles and trim.  + -1 moreIn a nutshell, what I thought was going to be a very expensive repair and a lot of hassle (I was in so much pain and sick from medication) it actually turned out so well that honestly, I feel like there is a person out there with an excellent work ethic, he is not trying to scam me or lie to me so there is some hope for the world. I was smiling and laughing until I looked in the mirror and noticed that my front tooth was missing. They must have dropped me in the OR or somethng because my legs were all black and blue... anhyway, I WAS STILL HAPPY!.... That is why I got Angie's list because every workman who has ever walked into this house (I've been here 8 years) has done, not just a bad job, but beyond any understanding of just what I hired them for and now I can laugh, but some were really quite funny. I'll have to get some pictures for you. One guy, had a coupon for upholstery cleaning for $44.40. His written estimate was $1,272.00. I said I wanted it cleaned, not replaced. I'll be pursuing him in court .. sjo
Description of Work: I had surgery (an edpidural) for pain on 7/12/2012 and when I returned from the hospital, I had no hot water because the pilot light had gone out and I could not relight it (I was still under the anesthesia I think) and when relit, it would not stay lit.. At first I called the Plumber who had originally supplied and installed the water heater and according to them it was exactly 6 yrs old and out of warranty, now isn't that amazing timing.. They spent maybe 30 minutes looking at the appliance, and then told me I needed a new thermocouple and they just happened to have 3 on-board their truck. I guess they tried them (I was mostly confined to the couch upstairs because of my body caste) and the water heater is in the garage and it was also about to cost me +$1,200.00 because really, isn't that easier than having to look stuff up you know like research it and try to save the customer some money by installing a new part. Nah,a new water heater is better and more money for us. I checked Angie's list very carefully and decided to call Frank at Wildwood Plumbing. Frank was here within an hour. He also determined that it was the thermocouple but that it needed one that was left-threaded so he would have to order the part. Part came in on Saturday, frank spent 1.5 hrs replacing the old parts, got the pilot light lit and it stayed on, and voila, Saturday night I had my first hot shower in it seems like a year.

 + -1 moreThe "innards" of the faucets were quite badly corroded and had started to leak. We didn't want to replace them and in fact were unsuccessful in identifying satisfactory replacements. Richard came out and looked things over and then returned later with parts (and some imagination and resourceful thinking) and reconstructed both sets of fixtures. He takes pride in his work; he leaves the work area even cleaner than when he arrived. I'd definitely work with him again.
Description of Work: Repaired a pair of bathroom fixtures so that they did not have to be replaced.

 + -1 moreI had called numerous Plumbers because my kitchen sink dispenser was broken and the garbage disposal was clogged. I was impressed by Richards knowledge and quick response. He came over and gave me options to save money on replacing my faucet. He even cleared the drain, and without charging me right then, let me go a couple days to find a faucet I liked, then came back and replaced it along with all the accessories. He was quick, knowledgable, and honest, and very fair priced. I would definitely use him again, and recommend him to others.

water heater repair
 + -1 moreRichard fixed a leak at the to pof our water heater only to find another one coming off the hot water valve. He did not charge us for this initial service. He said the water heater needed to be replaced which we already suspected but hoping that replacing the cold water valve would fix the leak. He came out the next afternoon with a new water heater. Took the old one. Washed mold off the walls. Put in a drip pan, which should have been installed in the first place which would have prevented our walls from getting mold. We have found many shoddy and short cut workmanship from our builder, D.R. Horton. Richard did a great job in about 4 hours and charged us a reasonable price.
Description of Work: Richard replaced a leaky worn out 13 yr. old hot water heater which had been leaking for days.

 + -1 moreThe entire experience was excellent. From the time I called Richard (the owner) to the time time the work was completed, we were highly satisfied. I called and spoke with Richard late on a Sunday afternoon and he gave us the very first appointment on Monday. Richard was prompt, clean, polite and courteous. His work was fastidious and he fully explained everything that was wrong as well as what he needed to do to fix it. Every detail was taken care of and he did not leave a mess behind for us to clean up. Richard even checked out the shower in my other bathroom and cleaned out the drains in there as well. His pricing was excellent and so much appreciated to a family on a tight budget! My faucets are both now working better than they ever have and I am extremely satisfied. I highly recommend Richard and Wildwood Specialty Plumbing.
Description of Work: My secondary bathroom shower was not working, the water would only come out through the faucet and not through the shower head. In addition, the hot water would almost completely shut off in the middle of running the water. Richard took the faucet completely apart and installed new washers. He also cleaned out the drain traps in that shower as well as those in the other bathroom.

 + -1 moreAlthough Richard worked for more than 3 hours on this project, he only charged us for 2 hours and some parts. We will certainly call upon him in the future for other plumbing projects and we are glad that we have finally found a reliable and highly professional plumber in our area.
Description of Work: We needed a bathroom faucet replaced. Richard was punctual, professional and courteous at all times. Hed did an excellent job in replacing the facuet, the water hoses and the shut-off valves under the sink (which were corroded). He also replaced the drain part of the sink. In addition, he meticulously cleaned in and around the sink area and underneath the sink before he left. We are extremely pleased with his work.

Description of Work: I had a leak in the master bathroom toilet. The seal was aged which was the reasons it was leaking & the bolts needed to be sawed off since they were frozen. Since it is a rental property & the insides were also older & looked like on there last days we replaced them, too. Richard, the plumber, gladly looked at all my plumbing to assure me everything was fine. I was concerned with the kitchen sink & he agreed it needed to be re-grouted to prevent damaging the counter.  + -1 moreWhile replacing the faucet handle parts, we discovered that the fixtures hadn't been sealed properly to begin with and this was contributing to under-the-sink leaking. Because the fixtures hadn't been sealing they were coming loose and wiggling around allowing water to leak into the cabinet below and caused the core of the sprayer to break when bumped a little. Richard, the plumber, had to make two trips to the store for parts. He was very polite and curteous, patiently explained what he was doing and why (we liked that a lot), spent more time fixing our newly discovered problems than he'd slotted for the original issue instead of making us wait for him to make an appointment to come back later (priceless). In short, we will use him again, and again, and again!
Description of Work: Replaced internal parts of our kitchen faucet handle (they'd worn out and were leaking), fix a broken sprayer, and resealed around all the kitchen faucet fixtures (which had been neglected during the original installation several years ago).

We had a couple plumbers and handymen try to diagnose and fix the problem, with limited success. Wildwood put 4 hours of work into removing/replacing sink caulking and changing the way that the faucet was attached to the granite to make everything water tight.

Description of Work: We had a leak from the garbage disposal and thought we needed a new one. Called Richard and he was there in 2 hours and found the leak at the top of the disposal (valve not installed properly previously). He fixed the leak and will be providing estimates for future work we want performed. Very happy with the work done today.

 + -1 moreIt was on the spur of the moment that I called him from Angie's list. I knew of other plumbers that I could have called, but were not entirely happy with their past work for me. Richard listened to my problem and fit me in his schedule that day. He called that he was running late at the job before my appointment and he gave me a revised arrival time. He arrived 10 minutes before the revised time and listened to my situation, he discussed several possibilities he gave me an estimate of the cost and the time. There was no pressure or vague answers from him. He was WONDERFUL! He finished the job quickly, cleaned up after himself. You wouldn't know that I had just had a plumber in there unless i told you.
Description of Work: We could smell a sewage smell and saw seepage coming from the bottom of the toilet in the back bathroom. The toilet had been rotto-rooter last December by another plumbing company which made a complete mess of the bathroom and left their trash and cleaning remnants behind as well. Richard had to re-seat the toilet due to wax seal failure and replace the gasket as well as replace improper rusty brass plated steel bolts that were being used. He also did the Tile Adhesive Caulk around the base of the toilet. He didn't waste time, got right to work, and he cleaned up after himself. He left everything perfect! Clean and neat !
