+ 0 moreOverall experience was a disaster. I tried to tell the full story in the "Services Performed" section. I won't repeat it here. Eric Hansen .. or mayber Hanson, is the current owner of RC Electronics in Thousand Oaks, CA. He alleges to be able to fix electronic components including TV's. I found the company name in the phone book. He came to our home, removed most of the interior electronic components from inside our 65" TV set, said he had to take them to his shop for repair and wanted me to pay up-front for the cost of repair parts .. a total of about $450. He has never returned to install the allegedly repaired parts, nor will he ever return phone calls. In my opinion, he is a total fraud, con artist. Never ever use RC Electronics
Description of Work: This company used to be owned by Ron Blaine. He says he sold it to the current owner, Eric Hansen ... or maybe Hanson, a year or two ago. Eric is a total fraud! In searching the internet there are two addresses for this business. Neither is any good. The Thousand Oaks Blvd. address used to be good, but when the business was sold they closed the store front shop. The other address on La Paloma Circle is Ron Blaine's home apartment. I have found 2 phone numbers. The one listed on the internet sites and in the phone books is (805) 373-1902. I am guessin it is a cell phone. The other number is (805) 428-7460. This one may be a land line .. perhaps to a home. Both are answered by Eric who promises to call you right back. However, if he recognizes the number that has called, he will never return the call. A month ago I called with a problem to my Mitsubishi rear projection TV. Eric showed up, said there were internal problems and that he needed to remove parts and tak them to his shop. He also wanted a check for the necessary replacement parts. The next day he called and said he had found additional problems with the parts he had removed and needed to return and remove the power supply unit so he could fix it as well. He returned, removed the additional components, and requested another $250 for more parts. He talks a good games, seemed reliable, and so I stupidly paid him more money. Now, he has the working components of my TV set and my money, and I have an expensive piece of junk. Eric will not return phone calls. I think if he received a call from a number he did not recognize, he would respond quickly. Never, ever use this guy. He apparently worked for Ron Blaine for a number of years. Based on my experience and other internet reviews of his current work, I am very doubful that he knows anything about electronics repair.

+ -1 moreEach time Eric came to my house he asked for money in advance to buy parts etc. His appearance was dirty and his car filthy. He said I had a problem with caps being blown in my amplifier and poorly wired cross overs in my speakers. Initially, when he brought the parts back they worked okay for a short time, but the problems would reappear. On his last visit he needed to complete some wiring and said he would come back that evening to finish the job, but asked for $130 essentially to do work that he had already done (okay, I'm an idiot). That's the last I saw of him. I made numerous phone calls to the number above and left lots of messages, but they were never heard from him again. I eventually asked a friend who is an electrical engineer and audio hobbyist to look at the equipment (I don't like to take advantage of friends). He determined that the speaker appeared to be intentionally shorted using a hex wrench and that it appeared no work at all had been done on the amp. He did say I had a couple of fuses blown and he replaced those, the cause of which could be water or foreign material in an outdoor volume control used for my patio speakers. Upon further investigation I found several other consumer complaints about RC and Eric describing the exact same kind of behavior I discussed above, e.g. taking equipment and money and never returning calls. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND THIS MAN, HE IS A CROOK!
Description of Work: I was having trouble with my home theater stereo system. Some of my speakers weren't working or sounded fuzzy. I called Eric at RC and he came out several times taking my equipment to his home "lab", as he doesn't have a store front.
