Prestige Moving & Storage

Due to some unfortunate work situations we had made several moves in a very short time, Our employer moved us from NH to CA and the weight of the move accoridng to the certified CAT scale and United Van lines came to a total axal weight of 15,900. When we moved four months later, having sold off a few large items we told Prestige the approximate weight (we had made no new purchases). They charged us for the move based on my estimate with my weight ticket. The moment they walked in the door of my house (with mostly everything in boxes already-so there was no way they could tell what was in them) they stared going on that the move was going to be way over what I said. Low and behold, we drove with them to the scale and they came up with a weight of 21600 LBS, a woppping 5,700 lbs more then we had travelled with four months earlier. Of course things do happen, and mistakes are made, so there was just no way to prove we had not made any major purchases in the four months we had been in CA. Our items arrived, having been in storage with Prestige for one month on August 1, 2009. As we were temporary living in a fully furnished rental home everthing, EVERYTHING we owned went into four side by side storage units in MA, where they sat for one month. At the end of the one month we were offer employment in Las Vegas and so we packed up out car with two suicases and moved to LV. We contacted United Van lines to come and pick up our items in MA and drive to LV. We told them about the weight difference and they gave us a quote for both so that there would be no surprises. The night, after they picked up our items from the four storage units they drove to a CAT certified scale and weighed in, 14,700LBS. (this would make sense as we sold off, before we left CA, tires, two large antique pieces and donated various houshold items to animal rescue. As I said, there is no way to prove this, but without a doube Prestige somehow jacked up the weight by 6,900 (an additonal $3000). I talked to the United Van driver and asked how they could have done this since they had scale tickets. He said there were ways, adding weight to teh truck, dropping a car off before arriving to get our items and not telling us about teh drop off etc. To add to this, Prestige used some nasty brown packing tape that dtuck to everything. I have tone of photos to prove it. They even messed up packing teh TV's and put teh tape on them, for what reasons I do not know, they wrapped teh pads around them. Leather saddles have brown tape, humidifiers, exercise equipment, small table, everything. Some things we have been able to salvage, but most we have not and have just thrown it away. In several garage type storage bins that carried shovels and rakes we found dozens of beer cans and trash on the bottom. We also found beer cans in rubbermaid boxes (of with we have many), bedroom dressers etc, It is the most unprofessional move I have ever experiences, and considering we made three moves in under 6 months across county I feel confident I am a pro.
