Description of Work: Yesterday my Kenmore refrigerator quit making ice. I called American West Appliance to see what's going on. They sent Gary to do the job. He was a nice guy. I thought that the ice maker needed to be replaced, but the technician determined that there was no water coming to the unit, ice maker itself was fine. He replaced a water valve. He didn't try to sell me more expensive job. This company is a very honest contractor.

Description of Work: I telephoned the company to inquire about the cost to repair a washing machine. The representative gave me the cost to come to the house, only. The washing machine a had was too old to repair...parts were not available.

Description of Work: Called and received excellent service ( again) within the hour. They came and fixed the dryer, Ice maker (replaced), air conditioner fan and replaced the garbage disposal all with 2 hours. Excellent workers, very knowledgeable, prompt and quick !

Description of Work: My 10-year old KitchenAid washer stopped running, with a load of sheets inside. Being rushed to prepare for the guest's arrival, I panicked briefly. Then I called American West Appliance Repair. The technician came out within a couple of hours. He diagnosed the problem quickly, replaced a worn-out part, and cleaned some others, just in case. Part and labor came to under $200, a bargain given his skills and efficiency. He was a pleasure to deal with, provided great service and saved my day.

Description of Work: I had Vlad come out and take a look at my GE oven. He was at the door right at ten, we had an appointment scheduled between 10 and 12. It took him about 10 minutes to determine the problem. He had the replacement igniter in his truck. I couldn't believe how fast he had my oven working again. His many years of experience were obvious. He was very careful and made sure that everything was in order. I used this company before. American West Appliance is a very honest contractor.

Description of Work: I have known American West Appliance Repair for over 4 years. Their level of service is excellent. They are very knowledgeable and have the best repair prices. They guarantee all of their work but I have never needed them to come back to redo the job. Recently they provided thorough maintenance on my dryer. It was full of lint and needed service. The technician was right on time. He was reliable and clean. The rate was great!

Description of Work: When I made the appointment, I explained the problem was with the stove. I told her the stem of the oven control knob had come loose and would no longer turn. The service man arrived at the appoiintment time. I took him to the kitchen and showed him the stem was wobbly. He wiggled the stem and declared that I needed a new thermostat. I explained the thermostat was working perfectly the night before when the knob came loose. I asked him if he would remove the stove top and check to see if a nut needed tightening or if a screw fell out. He said he had been doing this for 30 years and knew what he was doing so there was no need to remove the stovetop until he returned with the new thermostat. He said it would be $264. I told him I would get another estimate and let him know. When my son got home from work, he said he would try to remove the stovetop himself and check the stem. He went to the hardware store, bought the correct screw bit for $7.00, removed the stovetop, and as suspected, found that 2 screws had fallen out of the bracket holding the knob stem. He replaced the 2 screws, replaced the stovetop, and tested the thermostat. It worked perfectly and still does. I paid the $35.00 service charge because they did come out, but I feel it was a complete rip off. I may be old, but I'm not stupid. I know no one no matter how good they think they are, can diagnose a bad thermostat by standing in the middle of the kitchen floor. I did call the company the next day to report my experience. The woman said she was the owner and Vlad was her best service man so I must be mistaken. She didn't even appologize for the poor service. My suggestion about this company is DON'T USE THEM!

Description of Work: Evaluated stability of washing machine; problem not seen, recommendations were provided. Fixed bleach tray/tube.

Description of Work: The aluminum exhaust/lint duct tube coming out of the back of the dryer was cracked, so one part of the tube was not quite connected to the extension. Therefore, moist air and some lint was escaping into the laundry room. I knew exactly what was wrong because I had pulled the dryer away from the wall and diagnosed the problem myself. I called this company based on the Angie's list reviews. I was happy that the service could be scheduled for the same day, and I was happy that they called a few hours later to say that they could arrive even earlier in the day due to the cancellation of the appointment before mine. Service man arrived on time and was professional and polite. However, because I had already pulled the dryer into a position from which the cracked tube could be easily accessed, and because I had already diagnosed the problem (and pointed it out to the service man), there was very little for him to do. He had to reclamp the two parts of the tube together and then seal the seam with some heavy duty aluminum tape. So he was done in a matter of minutes and on his way with the required service charge of $130. Now, to be fair and honest, I was informed of this service call charge while on the phone. I knew I would be charged this amount, and I made the appointment. BUT--since there was such a minimum of work to be done--I was disappointed, and that's why I can rate this company only average. I would give a higher rating to a company that would say, "Since i had to do so little and have been here such a short time, let me do some lint cleaning of the filter," for example. An "A" rating would be earned by a company who would consider cleaning the ducting (it was only 5 to 6 feet, easily accessed) and doing a thorough job. The service provided was cursory and basic, therefore the "C." I can get this kind of service anywhere, except from a company that it incompetent. I have no reason to assume this company is not competent, but I saw no evidence of excellence.

Description of Work: I have called them out twice for different appliances last year. Both times they were very nice and helpful on the phone, sent technicians out the same day at whatever time was convenient for me. Today they have fixed my GE gas oven. Mike the technician was very competent and friendly. He was very easy to work with, punctual and efficient. He replaced the igniter and did rewiring very fast. The cost was $230.
