It went great. Do whatever you can do to hepl these guys.
Description of Work: I already had plans approved by slo county. This was a major job on my part. I have completed 4 different owner builder homes and additions of my own from 1975 to 2007 in SLO county areas (atascadero/cayucos) and accelerating county requirements have just about made simple jobs like this entirely cost prohibitive for regular people like you and I. Frank and crew did an incredible job of starting and completing an 800 square feet addition to our home in Cayucos without stopping in less than 90 days in the winter( Dec to Fed, 2007). My wife and I were simply amazed. I was retired and worked along with Franks guys and helped where I could. (I'm 70 years old now) . I did all the electrical (easy work). Frank Cueva and Melissa Jones (Central Pacific Construction) were the best home owners construction folks I have ever worked period. Russ and Jeanette Taylor

I hired Mr.Cureva to remodal, update, and add onto my grandfathers house. Mr. Cueva is a smooth talker. He was nice to my children and once he had our money, he vanished. He destroyed the house leaving it without electricity, water, and sewage. Damage was close to $200,000. He took $150,000 and completed a suba par 500 sq foot foundation and that is it. Mr. Cueva bounced high dollar checks on the job which resulted with a lien placed on our property. He used our land as a dumping sited for other jobs. I still have toilets and other debris lying on our property. I called the SLO sheriff's office and reported this offense. After an investigation Mr. Cueva was apprehended. Unfortunately the SLO DA's office failed to prosecute the felony but did place two misdemeanors on Mr. Cueva. The SLO DA's office failed my family and I as I provided over 400 pages of documentation to support the case. They are as inept as Mr. Cueva. To date I have received very little restitution despite being owed a lot of money. Absolutley the worst experience I have ever had in my life. Our three children lost their college funds and my wife and I lost our retirement. We pay on a $300,000 mortgage with nothing to show for it. Still working with the State Contractors Board. I have spoken with many of Mr. Cueva's past clients and the stories are very similar to mine, except mine was the greatest loss financially. I would strongly recommend not using this person. With us, he showed know business ethics or conscious.,

Response from Central Pacific Construction
The member inherited a home that unfortunately needed more work than anticipated. The member's mood changed drastically once he was presented with the cost to repair the extra work. He by passed me and negotiated with my sub contractors directly for additional work for his financial gain. The member teaches for a living, he is well versed and took the time to produce a very one sided and extremely exaggerated case against me. He failed to pursue his complaint in a typical fashion by hiring a Lawyer filing and filing suit. He instead used our tax dollars and harassed the DA's office to work for him for free. It took the DA over a year to deal with this matter. The case was a civil matter, it was not a case that belonged in the DAs office. Because of the member's economic gain he pushed, harassed and wrote a never never report that made his case. The member caused my family to lose thousands of dollars. At the time of my contract termination, the member took the time to investigate the current jobs I had, he approached clients, slandered my name and caused me to lose many contracts. During the two-three year court battle, he lost his case against me. Nevertheless, he was relentless and figured a way to attack and discovered an error in my paperwork that caused me to settle with him. His anger towards me is unbelievable, he is a very frustrated person that is short tempered whom disguises his true personality. He turned our project into a very sour event due to his financial set backs. He was unable to afford the project, once he discovered that, it was unbelievable how much anger this man had towards me. He spent countless hours producing a "movie" about his project. He is one of those experiences/clients that some business/owners run into that will never forget. I recently discovered this negative posting. It truly hurts me to see that he has not filled his need to hurt my family. He has been awarded money that is not deserved. He continues to have that vendetta attitude towards me. II hope that those who read both sides of this posting will remember that there is always two sides to a story. In this case the clients story is one sided and harmful.

The project went smooth and was full of excitement. I look forward to having Frank and his family over to enjoy our new kitchen.
Description of Work: Frank not only assisted me in my bathroom and kitchen remodel but he also helped me with any other miscellaneous needs. He was always available for contact, his sub-contractors were professional and very reasonable without undermining quality. I am so very happy with the tile work. It was far more artistic than I anticipated. I am very please with his service and would recommend him to any of my friends. I was asked to submit this report so the public knows that Central Pacific Construction is a good company in comparison to the previous report which I was advised was far more the clients funding fault than the contractors.

Working with CPC was a nightmare, almost from beginning. Mr. Cueva is a smooth talker, but unfortunately misrepresented his ability to complete our home as promised. Most all of his subcontractors were unlicenced and underqualified. He used the draw $ from our project to complete other unhappy client's work, then would not have the money to do our work. There would be weeks of time when no one would show up to work on our home. Mr. Cueva himself rarely visited the site, and we had to manage the day-to-day oversight of the project. Mr. Cueva was always promising he would make things right, but then would fail to deliver. CPC ran in to major fianancial problems during the course of our project, and many of the subs went unpaid for months (despite the fact we gave CPC the money for those subs). We ultimately had to file a claim against his surety bond to recover the monies owed to us.
Description of Work: CPC was contracted to build a secondary home on our property and to assist with the permit process. They were to provide building plans to our specifications, and to do all construction; from foundation to finish work. The contractor was unable to complete the project and we had to pay other to complete the work.

It hurts me as a person and a business owner to re-visit a site such as this and know that potential customers wil read negative postings and potentially make the decision not to hire us due to the negative information being advertised. Like any business who serves hundreds of customers throughout the years. Unfortunately, there are instances where the clients and the business will not agree under any term and condition. Once there is turmoil involved in the midstream of a project, the opposite party will do and see what it takes to destroy the reputation of their ex-contractor. The customer is protected by the contractors license board, our liability insurance, bond and civil lawsuits. In addition, they are able to slander your name publicly as this family has done. Not all cases are one sided as this client has made it sound. Adverse information like this affects licensed contractors for years, it makes it very difficult for us to conduct business and to convince future clients to trust doing business with. Unfortunately, in order for a business like us to dilute negative reports such as the two that are posted herein. We need to advertise thousands of dollars with them as well as have our current Happy Clients post positive recommendations [Member Information Removed] that the negative postings are lowered to the bottom of the list. We hope that our explanation is acceptable, but most importantly that you believe what we wrote and that you can understand our side. We are a fully insured and licensed Construction Company. We have a vast list of satisfied clients that would love to refer us. There is also a large list of past customers that call us for up-to-date projects. We hope that you will give us an opportunity to help complete your project. Sincerely, Frank Cueva Central Pacific Construction (805) 471-4749
