The Heat Source

I will start out saying, before now...this was our go to store for anything fireplace related. The last 25yrs or so we have bought atleast 5 stoves from them cause we have rentals that we installed pellet stoves in..These were our go to guys. We didnt even shop around..This store was our fireplace store even though they are 70 miles from us..didnt matter.. they were our go to store. They were always very prompt, reasonable and polite...However that was when the older gentleman (maybe dad??) ran the place and did the service. Now.. the young man that came to our house this last Friday, basically treated us like we were a royal pain in his a***. He changed the original appt to a different day. When he did get there he was an hour late. He diagnosed our stove... and "fixed" it..but realized the blower motor was out and he didnt have one on his truck. We bought this stove from them.. how does he not have parts to fix it on his truck? He drove 70 miles for this service call he should have the parts to build a new stove on his big F450. He told my husband he would try to get back on Monday to finish the job and gave us a $450 bill, (for 1 hour work) for service and travel. So Monday...when he didnt show... I called and the lady had him call me back and his attitude was horrible. Told my hubbs he didnt say he was coming back...so why would you leave a job open for over a week and not plan to come back and finish it? so that meant another travel fee..that big F450, that doesnt have all the parts they need, takes a lot of Diesel money! He sat on the phone for over 10 minutes arguing with us and telling us he was too busy to come back and finish the job til the next week. He also told us it was our fault cause we didnt call him sooner.. maybe so.. but his attitude saying it and his tone was very disrespectful. I will be going into Bakersfield today looking for a different repair man and from now on will be staying in town to shop for our new pellet stoves!

I had shopped around and I really liked the Harman and the price was right. The installation date worked right into my schedule. Heat Source sent me two very qualified installers, who answered questions and explained the process of removing old wood burner and my new install. Both these men were professional and very friendly, job site and pick up was very clean. Before leaving we did a walk through on the Easy Touch System. I made an error and forgot to include the Logs. I called Ray, ordered and paid for logs, which were installed with no additional charge. I can honestly say that my entire experience with Heat Source was excellent.

It is the best purchase I made in 2014, number one for the year. They installed it perfectly and it works great. My only criticism is they did not measure the amount of hearth extension needed to install it so had to reschedule, ie Feb date and have a mortar man extend the hearth. He did not extend it enough so I did the rest myself. Also they did not tell me to get it inspected but I did anyway, dragged the CA inspectors out and it passed with no problems. It is really easy to use, I work odd hours so when I get home if I do not want to heat the entire 4,200 sq ft house lol I just push the on button, when I want it off I push the off button. It tells you how to clean it. The first time I did it it took me a whopping 10 minutes. I was really tired?

The Heat Source is a real professional, local, and family owned company. They were early, explained everything to me about what they were going to do, and then showed me where my problems were. They fixed the problems and did all the maintenance. They have probably stopped me from some costly repairs with their maintenance program. Their employees are well trained, friendly, and know their job.

Terrible ---- from start to finish. A nightmare.

Technician showed me how to the jam myself if it were to jam again and how to prevent the auger from jamming by cleaning out the feed shoot after every 4-5 bags of pellets have been burned.

Installed fireplace in 2006. In 2007 fireplace not functioning property - excessive smoke and unit was 100% un-useable. Dealer installed extraction motor. 2008 extraction motor did not function and new electrical switch was installed. 2010 motor and flew cap blown off roof. Analysis reveled that motor and cap were not installed properly, and motor adaptor was left out. Cap was oversized resulting in wind blowing it off chimney. This caused electrical circuit short, blowing out the motor and control. Owner, Kenneth Harrison, came to review and accepted NO responsibility. In fact, Mr. Harrison was rude and confrontational. His family (wife and daughter) who generally run the office, told us to "Go away," and claimed we were rude. Actually, we were simply, and politely, trying to obtain some help and service.
