Twenty years ago, under new construction of our home, we had a steel septic tank installed. I had read that your lucky if a steel tank would last 20 years. Ours should have been replaced 4 years ago. The top of the tank had so many small holes in it, it looked like rotten Swiss cheese. This tank was so decrepit, even the baffles had fallen off. So, in order to save our leach field from being corrupted, for 4 years, as we saved for a new tank, we hauled our "used" toilet paper to the landfill. 4 years later: In one day: Blazers came in and emptied our completely deteriorated steel septic tank. Then removed that old tank and later hauled it away. With a backhoe they expertly chipped away at the rock bed to make a level place to set the new concrete tank. The backhoe operator (the father), used his backhoe like a surgeon uses a scalpel; he cut the rock out smooth and level and clean. The delivery truck with the new tank was there and waiting, as Blazers had preplanned. After the new tank was in place, they plumbed it to the sewer line and leach line. Then, after the Kern Count inspector sighed off on the job ticket, Blazers back filled and covered our new tank. And we are so happy. The owners of Blazers Septic Construction, a father and son team, were the most honest contractors I have ever had on my property. They also were very polite and friendly and informative. Seeing how difficult it was to cut out that hard rock, I had expected them to add on costs to their original bid. But they did not! If you ever need septic work done, call Blazers. You'll be glad you did.
