Laurie met me at the office on her day off to accommodate my schedule. Beau and Laurie provided very personal and professional service. They made me feel and know my satisfaction was their top priority. Beau kept me informed every step of the way. He made two major recommendations on the way the flooring should be placed and the molding. Glad I went with his recommendation. His staff worked none stop to get the job done. Excellent service. Highly recommended.

Extremely well. Crew chief was very knowledgeable and and two-man crew worked for 5 days straight, accommodating all the idiosyncracies of our floor. The owner (who had come out to the house several times) had said that the job would take no more than 6 days. In order to keep to this, he had a crew of 4 on Saturday, and they worked until 6:15 p.m. (starting at 8) to finish. They worked very hard and cleaned when they were done. Laurie in the office was great, and Beau, the owner, was very accommodating.

It was great. From the start, Beau was very responsive and accessible. He is not pushy at all, but knows what he's doing. Also, his price is not the cheapest, but it is very fair for the quality. After all, it's a long-term investment in your home. Then with the scheduling of the job, Beau did a great job meeting my needs and getting the job started promptly. His crew was great - they were very professional and easy to work with. The floors came out great, including the baseboards, and I'm very happy with the work that Royal Oak did. I would definitely keep them in mind for future work.

My experience with Royal Oak Hardwood Floor Co. was excellent. Beau Pillar, the owner, came to our residence and gave me a concise summary of the work that needed to be done, the price and the timeframe and sequence of the work to be done. His work crew of foreman Eddie and his assistants Chris and Abel were great. The delivery of the hardwood flooring, moldings, cork and glue along with all their equipment and tools was well synchronized. It was very evident that they knew exactly what needed to be done and how to do it. They all spoke English and were hard workers and professionally performed all their work with care including moving our furniture around and cleaning up after each day's work. All the little details that make the difference in the result were done well. I am extremely pleased with the new hardwood flooring.

Royal Oak started and finished the project within the agreed upon timeline and the newly installed floors are absolutely beautiful. The supervisor/lead on our crew, Eddie, was a highly skilled craftsman and he was able to customize the wood to fit a curved floor we have for a step-down living room area which turned out just fabulous. Everyone who worked at the house was courteous and professional and if we had questions the owner Beau or his right hand Laurie were always easy to reach or would call back quickly when we left a message. We highly recommend Royal Oak to anyone planning to do a hardwood floor project.

Overall a great experience. Laurie helped us find the right product in the store through 4 or 5 iterations of taking home samples to figure out what species and color we wanted. Beau came out to measure and figure out layout/etc. They were very patient as we worked through delays due to other work going on on our end, and once given the green light they came quickly and did great work. James led the installation crew and all the guys did a great job and were a pleasure to have working in our home. We have existing carpet in a few rooms that we didn't want wood in, and after they completed installing the wood they hired a carpet guy to stretch/cut/refinish the carpet at the transition points so it looks great. We had gotten estimates from a few other vendors and selected Royal Oak because they seemed the most on the ball through the estimate/selection process, they promised satisfaction, and their price wasn't the lowest but was competitive. We couldn't be more satisfied and happy with our new wood floors. They have really upgraded the look and feel of our home vs. the typical wall-to-wall carpeting it replaced.

The work was done extremely well. The floors are gorgeous and came out perfect. Beau, James and their team were always on time, did the work carefully and were a joy to work with. At the end of the work, they totally cleaned up and returned all of our furniture to the same place it had been when they arrived. We were very, very pleased.

This is actually my second review on Royal Oak because they did something for me after the job was finished that most companies simply do not do. Last week my handyman accidentally scratched a small section of my new floors that Royal Oak has installed about two months ago. I immediately called the owner (Beau) to ask him to come out and replace the panels that had been damaged, and of course I was quite willing to pay for the repair. But Beau wouldn't take any money, he told me he would take care of it for free! Folks, you rarely, if ever, find this kind of customer service from a company, especially when something is not their fault. So not only did Royal Oak do an incredible, impeccable job of installing my hardwood floors in the first place, but they went the extra mile and took care of something that they had every right to charge me for. From their owner (Beau) to their incredible and friendly crew, Royal Oak is simply the best. Five stars!

The first time I met Shawn I was impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. I had 2 other estimates but he was clearly the right choice. He moved all the furniture and replaced it when he was done, including adding protective pads on the legs of everything. Watching him work was fascinating. He is a precisionist and goes to great care to make everything perfect. If I had a question, he explained everything and was patient as I made my decisions about stain, etc. He had to repair a few places where the old wood was stained and you can't tell the difference between old and new. Our floors look beautiful and I couldn't be more pleased. He followed the schedule we agreed upon and kept me up to date via phone or text. I felt like I found a real craftsman who takes pride in his work. I'd recommend him to anyone.

Royal Oak's crew are incredible! Every day they were on time, meticulous with every detail and very easy to deal with. The owner (Beau) came by every day to make sure there weren't any problems and the job was up to my satisfaction. To give you an idea of how professional and accommodating Beau's crew is, after the stairs has been partially installed my wife decided she wanted a portion of them to be painted white. This entailed two extra days's of work for the crew to remove the stairs that had already been installed. Beau did this for a very reasonable additional fee, and the stairs look stunning. In fact, the whole house looks stunning! Royal Oak, in my opinion, is a five star company, and I highly recommend them. You're going to love the work, and you're going to love Beau!

I needed hardwood floors in two rooms that previously had seagrass carpeting. Beau guided me into selecting the right sample and the ideal method of installation, making every attempt to minimize the inconvenience to me. His team was punctual and professional and did a beautiful job. I love my new floors! The next week, he sanded and refinished the existing hardwood floors in the entryway to my home. Again, his team of workers was amazing. They took such good care of my belongings, wrapping EVERYTHING in plastic. I told the workers they could put my furniture on the deck. Beau, the consummate professional, saw that it might rain and called me to let me know he had advised his workers to keep the furniture indoors and protected. Sure enough, it rained that night. That sort of personal touch is rare in a business and it contributed to my overall feeling of trust and confidence in both the company and the people behind it.

Beau and his team were very responsive and professional. The flooring was delivered early at my request so that a stair contractor could match his tread color to our new floors. The primed baseboards were delivered at the same time so I could paint them prior to installation. Simple favors that mean a lot! Eddie and Christian were skilled and hardworking. They found an uneven spot in the living room that needed a concrete later skimmed on top to even it out. This was deemed to be included in the price (thankjs!). An extra wall of baseboard installation was done so that the entryway hall would look uniform (thanks!). And, Eddie/Christian installed furniture leg protector pads prior to bringing the furniture back into the house (again thanks!). Royal Oak worked hard to ensure that I would be 100% happy when the work was done. Job well done - thanks!!

He was very nice and seemed knowledgable. We originally contacted him expressing an interest in site finished hardwood floors but he really tried to talk us into engineered floors. He measured our house and gave us his opinions and recommendations. We are very happy we didn't use him because it turned out half of our house already had hardwood floor underneath that somehow we missed. We are by no means experts and it really concerned me that with 30 plus years of experience that he would not have discovered the existence of the original floors under the carpet. It would have been an incredible disappointment to proceed with engineered wood and come to find out we have actual original hardwood floors!

My experience with Shawn in San Jose was fantastic. He was very knowledgable, and made it a point to discuss the nuances of the job others didn't foresee. He provided excellent communication, including updates via text. We had a rather difficult job in that our white oak floors were saturated with cat urine from years ago. The amount of damage was was unknown until the carpet was pulled up. It was more than expected, but Shawn was able to salvage the floor, saving me thousands on repairs. He replaced a few boards, put a walnut stain on the floor and it looked flawless. Our floors are over 90 years and they look like they were just installed. Shawn installed our baseboards and provided us with custom transitions around our fireplace. Shawn provides excellent customer service and is clearly a hard worker. His service also moves out your furniture prior to the work, and moves you back in after the job has finished; not many offer that service. The work he did was beyond what we expected. He was competitive in his pricing and worked according to the deadline set. He also left us with extra refinishing agents and hole filler to maintain our floors. In the end overall look of our home was transformed and the floor look pristine. We would recommend Shawn without hesitation and will undoubtedly use him to add to our home in the future.

Worst experience with a contractor to date. And it continues to be bad news. Sadly, we hired this company after not only previously giving them A ratings, but also then giving them a big job on our former home in Woodland Hills, to friends buying it. Not only did our friends have to threaten Beau, and ask us not to post this till they got their money back after he badly botched that job, Beau also created one of the worst experiences we have ever been through in our new home. Beau's son James, as Supervisor, and his crew began work here in late 2014. I knew, early on, when his son weirdly screamed at me for not being able to use my microwave, in front of all his workers, we could only go downhill. Sure enough, we did! Beau's son had to be permanently banned from our home, after Beau apologized profusely. His replacement, Jesus, was worse. Each day was more unprofessional and dangerous than the prior day. Three, or more, competing sets of stereos blasting music with singing and screaming constantly from the men, use of our private bathrooms - despite being told which bathroom the (up to 8-10) men should use daily, cooking in my home - all done each day, without permission. Despite being told explicitly not do so, again, and again, and again. Regardless, we were determined to get through the worst of it, as Beau repeatedly apologized, and swore it would not happen again. And then it would happen again. We just could not believe it was this bad, as they had done such great work for us before. Finally, we had to simply get them out. It was no longer a question of if we could stand it any longer. Jesus, as Supervisor, actively fought with me, and actively interfered with other contractors ability to work in our home, all while manipulating Beau. To say it was bad, would be like calling W.W.2 just a 'small battle'. With a kitchen and dining room left undone, we cut our losses and were forced to finish with another company. Our friends have now gotten all their money refunded, and so gave us the go ahead finally to post this review now. However, our costs are still being felt: Today I got the first shock at how badly ripped off we were when I had to purchase more flooring locally. Beau charged us $12 dollars per square foot for this job, and we stupidly trusted him. It is selling for $3 dollars per square foot in places online. We are now getting that same exact material for $6 dollars locally. To further add insult, now we discover our floors are poorly glued in many places, sound weirdly hollow and creak, but there is no recourse, as we could never ever allow Beau's crew to enter our home again to make the needed repairs. Please know, even with all of Beau's friendly demeanor, the end product was he profited by deeply price gouging us, and caused us problems we are still sorting out. Maybe the worst part is he damaged a relationship with long time friends who trusted us, and him. The money hurt also, but finding out how badly he lied to us and them? Unforgiveable. UPDATE: You falsely state we were merely disappointed, and that somehow we signed off on your work. Nothing is further from the truth. We had no options, and your company offered no apology, or help, until this comment here - nearly a year later. Your work was shoddy, your workers beyond unprofessional, and your business practice has been completely unethical at almost every step. If you were truly sorry, you could have offered a partial refund, or even an apology earlier, as you absolutely were aware of our constant complaints all along the process. Our friends were given all their money back after threatening you with lawsuits, where you ruined their floors as well. Apparently that's the only way anymore with your company to get you to acknowledge your wrong doing, and you should be ashamed of that alone. However, minimizing your work as merely 'disappointing' is more salt in a gaping wound; that you created. Apology not accepted.

They came when they promised they would come, removed carpet and appropriately took care of the edges of the carpet in the living room and 3 other bedrooms. Stained the wood with the stain we chose and varnished the wood. I gave them a B for quality because the dressing area was not varnished nearly as well as the hallway and the contract said that they would remove the baseboards and reinstall after completion of work, but we have one baseboard that obviously has varnish half way up, so it had to be there before the work was completed. I will hire them again, when we are ready to do the living room and other bedrooms because in general they did a good job.

Its a family business, and the reviews I read were for his father, and they were wonderful, but I delt with his son. He was very professional and responsive, but the work wasn't the best. There were short cuts taken and that lead to patch work fixes that I wasn't very happy about.

Shawn's customer service, knowledge, and professionalism are first class. He understood exactly what we wanted and carefully walked us through the process. The floors throughout the house looked absolutely beautiful when he finished. He goes above and beyond to ensure that you are happy with the results. Pricing was extremely fair. I just purchased a condo and am hiring Shawn to put new floors in throughout. His resources for types of wood floors are excellent and he's provided a list of showrooms where I can see and choose the perfect flooring for my home. Working with Shawn is a pleasure. He takes great pride in his work and is a true craftsman.

We had been shopping for hard wood flooring for months. We decided to go with Royal Oak. Beau, the owner, came to our house to provide us an estimate the same day my wife went in to his store. He indicated that his crew could begin the job the following Monday, and would continue working each business day until it was done. They did exactly what they said they were going to do. Each day, unlike some contractors, they would clean up and haul out any of the "garbage" from that day's work. It was a big job, and they minimized the inconvenience to us. They would work "room by room," also to minimize the intrusion. They moved all the furniture, and put it back when each room was finished. Besides doing excellent and professional work in a timely fashion, they were easy to communicate with and when choices needed to be made Beau was quick to call me to discuss options. The job was done excellent, and I would highly recommend this company.

Awesome to say the least. Beau met w/ me and gave me a verbal estimate on the spot. He knows his trade well. He worked with us on figuring out phase 1 and phase 2 : we lived in the house during both phases / moved furniture into garage. Didn't need pod storage. The moving of furniture was included in price. The guys did such a beautiful job with the floors. Hardworking and pride of craft. Raphael stained samples for me and made sure we were happy with everything. We had to re-do a few areas because the poly coat was a little glossy for some reason - but they fixed it all. We went with Golden Pecan and satin. Everyone was nice, clean and respectful. We are really happy with our floors.

Their showroom made it easy to see a wide variety of samples. They let us take home a number of large samples over the weekend so we could get a good look. It really helped us decide what would look best. They were very helpful and courteous during the estimate process. After we decided to use them they were professional and easy to deal with. They explained the process to us. They cleaned up after themselves each day and they were very polite.

Beau and Eddie were very professional and easy to work with. Company and representatives were very responsive and got the job done quickly. Everything looks really good and matches the existing floors.

Great! I don't know about the other Royal Oak teams, but this team of Raphael, Ramon and Tony were terrific. Tried to be careful moving my things. Went out of their way, to help with things they didn't have to. Really, the best thing is just get out of their way- they know what to do. Very hard working guys. Since this Bona Natural is a newer product on market, a question came up right in the beginning about whether to use a sealer first or all coats of the Bona natural. When I saw a small test patch of the sealer, I thought it altered the wood color slightly in a direction I didn't want. I really wanted my floors without stain, or yellowish - looking just like untreated wood with all the character of the woods I have. Owner Beau immediately picked up the phone to the regional distributor's product consultant and discussed my objective in depth. Beau called me back in half hour. Answer was to do all Bona Coats, no sealer. So, I consider this not only very responsive but very reonsible. The floors are beautiful. I've had several painters in to give painting bids, and every one of them commented on the quality of the floor work. One said,"it's hard to get good floor people". Not really- just call this company. Very pleased.

We had a very specialized finish in mind, and he worked closely with us to get a custom manufacturing of the product that looked even better than the sample we were trying to match. There were many iterations to get this exactly right, and he was patient and professional throughout. The installation went smoothly, and we were pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the integral HVAC vents that Shawn installed, which had not been spec'ed in detail. His price was right, and the result looks stunning.
