I have been procrastinating about writing this review because this company left a bad taste in my mouth about contractors. It might be because this was not a big money maker for them. A Regal representative came over soon after I purchased the deal to take a look at my Kitchen. He took some measurements, made recommendations, showed me some Granite samples and also suggested that I go take a look a more Granite samples at a store on Sherman Way and Laurel Canyon. It turns out that there was an extra charge for going with the samples from the store so I picked from one of the samples he had in the trunk of his car. This, I now know, is very low quality-probably even the lowest quality- Granite. The one that changes color every time it gets wet! It is also not polished and it seems to give out some kind of dust no matter how much you clean it. Please stay away from this type of Granite. It took a very long time for Regal to schedule and start the work, almost a whole month went by. I had to call them constantly. The Regal rep told me that they only did these "small" jobs because Angie's forced them to but that they did not take small jobs such as this. That should have been a red flag but I hoped for the best. My kitchen had a tile backsplash but I couldn't afford to backsplash the entire area. Regal's demolisher removed all the tile and cut the pipes under my sink. They also took the garbage disposal. I had to call them and have them bring it back. After that I had to find somebody to fix my wall. Luckily I knew someone that helped me out. Otherwise I would have been charged a lot of money by this company to make the backwall look decent. They were also charging me extra for removing and re-installing the sink. I had to hire a plumber to comeback and install the sink, luckily for halft the price Regal was charging. If you are thinking about hiring this company just know that you will probably need to spend much more than this deal is advertised for before you get a decent looking job done. Unless you are replacing an exact counter and backsplash you will need a lot more money that this deal costs. It appears to me that Regal hires very low cost sub-contractors that are not very good or detail oriented and are not very interested in quality work for "small" jobs such as this.

The project manager was good. I particularly liked that he was patient while I made selection of tile for the project. The installer did a good job and the floor looks great!! I would definitely contact them again for future work.

People were very nice and professional, the offer just didn't include the type/color granite I wanted. There was nothing in the granite options that I liked or that would work in my kitchen. All communication was excellent.

It turns out that all the counters that we wanted to do would end up being another approximatley $1800 which is just a figure that we didn't feel comfortable with since we are selling the home. The provider was very understanding and helpful, he advised to contact Angie's List in order to get a refund of the Big Deal purchase which I have done.

Everything went well. We just don't need the service now.

Very good. They were easy to set up the appointment with. The person came on time. He gave us some great ideas. The software that he used to do his design work felt very outdated and didn't a good job presenting his design. Unfortunately, we didn't use them for the remodel because we couldn't afford them. Worked really hard for me regarding their bid for the final product.

They take forever to respond and showed up at the wrong job site. Also, I didn't enjoy being insulted with my idea to have my cooktop in my island, his exact words were "What is this Benihana"? pretty rude.

They were very professional. I need more work done than anticipated (prefer whole kitchen remodel as opposed to just flooring), so it is best to save up and wait to do all the work together. Plan on using them at that time.

My wife and I had been putting off, saving up for, and toiling over redoing our complete kitchen. While it was functional, it was very dated and seriously falling apart. When we were ready to start, we didn?t know how to. This was a foreign world to us, and we started by going to a family friend. Bad idea. Fortunately we only wasted time, not money though certainly ended with some sore feelings. After all, changes of this magnitude are a real test of your patience and character. Our next step was to try Angie?s list and try our luck using their ratings system. This way the chances were higher that we?d know who we?re getting ahead of time and that a lot of their and their customer experience was documented. So, we signed up and picked the ?top? 3 kitchen contractors based on A ratings, most reviews, openness to IKEA, and the substance of the reviews looking for the best fit. We scheduled and met with all of them, though we bought a 3d design ($80?) and started with Regal. Our initial feelings were, not surprisingly, mixed but more because quotes were coming in a lot higher than we were expecting. So we decided to secure a loan before selecting the contractor. This also really empowered us to avoid rash decisions and take our time. Sean with Regal was by far our favorite. I think all 3 were capable of getting the job done, but personality and style match are really important and Sean is such a nice guy. Thoughtful and helpful, low pressure overall. At first, we were still leaning for another contractor primarily, simply put, because Regal was not the cheapest. The thing is, while we waited for our loan, we took the time to learn the IKEA kitchen planner, expanding upon in the IKEA Planner a lovely design that Sean provided after our interview, and really exploring our space with IKEA cabinets. We were torn. The contractor willing to do IKEA had a dramatically lower price and with more cabinets, but we did not feel comfortable with him. Brash attitude and flaky. Regal was who we wanted. So I informed Sean that we prefer IKEA for cost and hope he has some interest in quoting our online design. I am very happy to say that Regal agreed to provide a quote. It was still measurably more than the other guy but allow me to say that he was very worth it. Regal did an absolutely amazing job for us. Not only by measure of quality and craftsmanship, but in customer service and expectation management. We just love our new kitchen. Of course there were bumps in the road, but they were dealt with fairly. For all items with allowances, don?t wait to the last minute to finalize your plan. We did and had to make a first and final lighting decision?the morning the light crew showed up to install. Not my best thinking cap for me that 7:30 am and not great deciding w/o your spouse, let alone a quote or even Sean. Oh, and not great paying $3k plus in lights over the allowance. Ouch. We have an obscene amount of lights and control now. Do I like it? Yes. But I would not have chosen this had I been awake or solidified it in advance. I felt taken advantage of in this instant but don?t think it was intentional. Also to support Sean?s IKEA trepidation, Sean struggled immensely with IKEA. I believe he was on the phone with them for 6 or more hours throughout the project. IKEA order was messed up in many ways but Sean saw it through w/o burdening us. And while the finished product is amazing, Sean deserves hazard pay for dealing with them. (Don?t tell him I said this). In the end, it was a job well done, on time and with minimal disruption. The craftsmanship in the floor install alone was extraordinary. The professionalism, quality, speed, responsiveness of everything else was vindication for all their reviews I?d read. At the time, I wondered what kind of review I?d be writing for them? It simply went great! We have an awesome kitchen now! The process was less painful than I could have imagined, hearing horror stories of friends and family members who had done remodels with other contractors. The team at Regal was just great and I was highly impressed by the workmanship. I am told over and over that we have the picture perfect kitchen that belongs in home design magazines. They started the project on time AND ended on the promised dates! They have been quick to reply to any messages or follow-up and we would DEFINITELY use them again and recommend them to anyone.

Service was not done. During the estimate, it turned out that the shower floor will be extra costs. When I asked how much it would cost, he said that they wouldn't even do it due to liability issues. Considering that are house is very old - 50 yo and if they replace the floor base in the shower area and it leaks after, they will be liable. He suggested that I remodel the whole bathroom which we can't afford at this time.

I have heard that remodeling constructors from ANGIE's LIST mostly have had good reputation. So, I joined ANGIE LIST, purchased an 3-D designed and estimate for my bathroom remodeling. David Elezra, the project manager of Regal Construction Remodeling, met us at our house at 6:00PM Wednesday 11/5/2014 on time. David appeared to be friendly, professionally, and knowledgeable for the job. We signed the contract with him without a second thought despire the price was pretty high for a small job. We thought that with most A reviews for Regal, they will do a good job for us. We got his 3-D drawing first draft on Sunday 11/9/2014 with two suggestions totally different from the style we wanted,disscussed, and agreed on the contract. We disapproved David's two suggestions and specifically ask for the style on the contract. He re-drawed and we agreed. For ANGIE's LIST member: Do not expect too much for the 3-D design as seen on HGTV or DIY TV network. It is very simple. And it is not worth for your $29.00. I don't know who will get this money (ANGIELIST or the Constructor), but we can normally get a free estimate from a lot of contruction companies out there. The contract stated the remodeling will start on 11/11/2014. At 7:00PM 11/10/2014, David called us and confirmed that they will come tomorrow from 8:00AM - 9:00AM. AT 9:00PM 11/10/2104, David called back and said one of his truck was not repaired, he proposed to move the start date to 11/12/2014. We did not buy that reason but what can we do. We were disappointed, so he just throw a statement that the demolition will not take more than 4 hours, so maybe at noon his crew will come and start the job.The conversation ended. The promise was hanging!!!! Tuesday 11/11/2014, we waited to 10:00AM to call David. He asnwered and said that he was with a customer and will get back to us in 1 or 1 1/2 hours. We waited for 2 and 1/2 hours, no call from him so We called him, no answer. We called his office, Cindy, the office manager took our blamed patiently and promised us that David will contact us ASAP. And David called us right away. He came to our house to clear what he called "the miscommunication". Too deep to withdraw, we put every bad thing happened out of our way and prepare for the job to start on Wednesday 11/12/2014. Wednesday 11/12/2014, I had to take of a few work hours to meet David and his crew. He was late again and blamed it to traffic. He took his two workers into my bathroom and explain what they have to do. I was a bit suprised. I thought REGAL workers should know what they should do before coming to the job site. It seemed like you go to Home Depot and hire people sitting in front of Home Depot. I left to work. 15 minutes later, David called me and said that there was a problem. His workers said that they have to remove our vanity before they can do the demolition, and it is reasonable request, but David, the project manager, should know that the job cannot be done without moving the vanity at the time he came to do the estimate, or if he was not sure, he should take a worker with him to do the correct estimate. Unfortunately, the vanity can be damaged if they remove. David suggested that we should replace our existing vanity so he can build a large shower for us. This was it. I decided to cancel the contract. David has wasted his company's time/resources and our time. Cindy of Regal has promised me that she will refund our deposit of $625.00, she said she will mail to us today. Hopefully, we can get back our money soon.

Turned out great. They cleaned everything up afterwards and asked for my approval before they left. Very courteous and professional.

So, even with the Angie's List deal, the estimate far exceeded our allotted budget which is why we have decided to opt for a refund.

We chose Regal Construction based on talking with David, one of the owners. He was very professional and concerned with the possible water damage/mold caused by the burst pipe in the kitchen. He helped us get a mold test done the next day. It was this concern that really helped to set him/Regal apart from the other bids we received. The project was slated to begin right away. We had to have a water remediation company come out to do the demo around the sink and dry out the area and treat the mold. This process took a little longer than expected. Part of the complication was the fact that we had to open an insurance claim for the water damage. If I had known about the insurance process earlier, I would have gotten the water damage treated with their recommended remediation company. Although I had an agreement with regal construction to treat the water damage area, the remediation company ended up billing my insurance/me directly. This was a mix of miscommunication and insurance claim processing issues. In the end David discounted our services a bit to help address the issue. Still, I recommend clearly outlining if a subcontractor is being completely paid by your contractor or if you are on the hook. Insurance claims complicate things and I recommend clearly outlining all of the subcontractor bills ahead of time regardless of the insurance process. Once the real construction got underway, it went relatively quickly. We were originally going to do just new pre-fab cabinets, granite countertops, and a new pantry. Our agreement included these these. We ended up adding quite a bit as we went. We added a full copper repipe (to help prevent future leaks) after receiving some funds from our insurance. I assumed insulation was included (as it is code) but it was not, so we ended up having to pay a bit more to insulate the kitchen walls. Also we ended up having to replace/move the electrical panel and rewire the whole kitchen. This was an unexpected $7700 addition. I would have appreciated David flagging this when we made the agreement. Although he mentioned the panel was old he did not indicate that we would be required to upgrade it to meet code and get our permits approved. This was either intentional to keep the bid low or a lack of understanding of the permit requirements. Either way, this cost should have been flagged ahead of time and it really put a strain on our budget. Overall the quality of the job was good, but not spectacular. We had to really check up on what the subcontractors had done and flag many issues with the paint and cabinets. I would say this was unacceptable, but talking with other people about their remodel experiences, I think it is just par for the course. In the end, David did end up having all of our issues addressed, which was good, it just was more work on my part than I would have liked. At the end of the day, our kitchen ended up coming out really nicely and it was done at what I would consider a reasonable price. I would consider using Regal Construction again for future jobs.

Professionalism was great. I tried to purchase the $399. Deal of The Day at 9:30 at night and for some reason it said the deal was over. I contacted both Regal and Angie's list the next day. Regal said not only would they honor it, they would have Élan, their Project Manager come by and make sure my project fit the scope of the offer (I had ceiling cracks and holes where track lighting and heater thermostat were removed). Élan came by, said it would all be included. My emails with Cathy, the office manager were punctual, helpful and friendly. We set up a date for the work. Jesus and Martin, father and son, arrived on the scheduled date. Élan was there to explain the specifics. Jesus and Martin took great care to cover up furniture and floor, worked clean, and did a great job. I appreciated their respectfulness of my space. They even helped put the furniture back. From start to finish, dealing with everyone at Regal was a joy. My living room looks beautiful. I was concerned at first because they are based in Canoga Park and I live in Ventura but that wasn't an issue. I would definitely use them for future projects.

The work performed was hi quality.. Painters and construction people arrived on time and did very high-quality work. I was not fully aware that a discounted price on this work was dependent on this company also doing my second bathroom. The price quoted for my second bathroom was $17,000. Which I still feel is too high of a quote. When it came time to settle the price of this bathroom the price went up because I was no longer able to afford the second bathroom. I was originally led to believe that I would get a discount if I bought things at Lowe's I never received a discount.. The price does not include things such as the vanity in the bathroom the toilet in the bathroom and other furnishings. I originally started with this company because it said that they would do a three dimensional rendering of the work to be performed. I only received an online email rendering of my second bathroom after everything was finished weeks later The drawing that I received in an email I feel was extremely basic and not worth even for $39. I feel this is due to the fact that they realized they would not be doing the work. I am 65 years old, retired, and stated that they had a senior discount, which I asked for. Originally I feel I was given a discount as I was told the powder room should have passed one or $2000 more. But upon settlement as I mentioned earlier the I just went up .i was given a per square foot allowance for tile. I found a discontinued tile that I thought would give me quite a credit. Upon settlement the credit was very small like $25 which I had calculated it would be much more.

Set up a meeting with Cynthia in the office. She is excellent, helpful and professional. Representative arrived on time and spent a lot of time with me. Told me exactly what needs to be done. It was a bigger job than I expected so I have put it on hold temporarily but I will definitely go back to this company when I am ready.

We are having scheduling conflicts. They tried very hard to arrange it with me well. It just didn't work out.

The project: paint the front of the house (stucco, wood siding, trim and porch ceiling). The paint, brushes, rollers, drop cloth, painters tape acquired to do it myself but then saw this Big Deal - 2 painters for a day for $399. I purchased this deal once before from a different Angie's List provider. Two experienced painters should easily do the job or most of it. Regal sent a project manager who advised that there was too much work & an additional cost of $1,500 would be required. I asked for a quote of what could be done for the $399. I did not get a response. The project manager recommended I get other quotes to see how reasonable the cost would be - $800 (normal cost that I am getting for $399) + $1500 = $2,300 that Regal will do for $1,899. Angie's List has two other Big Deals - a Painter for a Week for $1,399 & lifetime guarantee paint the entire house for $2,499. I therefore decline Regal's estimate. The other two offers are more than I need; it's back to the original DIY plan.

I called them a couple times, but their location is just too far away.

Prompt and professional service. Our design consultant arrived at the appointment time, took his time with us as we walked thru our ideas and desires for our remodel. He offered great ideas and was realistic concerning what was feasible and cost effective. Very satisfied.

I am in awe of the final results of my master bathroom remodel. It is beautiful and I am so pleased and glad I chose Regal Construction. Sean was absolutely great in keeping me informed and responding to my messages. His office manager ''Cindy' was always responsive and very helpful. Sean had a vision for my bathroom remodel that I could not imagine and I put my trust in him because he made me feel his company would stand by their word....and they did!... I was impressed with the total crew. They showed up every expected day, worked all day, and cleaned up when they left. Many days I was out of town and they made sure my home was secured when they left.. Regal Construction demolished my bathroom and did a complete remodel. After demolition, it was discovered an old roman tub was below the foundation and had to be removed. This also required rebuilding the foundation which was a huge additional cost! They built a beautiful shower, insulated the walls, electrical, copper plumbing, painted, new toilet, a custom vanity and installed a jacuzzi tub with a window looking out at a view of the city! The workmanship of the tile is fantastic and also the custom vanity. My experience with Regal Construction was extremely positive from the first encounter with Sean until the end. I felt like we became friends because he was consistently involved in my project... From helping with tile selection, fixtures, changes, suggestions, etc. The extended time period to finish the project was due to the foundation repair and my requests of no work days (which they were very accommodating). I can not say enough about Regal Construction.....they were fantastic! Thank you Regal for my new bathroom !

Sean sent me a 3D design of the kitchen I wanted within a week. We met a few days after, made some changes and signed the contract. Although the price is a bit higher than what I thought it will cost... I have a feeling it worth it. The work is scheduled to start next Monday, and I will post again ones we are done:-)
