NOVATEC CONSTRUCTION

My experience with them was the pits. It did not go well at all. It took almost 3x as long as they said it would take. They did not answer calls or show up. They had to redo the shower floor three times because it leaked. They sent people that did not speak English. Installing the exhaust fan they didn't connect it with the outside. Wiring for the right switch was damaged and was a fire hazard. We had to get our neighbors to fix it. They installed the faucets to the shower with the hot and cold reversed. In putting in the tile the graphed colors were different colors and they couldn't fix it. They came in and didn't have proper tools so they borrowed my tools and broke some of my tools. They broke a hammer, a flashlight and a ladder. Part of fixing the shower they were hot mopping the shower and they left a long strip of tar on our doormat and we had to remove part of the doormat. We couldn't reach them so we left messages and they never called back. There were many different people coming in and no one knew what the other people were doing. When there was a leak in the shower they took out the drywall ceiling in the garage. They knocked out a whole section, but it wasn't a leak from the old pipes it was a leak from the new installation. They wanted to charge us $3500 to fix the pipes that were not leaking. When things started going amiss we started keeping a log and taking pictures on various stages so we are going to send out complaints to the state license board. In replacing the exhaust fan and the light they couldn't fix it properly. They dropped it and broke it, in replacing it they tried to replace it with an old one and he said that he was going to bring a new replacement part, but he never did.

It was terrible. I've ripped out all their work and had it re-done. They are such nice people but really out of touch with what "quality work" means. It all started very normally, a nice fellow named Eli came and gave me a few estimates on a few different things - I ended up having them do the first two which were the kitchen floor repairs and the baseboard trim. A one day / two day job ended up taking over 2 months from beginning to end. I can't even explain how off the miters were or how we agreed on the baseboard being painted before the job was "complete" or how about when they used 2 different types of baseboard in the same room!!!! I guess they thought I wouldn't notice ... worst of all was the kitchen flooring - there were 2 gaps I'd had in my kitchen floor ever since I bought the house, the previous owner had left extra flooring that I wanted them to use for the floor repair. When I came back from work - I found they had not fixed the flooring as I requested, but rather added 2 inches of extra toe kick under the cabinets to conceal the gap, naturally, it wasn't their job to stain this wood before installing - in fact, they had destroyed the beautiful toe kick panel and quarter round that was already in place, they ripped the quarter round out and then nailed it (splitting it EVERYWHERE) to the newly installed wood that didn't even match (unstained, raw, different grain) ... I mean it goes on and on, I could continue, but I'm recommending you see the pics. The icing was when they asked for more money because they "lost money on the job"

Overall the project went great; they worked fast and cleaned up after them selves everyday.
