The project coordinator Ilan quoted me a price that beat every single company I called. He was very fair and flexible. He was very good to work with. When the workers arrived they were great and very respectful. They were very eager to do the best job they could! They did an excellent job! The driveway is gorgeous! I could move in on my own driveway! In fact, people have stopped by to compliment it! They did a very good job on my patio. There are a few little leaks and they are going to redo it tomorrow. The foreman came right at the time we arranged, and he will bring a crew tomorrow to fix the roof. There was no problems at all with this repair. They were very nice an very easy to deal with. They are a wonderful company!
Description of Work: They tore down my old patio and put up a whole new one as well as tore up my asphalt driveway and put in a new stamped colored concrete driveway.

It was a great experience. Very professional, always on time. Final price agreed with estimate. I received quotes from several other contractors that were cheaper but I went AGA because they seemed very professional. The extra money was well spent. No problems working with them, they valued my opinion and schedule. Strongly recommend them for any remodeling job. My job was small compared to most home remodeling but they had no problems working with me.
Description of Work: Widening of an existing door opening. Investigate if wall was load bearing, remove drywall and studs. Install new drywall, add texture to drywall, patch ceiling, fill in hole in the floor with concrete.

I loved working with AGA. Bidding process: Ariel was incredibly patient with us as we continually changed our minds on what we wanted them to do. What started with a bid to do just bathrooms and kitchen and specific floors evolved into having them do the entire house. Instead of me wasting time trying to oversee certain aspects of the remodel, I wisely put it in the hands of AGA. We probably went through a half dozen revisions for their bid over the course of a few months, and they never pressured us or showed any signs of being annoyed by our initial indecisiveness and plethora of questions. Tami, their office manager, was always incredibly courteous and good with follow up. Communication across the board was outstanding. The job: I believe the reason their bid was competitive (certainly not the lowest, but not the highest either), was because of how efficiently they managed their subcontractors. As a small business owner, I really appreciate how efficiently Roy (the on-site supervisor and manager of our project) managed the entire job. He just wanted to make us happy, and he did. Though they told us it would take 11 to 12 weeks to finish the job, they essentially finished it up in 9. We made various upgrades along the way, and probably revised the job a dozen times. I felt that all of the additional work that was required and/or requested by us was fairly priced, and done well. And when we weren?t happy with the doors and drawers in our kitchen from one of their subcontractors (quality control issues with manufacturing and staining), Roy and AGA bent over backward to make it right. Though it took a bit of time to reorder, re-stain and reinstall new doors and drawers, Roy and AGA brought in a magnificent custom cabinet crew, and did it without complaint. The end result is a stunningly beautiful kitchen, a beautiful home, and two very satisfied customers. My advice to anyone looking for a contractor for a remodel would be to know exactly what you want to do ahead of time. Our job worked smoothly because AGA was never delayed by our falling behind in our responsibilities. We had our tiles selected, and appliances, vanities, valves and faucets were delivered on time. We picked all of our paint colors and wood trim and door casings on schedule. I would highly recommend AGA and can?t wait to do it all again (which my wife says I?ll be doing alone, because she doesn?t want to leave our beautiful new home)!
Description of Work: We did a complete home update – new kitchen, new bathrooms, new windows, all new floors, removal of cottage cheese ceilings, added recessed lighting in 4 rooms and a hallway, repainted the entire interior, installed new 5 inch baseboards and door casings, and removed walls.

Elan was very professional on site, and Tami in the office was really on top of things. Unfortunately our funding for the project disappeared so we were unable to move forward.

I mailed AGA a set of plans for a 400 square foot addition onto our house, and after a week or so they called with some questions, and then decided the best step was to come out and see the property. I met with Roy, who was a nice guy, but disturbingly lacking in knowledge. By that point I'd met with several contractors, and each previous one took a look at the plans I handed them, and immediately understood where they were on the drawing and what they were looking at. Roy, who had had the plans for at least a week and had presumably read over them, wandered around the house in confusion for several minutes, trying to get his bearings. But okay, maybe he doesn't have a good spatial sense - not a big deal. As we sat down and talked, however, it became clear that Roy was not well versed in building. He seemed uncertain of the permitting process, and couldn't provide specifics on some details of how things would be built. The clincher for me was when we talked about the deck that was to be included as part of the addition. He asked what material we wanted to use and I said composite. At this point in the conversation with every other of the half a dozen builders I had met with, they would say "Oh, like Trex?" Roy, however, said, "What's composite?" I almost fell off my seat. I explained to him what composite decking material is, and he nodded. Now, my father-in-law was a builder, so I have a little knowledge about this stuff, but come on. I certainly don't want to know MORE than my builder! Needless to say, we did not hire them. I did have many positive interactions with AGA's office administrator Tammy, who was great about following up with me on stuff, and there are several excellent reviews of AGA here on Angie's List, so it may be that I just got the B team employee. My advice is to make sure not just that the company you hire is well rated, but also that the general contractor you're going to be working with knows his or her stuff.

AGA did a great job. They worked carefully with us to stay within budget and to meet our needs. They always told us when they saw a way something could be improved but were willing to accommodate our specific desires such as keeping the old cabinetry while making room for a dishwasher, installing 1950's style metal edging and other idiosyncratic features (something other contractors were less open to doing). They were highly reliable and communicated effectively.
Description of Work: Renovation of kitchen: knocked down the top half of a wall, along with attached cabinets, took out the kitchen exterior door and replaced it with a wall, installed formica countertops and metal edging, installed tile flooring. Redid part of deck outside front door, to adjust for kitchen side door no longer being there. Redid driveway drainage and repaved half of driveway to fix water drainage problem Replaced two bedroom windows. Replaced two kitchen windows with one garden window. New toilet flange, redid bathroom flooring (new subflooring and new linoleum), installed new toilet.

i contacted them for kitchen and bath remodel work. I liked that I could email and set up online. They were very nice and quick to respond. He had a problem making the appointment on time but got back the quote that day. However, he didn't seem intersted in doing work where I live, even though on his profile it says that he will- I thought that was misleading. In the end, the quote was higher than I anticipated and decided to try and do it myself. Everyone I spoke to was very nice though.

The owner of AGA Construction (Ariel Azriel) is an honorable man, which is the most important consideration in choosing a contractor. Ariel helped us with the layout of our master bathroom and we love the results. He provided valuable suggestions and considerations prior to construction. His knowledge of re-modeling is impressive. He accommodated us on weekends whenever we requested. AGA?s tile installer (Juan) did an outstanding job of installing a new shower pan and all of the tile. We are happy with his work and we would want him to tile for us in the future as the need arises. AGA?s carpenter (Guillermo) was very meticulous. He is a very hard worker and there were times we thought he might spend the night at our house working on the bathroom. :-) AGA's custom cabinet maker (Eitan) did a fabulous job on a space we weren't sure what to do with. See the pic. AGA?s electrician was superb. His work was clean and he seemed to be highly skilled. We were comfortable leaving AGA?s crew in our home while we were not there. In conclusion, the vast majority of our experience with AGA was positive. We had a few issues, but we understand that any construction project will have problems. The good part of working with AGA is that you can always call on Ariel Azriel. He?s a good man. He?s conscientious and fair. He worked with us to resolve all of the issues we had and made sure that we were happy with the results.

Tamir came out and gave us a quote, which was very reasonable. He was very patient and helpful with all of our questions. The workers started on time and worked very quickly, finishing the job in less time than had been estimated. They cleaned up everything afterward and were very polite and friendly. Roy (the foreman) was professional and courteous. We were very pleased with how everything went and with the end result.

It was done in timely fashion. The final product was good. Demo was done by another company. Initial bid was less tha half. New price was quoted after additional information provided. I would have wanted the rep who came to bid the proyect initially to wait until he had all the info to quote price. (third party vendor provided specs for slab). Also before work started one "supervisor" wanted to add extra money for more dirt to level ground. In my opinion issues like a level ground are basic, and should have been foreseable and included in price. Lucikily the demo was not complete and the issue end up resolved by leaving existing concrete which would have been demolitioned, so no extra charges were incurred.

We apologize that the initial price increased. Many times customers request a ball park price before we have all of the project information; we prefer not to give a price unless we have all the information (our many satisfied customers can vouch for this). We are not the type of company to give a lower price with the intention of increasing it. We prefer to be upfront and honest, even though it sometimes means losing the project, since many companies give competitive pricing in the beginning, but the job ends up costing a lot more. We do apologize for the inconvenience this caused on your project and we thank you for the opportunity to serve you. The job did come out beautiful and we do hope you enjoy your new shed.

My house was overdue for exterior repair. When I called the company, a representative came out the same day for an estimate. The next business day, I received the detailed estimate by email. I had many questitons. When I phoned the office, I spoke with Tami. She was extremely helpful and patient with all the questions. She was also callied me a day in advance when particular members of the crew would be working including the time they would arrive. I spoke with her many times. She is a jewel. I was able to schedule the work to begin about a week after the estimate--could have started sooner, but I needed a bit of time. All of the work was completed in a timely manner. The workers were at my house at the days and times promised. This surprised me because I have dealt with several contractors over the years, and those experiences have not been good. This experience was very different. I have never worked with more accessible, conscientious people. The workers were experts in their particular field. Everything was done to my satisfaction. They even did a few things that were just "there" such as patching a hole in an attic vent. They cleaned everything as they finished. Even though I thought the estimate was a bit high, I would hire them again both for the quality of the work and the peace of mind.
Description of Work: Exterior house repair and painting. Removal and reinstallation of window that had been installed incorrectly by someone else. This included extensive re-stucco work. Removal of old gutter system and downspouts and replacement. Installation of railing for existing porch. Extensive stucco patching. All exterior painting including helpful color consultation and appropriate preparation of surfaces prior to painting. Re-sealing wood patio overhead.

THEY TAKE YOUR CALLS! We cannot say enough about how nice this company is. Even though most of the work is done by sub contrators, if you call the office with a question or concern they call you back. They truly care about the quality of their work. They are sure to tell you when someone is coming and what time they are expected to arrive. They provide samples for your selection and trusted places where you can look for other selections. The work took a little longer than expected but it was because of OUR tile selection. AGA set a date and often the work was completed before the estimated time had elasped. They were willing to work with us because of my allergies and did several nice things to help elimintae the possibilites of any allergic reactions during construction. Everyone in the company has been fantastic. The office staff is friendly and responsive, Roy, our project manager, checked in many times and answered many questions, and Ariel was both responsive and knowledgeable about our project. The work done was outstanding and the windows look beautiful. Of special note is the stucco work. Working with us regarding color and applicaton style, the stucco is beautiful!
Description of Work: We added a new roof (part flat and part tile) with a solar attic fan. We are redoing the outside of our house and AGA Construction did the first half. They removed the old stucco, reframed with metal reinforcements, restuccoed this half of the house, added 7 new windows and a backdoor to this area. New steps with a small landing were also added to the back door. A small outside cement pad was also added near the back door. The sunroom had the drywall and floor removed and new drywall added.

The contractor experience was excellant. The numerous problems that arose were almost all due to those parts of the job that the owner retained for various reasons (custom cabinet work and installation; electrical) that didn't perform as planned. The great majority of the problems were created by the cabinet supplier (Kitchen Warehouse), getting complete delivery of all of the components and getting a satisfactory execution of the kitchen island cabinetry--all of which were outside of AGA's scope. Many contractors would have become (justifiably) very aggravated at all of the delays the owner created in the job, but AGA consistantly worked around them and promptly picked the job as soon as the opportunity was there. There is no doubt that if AGA had been in charge of all aspects of the work, the job would have gone infinitely smoother and would have stayed on schedule.
Description of Work: This job involved the complete reconstruction of an upstairs kitchen in a 1925 duplex. Work required gutting the room to the framing and included engineering and installing a new set of custom-built wood casement windows across the entire north wall of the kitchen. Also included was new plumbing for both perimeter and island sinks, quartz (Cesarstone) countertops and tile backsplashes around most of the kitchen and a split-level island. The floor was rebuilt with layers of resilient cork to provide sound isolation for a wood laminate flooring. Appliances installed included a Wolf range and a Kobe hood, dishwasher, ovens, two sinks and disposals, along with a filtered water system for the island and the refrigerator.

Overall they were very prompt, professional and considerate. At our meeting, Ariel took time to thoroughly check all the work we wanted done. He made good suggestions and asked pertinent questions. On the office side, Tami had excellent followup - coordinating the appointment, the proposal and the questions that followed. They sent the bid to us when they said they would, and their price was right in line with the other contractors who bid on the job. In fact, since we had found all the contractors on Angie's List, they all seemed excellent and it was really hard to make a decision! We have a hillside house on stilts, so any external work has special access considerations - scaffolding is required for pretty much anything that needs to be done on the outside. AGA felt it would be best if we provided our own scaffolding. In the end we went with another contractor who was wiling to provide the scaffolding as part of the job, but I would certainly consider AGA for future projects.
Description of Work: They came out to bid on a multi project remodel - siding and insulation, foundation painting, plumbing re-pipe and installation of hillside stairs.

Overall it went well -- the quality of the work was great. I can't stress this enough -- the work ultimately done was terrific. New bathroom is beautiful; built-in cabinetry is better than I had envisioned; the new kitchen cabinets are solid and look great; the electrical works like it should; the plumbing is happily copper; the floor looks great. The workers were very detail-oriented and the ultimate product is lovely. On the downside -- We had a few plumbing issues arise -- there was some water hammer after they'd finished; when I brought it to their attention, they installed a water hammer arrestor which solved the problem. (Also, the water pressure in the new shower was pretty lousy -- when I first complained, I was told it couldn't get any higher; but when I complained a second time, a solution was found.) Both of these things were absolutely resolved to my satisfaction -- it would have been better, though, if I hadn't even needed to complain. There were some change orders along the way (about 7), all of which were absolutely reasonable and fairly priced -- although I had kittens when a change order came through after I had been (prematurely, as it turns out) finally invoiced. (There were apologies from the office, and the owner, for this.) Despite these problems, I really do recommend these guys. I'm very happy with the completed work, and the price compared favorably to other bids I'd received (and other work I've had done over the years). I take them at their word that the billing error was an unintentional office foul-up, and I was very impressed at their willingness to keep coming back and work on the plumbing problems until they were resolved to my satisfaction. Indeed, it had reached a point where I was just willing to throw up my hands and "live with it," but they sent the plumber back one more time to make things better -- gold star for that. I don't know too many contractors that would keep sending someone back to make sure you're not just "settling" but are genuinely happy with their work.
Description of Work: They completely remodelled a very small bathroom and made it appear roomier. (Removed a wall enclosing the shower and put in a floating glass door; re-did the floor, the tile, installed new fixtures, etc.) Also upgraded the plumbing in the entire house to copper (which involved running it through the attic crawlspace) and installed a circulation pump; upgraded the old electrical panel; tore out a closet and replaced it with built-in shelving to my design; installed pantry cabinets in the kitchen (and put in a trash compactor and microwave); tore up some laminate flooring and replaced with tile; and various other small improvements.

Ariel was friendly and knowledgeable from the start. After discussing what I wanted to do, he suggested some things to make the project better, and he promptly sent me an estimate. Upon starting work, it was found that the previous owners had done a mickey mouse job with a supporting wall of the house and that the wall had to be replaced. AGA construction was able to quickly get a contractor in to do this unexpected work, and the project was able to move forward. The workers were always on time, and did a good job of cleaning up everyday. AGA went above and beyond what they had to do, even hauling away some old pergo flooring we had pulled out, and a huge glass shower door. We couldn't be happier with their work, and definitely would use them again.

Ariel, as always was prompt and friendly. I showed him what I wanted to him to do, he took a good look around, made some suggestions how to lower the cost, and then within two days had gotten back to me with a quote. His quote was actually the lowest of those estimates we got, and the quality of his work is excellent from previous experience, but we decided to go with someone else this time, as they could match the wood exactly for not much more.

Overall it was a good experience. The first two months of demo/construction went great, however, when we got to the cabinets we had a three-week delay. This was the cabinet companies fault and thanks to our contractor our finished product is amazing. They are very responsive to any issues that come up (as they will). During the demo part of it they kept a clean work site and were courteous to our neighbors. I would recommend removing ALL furniture, due to all the nicks your furniture will get. My only recommendation would be for them to hire a cleaning person to clean up the little stuff after the remodel is done. I was impressed with just how detail oriented they were. Very professional and always wanted to make sure we were happy. I would use them again!
Description of Work: New hardwood floors, gut/remodel bathroom and kitchen, paint inside of house, new molding/trim and dinning room expansion.

Fine - over a period of almost a whole month. But when the 3rd balcony was being prepared, it was discovered that the wooden joists were severely damaged. This more than doubled the original estimate, which was hard news to take. There was some last minute bickering over the last 1000.00 due to a confusing invoice system. Towards the end, there was some further aggravation due to the quality of the work going down. What bothered us the most was that the workers left the garage open and once even left the main entrance door open for an unknown period of time. We noticed some tools were missing in the garage. It did not end on a good note as I hoped. I had used the company before in 2007, I believe. It was a great experience on that prior occasion.
Description of Work: Demolished and hauled away rotten or seriously damaged wood from three balcony decks (2x6) and side stairs with landings. Installed new flooring for the same. Rebuilt 3rd balcony by installing new floor joists, stained wood and painted iron railing.

I BELIEVE MANY COMPANIES WOULDN’T FEEL THE NEED TO RESPOND TO AN AVERAGE “B” RATING; HOWEVER WE COMMITTED OURSELVES TO EXCELLENT SERVICE AND CUSTOMER CARE AND BECAUSE WE NEVER HAD A “B” RATING IN THE PAST, I FEEL THE NEED TO RESPOND TO THIS REPORT. I WOULD LIKE TO EXPLAIN THE DIFFICULTY I’M FACING IN MAKING MY COMMENTS. I OR ANYONE ELSE IN AGA WILL NEVER SAY ANYTHING TO MAKE OUR CUSTOMER FEEL LIKE WE ARE BLAMING OR JUDGING THEM, BASICALLY KEEPING THE ATTITUDE OF THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. THEREFORE I WOULD LIKE TO BRING ONLY FACTS AND KEEP MY OPINION ASIDE. IN ORDER TO KEEP THE PRIVACY OF MY CUSTOMERS I WILL REFER TO THEM AS THE CLIENT AND THE CLIENT’S HUSBAND. THE CLIENT HAS USED AGA IN THE PAST (SEE REPORT DATED 4/29/08) AS MENTIONED IN THEIR REPORT THEY WERE THRILLED WITH EVERY ASPECT OF THAT JOB. LATELY SHE CALLED US TO GIVE HER A BID FOR THE BALCONY WORK. THE JOB WAS A RELATIVELY SMALL JOB, CONSISTING OF REPLACING THE FLOOR OF THREE BALCONIES AND ABOUT 30 STAIRS, PAINTING ALL BALCONIES, STAIRS AND METAL RAILINGS OF THE BALCONIES AND STAIRS. OUR PRICE WAS $7,600. THEY DECIDED TO DO THE WORK WITH US (AND IF I’M NOT MISTAKEN THEY GOT TWO OTHER ESTIMATES, WHICH PROVES THAT OUR PRICE WAS REASONABLE). THROUGHOUT THIS PROJECT I COMMUNICATED WITH THE CLIENT’S HUSBAND, WHO AT THE END MENTIONED TO ME THAT HIS IMAGE OF CONTRACTORS IS VERY NEGATIVE AND THAT IS WHY HE WAS SO SUSPICIOUS OF US. HAD I KNOWN THAT BEFORE I WOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN ON THIS PROJECT, SINCE IT MADE THIS JOB VERY DIFFICULT AND HARD TO PLEASE THE CUSTOMER. MY RESPONSES TO THE CUSTOMERS COMMENTS: COMMENT: THE CHANGE ORDER OF THE THIRD BALCONY WAS TOO HIGH. MY RESPONSE: THE PRICE FOR THE THIRD BALCONY WAS $7,700. I UNDERSTAND HIS CONCERN FOR HAVING TO PAY DOUBLE THE PRICE THEY EXPECTED, BUT THIS WAS A VERY FAIR PRICE FOR THE WORK ENTAILED. THEY HAD THE OPTION OF NOT DOING THIS WORK OR HIRING ANOTHER COMPANY. COMMENT: THE INVOICING SYSTEM IS CONFUSING. MY RESPONSE: WE ARE USING QUICKBOOK INVOICING SYSTEM AND NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES OR COMPLAINTS IN THE PAST. I’M OPEN FOR CRITICISM AND SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT AND WILL CHECK HOW WE CAN IMPROVE OUR SYSTEM. COMMENT: THE PRICE FOR PAINTING WAS TOO HIGH. MY RESPONSE: THE PRICE I CHARGED FOR THE PAINTING WAS THE SAME PRICE I TOLD HIM I WOULD CHARGE, THE EXACT PRICE THAT IS ALSO STATED IN THE CONTRACT, $55 PER HOUR FOR ADDITIONAL WORK. THE JOB TOOK TWO HOURS AND WE BILLED HIM $110 (NOT $120). WHEN THE CLIENT’S HUSBAND TOLD ME THAT HE FEELS IT IS TOO EXPENSIVE I ASKED HIM HOW MUCH HE WOULD FEEL COMFORTABLE PAYING AND HE ANSWERED “NOTHING”. SO I AGREED TO RECEIVE NO MONEY FOR THIS WORK. COMMENT: WE USED “IMPROVISED SCAFFOLDING”. MY RESPONSE: THE LOWER BALCONY IS ON A VERY STEEP HEEL AND REQUIRED US TO BUILD A CUSTOM SCAFFOLD, WHICH IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN INSTALLING A REGULAR SCAFFOLD. WE USED OLD WOOD FROM THE DEMOLISHED MATERIAL. I PERSONALLY DO NOT SEE A PROBLEM WITH THAT, WHY WASTE MATERIALS WHEN YOU CAN USE THE ONE THAT IS GOING TO BE HAULED AWAY ANYWAY. I ALSO TOLD HIM THAT I WILL USE THE OLD MATERIALS FOR THE SCAFFOLD. COMMENT: SHOW RECEIPTS OF PURCHASES AND DON’T USE DIFFERENT EMPLOYEES. MY RESPONSE: WE’VE NEVER BEEN ASKED TO SHOW RECEIPTS TO OUR CLIENTS AND HAVE NO PROBLEM SHOWING THEM UPON CUSTOMERS REQUEST. THE SAME EMPLOYEE WHO STARTED THIS JOB ALSO FINISHED IT, EXCEPT FOR THE PAINTER. COMMENT: WE LEFT THE GARAGE OPEN AND TOOLS WERE MISSING. MY RESPONSE: I AM VERY SORRY FOR THAT AND I APOLOGIZED TO THE CLIENT’S HUSBAND WHEN HE MENTIONED IT TO ME. THE WORKERS NEEDED TO GET IN AND OUT OF THIS GARAGE ALL DAY AND IT WOULDN’T BE EASY FOR THEM TO OPEN AND CLOSE IT EVERY TIME. I ASKED THE CLIENT’S HUSBAND WHAT WAS MISSING AND WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME HE SAW THEM, EVEN THOUGH HE WASN’T SURE ABOUT BOTH, I DEDUCTED THE AMOUNT HE TOLD ME FROM THE LAST INVOICE. FINAL WORDS: I THANK THE CLIENT AND THE CLIENT’S HUSBAND FOR ALLOWING US TO SERVE THEM. I’M SORRY FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART THAT THEY WERE NOT 100% SATISFIED WITH US AND THAT WE DID NOT MEET THEIR EXPECTATIONS. WE DID EVERYTHING WE COULD TO PLEASE THEM INCLUDING REDUCING THE PRICE IN TWO OCCASIONS. WE TRIED TO EXPLAIN EVERYTHING THE BEST WE COULD AND MAKE IT AS CLEAR AS POSSIBLE TO THEM. ALL MY CLIENTS (EXCEPT THIS ONE MAYBE) CAN ATTEST TO IT. I WILL TRY AS I ALWAYS DID TO PLEASE ALL MY CLIENTS AND TRY TO MAKE SURE THEY WILL BE HAPPY WITH US AND RATE US AN “A” COMPANY LIKE THEY ALL DID IN THE PAST. ARIEL AZRIEL AGA CONSTRUCTION INC.

Perfect. Everything went swell. I have no complaints whatsoever. Roy, the supervisor, was diligent and on the ball. They even sent me flowers at the end of the job.
Description of Work: Installing new windows and sliding door on one side of home and rebuilding that area due to dry rot/water damage. Repairing dry rot on parts of the house. Building a new wood sliding door w/glass windows approx. 6X8 feet. Installing new paneling on inside of house due to the demolishing.

Overall was a learning experience, from what friends had told me off their remodeling nightmares. The first day they taped off the rest off the house put down protective floor covering and did the demo to the studs and cleared it away same day. Then the interesting part came into play, the foreman had only one type of worker on any day. One day just the electrician, the next day just the plummer etc. etc. the whole day so the workers weren't over lapping or getting in each other way. Estimated time to complete the work was six weeks, took them just under eight weeks (mostly due to un-foreseen older home issues), so surprised since was told by same friends to add at least six weeks to the estimate.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of galley kitchen. Which included removal of two walls (one load baring), replace substandard electrical and install new updated breaker box. They installed a garden window, the appliances and custom cabinets we ordered. Combining the kitchen, dining room and living room into one GREAT room. Installed recess lights throughout the kitchen and great room. New laminate floor in kitchen Built new hall closet and small linen closet.

There were complications-so much re-framing was not anticipated, for example, and there were some issues with one of the subcontractors(who, as it turns out, was having health problems and later replaced). However, Roy(the foreman)and Ariel(the owner)were tremendously accommodating-on every occasion that came up, they took the "customer is right" attitude, and fixed things to my satisfaction without hassle. That approach is unusual, and was much appreciated. They are great to work with, and knowing they will help you rather than argue with you takes some of the stress out of a remodel project. My only comment would be that they could perhaps provide greater oversight of the subs(ensuring they put up plastic sheeting as a dust barrier, or taking more precautions to protect the floor, for example).
Description of Work: Replaced all windows in this 1930's Spanish style home. This required much unanticipated re-framing due to termite damage. Sandblasted and re-stuccoed the entire house with a "Santa Barbara" style smooth-surfaced finish. Built a "real" shed for the water heater, which involved pouring a floor, framing, roofing, stuccoing, and removing/installing the heater.

The whole experience was great. I was so impressed with everyone I dealt with: the receptionist (Rebecca?), Ariel, and the supervisor and workers he sent out. They answered all my questions and provided me with all the information I asked for like insurance confirmation. I was very concerned at first when I learned that the original stair rail was not anchored in to a stud and that AGA would have to add extra vertical bars to what was already there. My stair rail is beautiful and I didn't want to modify it, but they did a wonderful job with that and adding another portion of stair rail to the upper staircase. You really can't notice the added bars, and as Ariel and the supervisor pointed out, safety was the most important consideration, especially since I was pregnant at the time. I've since had the baby and when I go up and down those stairs with her, I think of AGA and what a great job they did. The rails are super-safe now. AGA gave us quotes for other work and I will DEFINITELY use this company again for that once we are ready to proceed.
Description of Work: Anchored a wobbly antique wrought iron stair rail, and modified and installed another vintage stair rail on the upper portion of the stairs.

Look. Any project is going to have glitches. It is part of the experience. Ariel tried very hard to make the glitches little bumps rather than big ones. He was very accommodating to our schedules. His crews cleaned up every day when they left. Everyone was very respectful and clean. There was always at least one person on the crew who spoke English....I mean that not only could you understand him but he could understand what you were saying to him. They worked very hard and seemed to take a lot of pride in their work. We were always shown what they were doing and explained why they were doing it that way. Ariel and the crew listened to what we wanted and really discussed things with us. When there was disagreements, rarely, we discussed everything calmly and rationally. When we had a complaint, Ariel would investigate it. There was no "protection issues" with his crew that they were always right and we were always wrong. It was always resolved appropriately and fairly. We enjoyed working with them. They are honest and hard working people who have pride in what they do. They weren't "yes" men to get us to do something. They were rational and truthful.
Description of Work: We live in a tri-level and there is a deck outside of the master bedroom which leaks. After 5 supposed repairs, AGA rebuilt the deck for us. Also, we had water leakage from the outside wall into the garage. They also repaired the leak area and put in new dry wall. They checked the support beams for water damage and mold.
