The Water Heater Pro Inc

I was having problems with my Takagi T-M1 tankless water heater, which is 10 years old and starting to act up. The gas burner would not ignite. I called another tankless specialist (recommended on Angie's List), who charges $250 for a service call. He came twice (for total of $500) and each time he took a rubber mallet and banged on the one-way valve to dislodge some debris inside. After the unit stopped working again, I decided to save myself $250 and bought a rubber mallet. I managed to keep the unit going for a few more weeks by banging on it, but then it stopped. That is when I looked for another service professional and called Eric. He diagnosed a leak between two valves which was causing an electrical short. This caused the unit to shut down automatically. Eric asked if he unit had ever been flushed, which is a recommended annual service. I said no, the original installer had not given us any information about maintaining it. Eric performed a flush using a pump and descaling solution. He fixed the leak and also repaired a leaking service sink faucet at no extra charge. Eric charged a total of $188 for almost three hours of labor, which is a very good price. He was on time, communicated very well by phone and during the service call, and had a thorough knowledge of the unit he was working on. I was totally satisfied with Eric's professionalism and his services were very competitively priced ($188 for almost 3 hours of work vs. $250 for 30 minutes with the first guy). I would highly recommend him if you have any problems with a tankless water heater. Mine is a Takagi, but he installs and services all the brands. IF YOU HAVE AN OLDER WATER HEATER, A LOT OF SERVICE COMPANIES WILL REFUSE TO HELP YOU BECAUSE THEY HAVE ONLY BEEN TRAINED ON THE RECENT MODELS, WHICH ARE EASIER TO WORK ON. Very efficient. Wasn't looking to do more. I asked him about replacing hose to washing machine since it's been 18 years since it was last installed. Said hose looks good doesn't need replacing now.
