Purple Trees Landscape Maintenance

As usual, Purple Trees did EXCELLENT work. I e-mailed Rigo Perez (the owner of the company) about what I needed done. He quickly returned my e-mail and gave me a time and date that he could send his crew to do the work. The crew arrived on time and with all of the materials they needed to get the job done. The guys on the crew were very professional and easy to communicate with. Within just a few hours the job was done (including adding and adjusting a couple of sprinklers) and looked great! I have been using Purple Trees for my weekly garden maintenance for several years now and have been very satisfied with the quality of the the work on a weekly basis as well. Rigo Perez and his crew are extremely knowledgeable and efficient. I have lived in the Los Angeles area for about 40 years and can easily say that Purple Trees is the best landscaping/gardening company I have ever employed. I highly recommend Purple Trees for landscape design/installation as well as weekly maintenance!

Rigo returned my phone call immediately, and showed up on a Sunday. I explained exactly what I wanted, he repeated verbatim what I said. His team showed up and did an EXCELLENT job. Not a thing was left out of place or forgotten. Rigo called me to tell me they had clipped a sprinkler line, they marked it and came back and fixed it. Where do you get that kind of honesty these days? I am very happy with the job and plan on using them again.

Rigo has been taking care of my yard for about a year now and it looks gorgoeus. His guys are so professional and so nice and accommodating..its such a pleasure. I have probably gone thru 20 gardners and they have all been terrible..when I hired Rigo, his monthly price was a bit high, but I told him I would go for it if my house was maintained beautifully..and it sure is and worth every cent every month. I have a ton of flowers(looks like Disneyland in my yard) and he replaces what needs to be replaced. There isnt a day that goes by that someone stops and says how great the yard looks. Yesterday a neighbor stopped to get his business card. He has also come to my house late at night a few times to fix a leaky sprinkler and worked extra long hours to get my house ready for the holidays. He always responds to my calls and emails..he also has a great eye for landscaping..making some great suggestions that end up working for me. When the guys leave every Tuesday, my yard looks perfect and pristene. Rigo has also replaced my sprinkler system and layed new sod for me..looks great! I am extremely satisfied with Rigo's work and I can highly recommend him..You won't be sorry!

After my experience with Rigo Perez and his henchman who does his dirty work for him, I have absolutely nothing good to say about him or the way he runs his business. I hired Purple Trees not quite a year ago after reading their positive reviews on Angie's List to do my weekly garden service. Rigo's selling point was that he's always reachable via cell, text or email. His workers were the standard mow, blow and go type gardeners. Anything beyond the basic maintenance required a call to Rigo, which wasn't always easy as he wasn't good about returning calls. Several weeks ago, my sprinkler timer broke and needed to be replaced. I told Rigo that I wanted him to replace it and let me know how much it will cost. He sent a couple of his workers out to replace the sprinkler timer with a new Hunter unit which was fine. When I got his bill the following month, I did a double take-he wanted $220 for the new timer ($120-timer, $100-labor) I looked on the internet to see what this particular model was worth and found that it was between $75-$100. I then asked Rigo to show me the receipt. He said that it's not his policy to show customers the receipts for purchases that he buys on their behalf! If someone is buying something that you're paying for, you have a right to see the receipt. I also knew that $100 was too much to pay to install a sprinkler timer so I asked my neighbor's gardener how much he would charge. He said around $20. I called Rigo to see if he would negotiate on the price and he said that it's not negotiable and he would send one of his workers out to uninstall my unit and replace it with the old one. He said that he could sell it to someone else for just as much, if not more money. In response, I told him that I no longer required his services and hung up. He was extremely nasty, but that's not the worst part. The next day, he sent his worker who neglected to ring the doorbell to notify me of his presence. He trespassed on my property (my driveway gate was locked and he found a way to get in) and proceeded to remove the timer. At the time he came, I was on an important conference call and couldn't deal with the situation. I looked out the door and saw what he was doing. The guy said, "Sorry, my boss told me to do this". The next day, I hired a new gardener who looked at the timer and said, "This guy really didn't like you, did he?" He told me that they had cut the wire that runs under the house which communicates with the valve box and the sprinklers in the front. They deliberately vandalized my property out of vindictiveness because I dared to question his inflated prices and lack of transparency. Even though RIgo instructed his worker to cut my wires, the guy didn't have to do it. Rigo wouldn't have known the difference. My recommendation is to avoid this guy at all costs. He's dishonest, unethical and vindictive. If someone does something like that, you don't know what they're capable of. In response to Rigo's comments below, I knew that he would try to defend his actions when they are indefensible. He is right about one thing, I didn't request an estimate because I was in a hurry to replace the unit, which was, in retrospect, a mistake. I trusted him to be honest and fair and as a result, was taken advantage of. Just because I didn't request an estimate doesn't mean that you should take advantage of your customers. If a timer is worth $75 and you're charging $120, how do you justify that? If other gardeners are asking for $20 to install the same device, why would your services be worth so much more? You owe your customers their right to see receipts for purchases that you buy on their behalf. If you don't, you've got something to hide. Also, I wasn't complaining about weekly maintenance, per se, I found it almost impossible to reach this man when I needed him. His mailbox was often full and I could not leave a voice mail message. The last encounter I had with him I left 2 voice mail messages. No callback. I finally called a 3rd time and said, "I'm not going to pay your bill until you call me back". Only then did I hear from him. Rigo only provided one estimate while he worked for me when I was planning a vegetable garden. His estimate (verbal) was more than the person I wound up hiring who was far more knowledgeable. My use of the word, "henchman" is appropriate when that person enters my property without my consent or permission (the gate was locked) and deliberately cuts the wiring to the device in question so that it needs to be rewired. Since I was occupied when he came and unable to answer the door, you should have called me to arrange a mutually convenient time to come. You no longer worked for me and had no right to enter my property. Why in the world did you instruct your worker to cut the wires on my timer? You're lucky if I don't take you to court. Regarding "personally knowing the gardener that provided services prior to me and know that they had similar issues"; you're trying to sling mud at me when you're the one who did wrong. My former gardener did not choose to no longer do business with me, I let him go because I, similarly, couldn't reach him when I needed to speak with him. You wish that I would be more professional about the situation? Where's your professionalism? Inflating prices over double the actual amount, lying on Angies List in order to maintain your 'A' rating which you don't deserve. Breaking through a driveway gate and cutting a customer's wires. Doesn't sound too professional to me. You wish me the best with future services? Sure you do. You're in the penalty box.

They helped us get our yard cleaned up when we moved in (it hadn't been maintained for 4 -6 months) and have used them weekly since. If you think you can't afford a gardener, you can afford these guys. Do you do your own oil changes?

I phoned Purple Trees and set up and appointment. A few days later a very professional gentleman showed up and walked around my property discussing what needed to be done. He pointed out areas where I could do things differently and offered up suggestions as to what to do with my yard. We agreed upon a maintenance plan and then agreed that we would identify numerous projects that would be priced separately...exactly what I wanted!!!! They arrived on the agreed upon day and spent time cleaning up my property, even doing a few things they did not need to (i.e. take my garbage cans to the curb, fix a fountain). The guys even took time to chat with my wife and I about the work. Very nice guys, both the manager who visited us the week prior and the guys who came to do the work. I look forward to a long relationship with this very professional group of people. Thanks!!!!

We found Rigo, the owner of Purple Trees, through Angie's List. We were looking for a new property maintenance company to replace unsatisfactory service from our current provider and also to get more than a weekly "mow & blow." We needed adjustments to our irrigation system, trees trimmed, and we wanted a proactive property maintenance service that kept the flower and shrub beds always looking neat and fresh. (This review applies only to the tree service. We will review separately the other services provided by Purple Trees.) It was clear to us from first meeting Rigo that he was for us. He is the owner of the business and takes pride in his craft and his reputation. So far, his services have exceeded our expectations. He was polite, knowledgeable and prompt to respond with his detailed and fixed-price quotation. Even though it took us 2-3 weeks to give him the OK to proceed, he remembered us and arrived the first day that his crew was to have worked on our property. Regarding the tree service of which this review is about, one of several distinct services Purple Trees provided, Rigo's crew arrived bright and early on the scheduled day and performed the work as described. They were neat and cleaned up after the job. One of the crew even stopped to explain to me why one decorative tree needed to be thinned out and when it would grow back in and how often it needed to be thinned. Overall, we are very happy with Rigo and Purple Trees. The crew is top notch, polite, professional and neat.

The work was everything we expected and more. Every day when the crew left, even if they were not done and had to come back the next day, they left the property immaculate -- hosed down, cleaned, all debris hauled away -- and they even neatly stored to the side unused material that was still needed. At the end of each day's work, one of the crew had the courtesy of ringing our doorbell to let me know they were leaving for the day and that I should now close my garage door. An excellent experience. We feel like we are getting high quality work, NOT just the usual talk during the quotation process followed by mediocre delivery. The work is now complete except for some fine tuning of the irrigation timing. The property looks better than it was before they started the project.

I have been using Rigo and his landscaping company for close to a year now for gardening and maintenance services. When I first met Rigo he was a consummate professional and even after a year he remains that way. Beyond his knowledge of plants, trees and shrubs, which is impressive, he is responsive to e-mails and phone calls and does his utmost to service the customer and requests. In fact a year ago, when we had our back yard hardscaped and landscaped by another company, we had issues with raccoons tearing up the newly placed turf. Rigo was able to provide us with a humane solution for trapping the raccoon and releasing it into the wild. He has provided us with great advice on plant selection and maintenance of our back and front yards without overly incurring extra cost. One of the best things he offers is payment by PayPal, which is so headache free, I'm surprised others don't adopt this payment method. The reason I'm writing this now, aside from just trying to find time to write a review, is that after I expressed to Rigo that I needed a little extra plant and shrub trimming as part of our weekly service, he personally came out that same week to not only supervise but to help with the maintenance. My yard looks great, better than ever, and he has assured me that that is how my yard will continue to look since my request. I would highly recommend Rigo and Purple Trees Landscape Maintenance if you are planning on an entire landscaping project or even monthly/weekly gardening maintenance. You will not be disappointed.

They are attentive. They care about what they're doing. They respond quickly to requests. It's easy to communicate with Rigo. Our experience has been excellent. It's hard to find a great gardener and it's a relief to finally have someone we can trust to keep all the living things in our yard healthy and happy.

Rigo Perez and his crew have saved my landscaping. When my wonderful gardener retired, the business got sold to a mow-and-blow gardener. After nearly a year, the weeds, broken sprinklers and damaged plants were turning my beautifully landscaped outdoors to something out of a Zombie story. After only 2 months of service (May and June), my shrubs are recovering, the weeds are 80 percent controlled and the lawn is coming back. The Purple Trees monthly fee is $40 more than the previous gardener, which is a stretch for my budget, but it is worth it to see the planters coming back--even as summer approaches.

I think Rigo is amazing! always a smile, an up attitude. Our yard is rather large, and we are concerned about the amount of water we are using on the lawn. Rigo and guys removed existing turf, and distributed bark in all beds. Even though the "look" isn't great (our fault), Rigo has helped us start the transition to a somewhat drought resistant garden. I will most definitely use him as we decide to do more. He is also my weekly gardener. My only complaint is that Rigo himself does not come every week, but we've discussed, and he is happy to check in every month. Again, he's very amenable and a delight to work with! And that's worth a bundle in my opinion.

The company has amazing customer service and our contractor was super knowledgeable, helpful, and punctual. The only reason we did not proceed with the project was because of the cost. We were not prepared to spend that much.

They're responsive and professional, neat and timely.

They were very responsive and prompt. They came back several times to fix certain parts of the new lawn until we were satisfied which was much appreciated. They also very nicely replaced some bushes that were killed when the old lawn was taken out. Very good service.

Rigo responded immediately to our request and managed to come out the very next day. He was very clear and honest about the job we needed done (laying sod in the backyard). Unfortunately the task was bigger than we'd imagined and we opted for an alternative, but Rigo helped out there, too! He gave very honest and helpful advice about how we can go with gravel instead, at a fraction of the cost. I haven't had great luck with home services lately, so it was a refreshing change to find such a great professional to go out of his way to help, even if he didn't get the work. We were very happy with the encounter.

Found Rigo on Angie's List along with a couple of other yard maintenance services. I called him and he returned my call promptly. We made an appt and he showed up on time, emailed me a bid and I liked him right away. His bid was reasonable, so I decided to go with Rigo rather than the other 2 bids I got. It wasnt only because of his bid that I went with him, but because of his attitude and personality. Anyway, we set up a date for him to come and clean up my yard, which was overgrown and a big mess. He showed up on time with his crew and they stayed til they finished cleaning up and hauled away all the weeds, foliage, etc. I have now hired him to maintain my yard...so..so far, so good! Highly recommend him.

From start to finish, our experience with Rigo and Purple Trees Landscape has been outstanding. After an initial email, he quickly responded with a time to meet a few days later. On the day of the estimate, Rigo showed up at the appointed time and walked through my entire property to understand what we were looking for. As part of the conversation he suggested we get our own roll off bin to lower our overall costs. Rigo provided us an estimate for his work within a couple of days (the agreed upon time frame) and we scheduled the work for a Saturday/Monday. As I was researching dumpsters, I had a question for Rigo as to the appropriate size. He emailed me back the same evening with the info I needed so I could order the dumpster. He and his crew showed up at 8:00 AM on the scheduled Saturday, and he did a walk through with his crew so that everybody understood what was to be done. His crew worked diligently all day and actually finished the job in 1 day instead of the estimated two. The work was absolutely outstanding and exceeded our expectations in both speed and thoroughness. Throughout our engagement with him, Rigo has been professional, fun and ON TIME with everything and we look forward to his ideas to re-do the backyard. We would highly recommend Rigo and Purple Trees to anybody that wants quality service.

We just bought a new house in Reseda and selected Purple Trees to get an estimate for our gardening service based on Angie's List reviews. I have called 3 times now this week and each time I reach a recording that says "the mail box is full"...I can't even leave a message. This is obviously not a good sign. If I were a current customer, I would be very unhappy.

I was having a birthday party for my mother and I wanted to have it in my backyard, the only problem was that my backyard was a total mess. The grass was tall, bushes were not trimmed, and leaves everywhere. I wanted it to be cleaned up as soon as possible, they were able to clean it all up as soon as I was ready to have them over. The workers came prepared with all of the necessary equipment. The guys payed close attention to detail and made sure my backyard looked as presentable as possible for the party.

Our experience has been fantastic, and really made the maintenance of our yard seemless - Rigo is always available to talk about specific requests and projects, and has been invaluable.

They showed up on time and did a great job on the clean up. I was amazed at the quantity hauled away. The weekly maintenance is also good. So far, I have had to mention very little about what needs to be done as they are already routinely doing it on their own!

Rigo came out on a Sunday for the clean up. They spent most of day here transforming my overgrown front and back yark. They cleaned up everything and hauled it away. Very clean and professional. The weekly maintenance is done quickly and efficiently. They are always here around the same time on Wednesday. They even take my bins out to the street since our pickup is on Thursday. We couldn't be happier.

Rigo came out, we showed him the flower beds to be replanted, talked about the kinds of plants we liked. He told us the price and came out the next day to do the work. It was brilliant, he's an artist in my opinion that he could take what we merely discussed and create the beautiful flower scapes he did at our house. Rigo is a polite, honest and extremely talented person and I will use him here as much as I can. Thanks Rigo.
