We obtained a number of bids (a lengthy process) and decided to go with Bruce based on Angie's List recommendations and price. During our decision process, Bruce had committed to a large job but we agreed that he would work weekends at our house. While it would take considerably longer to complete the work, we liked the price, and it would also make the coordination of some other crafts easier. Communications were excellent--Bruce was generally reachable on his cellphone or returned calls within the day. His paperwork was meticulous--everything clearly in writing, including copies of insurance certificates. He arrived promptly for all scheduled work appointments, and always cleaned up afterward. During the work process, we made some design changes, and add-on charges were fair and agreed upon up front. The quality of the preparation work was good. The only problems occurred at the end. Due to schedule conflicts, Bruce sent a subcontractor to do the final grouting. We were left with considerable excess grout and haze, particularly on the floor tile. With the wisdom of hindsight, a pre-grouting sealer should probably have been used on the floor tile (and I wish Bruce had suggested it). However, Bruce came out and was able to remove the excess to our satisfaction. There were also a few complications to the installation (a wall niche in the shower, a rather uneven surface on the concrete slab sub-floor) for which the final results were somewhat less than perfect. Overall, I'd have to say that the quality of the finish and workmanship were, while acceptable, not exactly first rate. In fairness, this may have been somewhat due to the time constraints and the fact that Bruce was a pretty tired guy by the time he finally got a weekend off.
Description of Work: Installed approx. 160 square feet of ceramic wall tile and 85 square feet of ceramic floor tile for masterbath remodel, including glass tile borders/accents and floating shower walls, tub deck and backsplash. We provided tile and grout, other materials were included.

Bruce met me promptly for a quote appointment. He measured all the areas in question and left me with a detailed quote listing all work to be performed and the square feet of tiles needed to do the job. He started when he said he would and finished in a timely manner. He ran into difficulties since my house is old and nothing is square. But still managed to complete all work as promised and with good humor. He was neat and clean no mess was visible at the end of each day.
Description of Work: Bruce totally re did the tile in the bathroom: replace tile floor, tile shower stall. The shower stall was built by my contractor to replace a fiberglass one that was in place. Bruce built the shower pan, had it hot moped, floated cement on floor and in the shower area. He personally bullnosed tiles as needed for the job.
