Description of Work: I ordered the Ooma Telo by phone, directly from Ooma. They offered me a better discount than I had seen online at Amazon. The unit came when expected and installed easily. Call quality is very good, with no discernible delays. I have had a trial subscription to their Premier level service, but we have no need of those features, and I will opt out of it before it is billed to my account. Beyond the initial expense of the Ooma Telo unit itself, my only ongoing expense will be $4.32/month in mandatory taxes. I expect to port my landline phone number to the Ooma Telo unit and then cancel my landline service, but I have not yet done that. I wanted to verify that the Ooma service was meeting expectations first.

Description of Work: Actually that 149.00 is the retail price of the OOMA Telo box. I usually get them on sale for $99 or used for $75 but one has to pay $9.99 to activate a used unit. After that, your telephone service {VOIP} is nearly free, $3.80-$4.00 per month for taxes and fees, plus you must maintain your internet connection. As long as you have broadband internet, this is one of the best deals in land line service. Very similar in operation to other VOIP services such as Vonnage or your cable company's service but far less expensive.

Description of Work: This company provides an alternative Voip service for your home phone, so you can free yourself from AT&T, if you choose to do so. They provide many of the services that AT&T does for your "land line", and costs about 80% less than AT&T. So far (since late summer), I've noticed no less quality of voice signal, and when I've had technical questions about the Ooma unit in my house, the tech support is second to none. Overall, a very good switch for me.

Description of Work: We just purchased the Ooma Telo through Wal-Mart online. It was a breeze to set up and we got to choose our own phone number. No monthly fees. Only pay taxes on calls made. For a monthly fee, you can have caller ID and all that stuff. No thanks for us.

Description of Work: Ooma is a great VOIP phone service with one major flaw. They sell very attractive wireless handsets that link directly to the ooma base, eliminating the need for a separate phone system. Big problem is, and this is on the original handsets and the new version is they lock up. Sometimes just one, and sometimes all of them. This happens repeatedly and many people have this issue. Had we not had hard wired phones in addition to the handsets we could be left completely without phone service and not know it until we try to make a call or someone tries to call in. In my opinion this is a major if not dangerous flaw so I recommend the Ooma service but stay away from the handsets.
