got help as usual which was great and steered me to low-cost solution/devices I needed. Historically the service has always been great here starting with my first visit 7 years ago to buy parts to build my own hackintosh machine from scratch with no computer building experience whatsoever...staff loaded me up with what I needed, making sure everything fit together and built that first machine with no problems because of the the staff's expertise and instructions without any bias towards manufacturer and making sure I don't buy what I don't need... Only issue is parking at the SF store where I do my shopping...
Description of Work: purchased power line and lan switch and HDMI switch...

I have issues with my Win7 computer and I thought they were suppose to understand computers, but when I called them they acted like they had never heard of Win7 and where unsure if they could help me. Needless to say I didn't even bother to bring my system in and I won't even think of them the next time I have an issue with my computers.

This was a very smooth process. It was very economical becasue the diagnostic fee goes towards the repair I did, so I didn't have to pay a diagnostic and labor. They were very honest. I was recommended a cheaper power supply because my computer is very simple.
Description of Work: My computer stopped working one day and I brought it to Central Computers. They diagnosed the machine for $29. They figured out it was a bad power supply. All I had to do was buy a new one for around $40. I didn't have to pay any more for labor because the $29 diagnostic went towards the installation fee which was also $29.

I dropped off my computer late on a Saturday evening. They told me that they probably couldn't look at it till Monday b/c only one tech is working on weekends. On Monday morning I got a call. Pat had some questions about the original hard drive set up -- which I answered. About an hour later he called saying he fixed the problem. I went down there and he showed me my working computer. There was a setting wrong in the BIOS. He showed me how to reset it. When I got home with the computer, it had stopped working again. Took it back in the next day. In 10 minutes, Pat found out that the lithium coin battery was intermittent. He replaced the battery, this time under warranty. The computer problem was fixed after that. In addition, Pat installed and tested some $10 software which got my DVD burner hardware running.
Description of Work: Computer would not boot up b/c it could not find the hard drives. Problem was fixed. DVD burner did not have driver software installed. Installed and tested driver software.
