No one wants to spend a lot of money for foundation work which doesn't improve the look of your home at all, but if you have to do it, you have to. And Alpha Structural made sure that we only did work that was necessary, but also made sure it was done well. Some other contractors we talked to seemed more interested in jumping to the most expensive and extensive solution possible. Mark quickly told us that our house was "safe and not going to fall down" and that he had a way to hopefully stop the wall from tilting any more while avoiding the costly approach of using caissons (pillars) down to bedrock all around the house. He then described the large concrete reinforcing beam that we went with. Dave, Mark's brother, supervised the site very well during the 3-week process and answered all our technical questions as we went along. David, the foreman (different from Dave), was expert at his job, had good suggestions as the job progressed and worked neatly and professionally. They added brackets for free to some columns we had which had been just resting flat on the patio. When it became obvious that our slab was of poorer quality than anticipated, they quickly changed plans to replace the whole thing in the adjacent room rather than just remove the "bulge", and they did it at a fair price.

Mark was friendly, very knowledgeable and helpful in answering my questions and explaining the options I had. He understood the permitting process for LA.

They were fantastic. They were punctual, professional, courteous and they found ways to minimize costs for us. I would recommend them and use them again.

He called me in advance to let me know that he was going to be a half hour late. He told me that he felt my foundation was sturdy. He told me that he could work on the foundation but did not feel it was a necessary repair. He made my day!

I called to make an appt. ASAP for a foundation inspection. The friendly woman who answered gave me an appointment a couple of days later, on a Wednesday afternoon. I found out Wednesday morning that a work emergency required me to be in my office, so I immediately called Alpha to postpone. No one answered, so I left a message explaining the situation and asked that someone call me back to reschedule. No one called me back. So, later that morning, I called again. Again, no one answered so I left another message. Finally, 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, the inspector calls me back, angry that I was not at my house at the appointment time. I explained that I had called and left repeated messages to postpone. He was furious, stating that I should have been given his cell phone number by his office, that I wasted his time driving there and that now that he's been to my house once, he'll never return and that I should call his competitors. He was rude and unprofessional.

I only needed an assessment. He emailed a detailed report to me and since the "fix" required removing a neighbor's tree and some minor work, I did not hire him to do any work. I was very satisfied with Alpha Structural Engineering for their promptness and professionalism.

This was the most professional crew I have ever worked with. This was not the least expensive bid I received, but it was the only one that addressed all of the concerns I had regarding drainage in an aesthetic manner. Mark is very good at visualizing different possibilities and he is able to quickly identify problems with structure and drainage.
