Jeff, Leonard and all the workers are the BEST !! My new yard is my favorite place to hang out. They listened to my dream, took into consideration my budget and gave me what I asked for. They also completed it when they said they would ( that never happens). The workers were nice as well as respectful of my space. They even put up with my naughty dogs when necessary. If I ever decide to do my front yard I will definitely be calling them back.
Description of Work: installed a retaining wall all the way around the yard- laid a 20X 23 patio out of pavers- installed pergola- created drainage system to accommodate new hardscape and slope of yard- new fencing on one side

We hired Pacific Outdoor Living to relandscape our backyard, installing all new stone, turf, pool coping and reshaping the whole space. Khalil was an outstanding project manager - always communicating what was going to get done by when and they moved very quickly. Khalil was not going to be happy unless we were thrilled and he delivered! Khalil also had to contend with a simultaneous project that we had going on in the same space of an ADU renovation - and he was very accommodating and communicative during the process to help it all go smoothly. The guys doing the masonry work were fantastic - taking the care to do perfect work on a project that required laying a lot of stone tile on the patio and around the pool. Our backyard is beautiful now and I would highly recommend Pacific Outdoor Living to anyone needing landscape work of any size.

We are so happy we worked with Pacific Pavingstone to do our pool deck. The process was smooth from start to finish. My project estimator, Ken Avner, was prompt, professional, knowledgeable and had great suggestions which helped me keep my project within my budget. The installation team similarly was knowledgeable, professional, and prompt. The pavers look great. I wish I had used Pacific Outdoor Living for everything in my project, they made everything run smoothly, on time and on budget, with no nickel and dime surprises and delays. I have already contacted them about additional work.

No work was performed at all. I sent a message through the message feature of the Angie's List platform on 4/17/19 and as of 4/24/19 ( a week later) no response back to that message. I also called the company directly and spoke to Aracely on 4/18/19 and she told me that she would have someone to call me back, that everyone was in a "big meeting" and she couldn't have anyone to talk to me right there and then. No courtesy call back either as of 4/24. My rating is based on the lack of professionalism. If this is the kind of communication or lack of communication rather, that the customers are receiving from this company, this is the not the company I want to work with. We have received two quotes from two different companies that we've contacted and they have responded back the same day, scheduling appointments with us within this last week. Now our original "spool" project (which I guess was not good enough for Pacific Outdoor Living) has become a full spa/pool and hardscape project, which I'm sure will turn out great once we hire a different contractor.
Description of Work: Pool construction and hardscape
We hired Pacific Outdoor Living to do a bunch of projects in our small space in Burbank. They built an amazing water feature, added some grass to a space that was formerly concrete slab, completely changed our front yard from a lawn that was all weeds to a beautiful garden, built a stone wall in front of aforementioned garden, converted our sprinklers to drip irrigation, and added some lighting. From Andrew the designer to Chad, Jorge, and Daniel the supervisors to all the workers, everyone at this company is top notch. They got the job done super quickly, and were as professional as can be. They were more expensive than the other bids we got, but this was one of those "you get what you pay for" situations and we couldn't be happier with the results. I'd recommend them in a heartbeat.

These folks are true pros and take such pride in their work. Our project manager Juan Horta was brilliant and every time he brought something up to us we absolutely agreed with him. The pool and landscaping look gorgeous. All the edges and details are finished beautifully. The whole crew are experts in their different fields. Onecimo and the paver crews, Santos and the landscapers - we can see everyone put real care and pride in their work. Jackie Flor was our designer and she put in a lot of hours getting us the design we wanted. The price was laid out and explained at the beginning and there was nothing hidden or unexpected. They all went above and beyond. We're so happy we put in the pool and we're super happy we went with Pacific Outdoor Living.

Pacific Outdoor Living has been an exceptional company to work with. I had pavers and artificial turf installed on both my front yard and backyard, and the company’s entire team ensured that every project was completed efficiently, professionally, skillfully, and beautifully. When a pipe broke under the artificial turf in my front yard, they helped me fix the problem with the same exceptional customer care and quality workmanship. Jill, the customer service representative, was very empathetic with my concerns and helped coordinate the repair. Daniel, the landscape supervisor, was very kind, knowledgeable, and professional when he came to evaluate my situation. Stassi, the landscape production department director, personally called me to discuss the repair project and pricing. She was very kind, considerate, and understanding. On the day of the repair, Daniel personally came with Pablo and Carlos. They all worked together to find and fix the source of problem quickly and efficiently. They clearly explained every step of what they were doing, and they made sure that everything was done properly to prevent any future problems. Once the broken pipe was repaired, they skillfully re-installed the road base, decomposed granite, weed barrier, and artificial turf. They also fluffed up the artificial turf to make it look beautiful and seamless again. I sincerely appreciate the exceptional customer care and quality workmanship that the Pacific Outdoor Living team consistently provides. I have highly recommended them to my friends and family, and I will continue to hire them for future projects.

We absolutely would come back to POL. Working with them was a breeze! We refer all of our friends to them. Love it
We contracted pacific outdoor living a few years ago to re do our backyard. We let it go over the years and needed a revamp. They tore out all the old grass and the old deck/pergola. We received the perfect design for a tropical backyard with palm trees, jacarandas, new grass, and new concrete. This was a while back otherwise we probably would have done drought tolerant. Anyways the backyard was a dream by the time the lights were installed. It was not only a pleasure to hang out during the day but also at night with the comfortable ambiance and fire pit. I have recommended POL to many friends and family since and will consider them again in the future.
Had an above average experience. For starters the project was finished so fast. I feel like when it comes to any kind of construction project I just expect the project to go way over schedule, this was not the case. The only problem I had was not being able to decide which styles to go with which took me some time to decide but after I knew what I wanted the designer was accommodating and flexible. I was told the back patio would be done in 7 days and it was. That was just one cool thing about it. The crew was super nice. There was no mess afterwards. Or while they were working on the pavers which has bugged me with other companies in the past. Pavers look great, they match the house. I wish I could do more to my yard but will definitely call back when I'm able to.
A female ‘designer’ showed up 15 minutes late. She texted me two minutes prior to her scheduled time of arrival and was unapologetic about it. Upon arrival she very briefly introduced herself then asked who replaced our driveway (we had Pacific outdoor living out for an estimate on the driveway job previously) and then proceeded to ask me why I had them out again for another estimate if we chose another contractor to do our driveway. That was pretty much the end of the conversation for me but I thought I’d let her give us an estimate for our back yard work for fun. From there she directly asked me what I did for a living and what my budget was no small talk. She went on to give a fairly outrageous bid for the work. When I told her that some of her pricing was exceptionally high she went on to make the soft accusation that I was speaking with contractors that were not of the same caliber as the ones employed by her company. When I told her that we go strictly off of Angie’s list and only the highest rated companies she didn’t have a reply. The overall feeling of our conversation was that her company was expensive and that’s just the way it was. She pretty much said that they do not give competitive bids at her company.Almost felt like she was trying to talk me out of the project. Her overall tone and demeanor were arrogant and even if she came in low I wouldn’t of been interested. Our conversation ended when she realized I wasn’t the one and as she was walking out she told me ‘well at least I got out of the office today.’ Congratulations… We’ll be doing our six-figure project elsewhere.

To say that my husband and I had an extremely disappointing experience is an understatement. We originally hired Pacific Outdoor Living to design and construct the entire exterior of our home. We were up front from the beginning that we wanted to do the entire front yard and then circle back to the backyard after. That being said they did the construction to the front yard which went fine but once we followed up to start planning the logistics and actual finialized numbers and design for the backyard we were strung along from December 2016 until finally after an absurd amount of follow up at the very end of July 2017 we are told they do not feel comfortable doing the job. Then why did they not say that from the beginning so we could have found a more professional company to work with? By the way the thing that they felt uncomfortable with was that we have a small part of our deck cantilevered which the 7 companies we have met with since have all said will be no issue at all. I have included the follow up we had to do because I think it is important prospective clients see we are not exaggerating in any way. On top of that we recently pulled out a bush that separated our home from our neighbors and we realized they did not complete the wall to the end of our property line. Now we have a large space with an unfinished wall and I followed up to ask them to come out and finish it and we even offered to pay for it even though the plans clearly state the wall will extend until the end of our property line. After following up more than 3 times over a month I finally was told by our contact Glen that “Trent” doesn’t believe it’s cost effective for us for them to come complete his job and we should have the company we hire to do the back complete the job. I AM NOT KIDDING! Be warned, I highly recommend you do not hire this company. I am in sales and the fact that the client has had to follow up as much as we did as well as reach out to the owners and never hear back is insane. There are so many great companies out there...and this is sadly clearly not one of them. In case we still haven’t convinced you otherwise please feel free to read the timeline my husband had emailed the owner about our experience which was left shockingly yet again unanswered: December 19, 2016—we reached out interested in doing our back yard were told you would “pull some numbers and “get them over to us in the following week” January 22, 2017— after not hearing anything we followed up again we reach out again noting that we have tried 3 times in the last month to get some numbers and were told the delay was “entirely your fault” and that we would “have the info this week” January 30, 2017—we received an email that was not really what we were asking for, but close, so we wanted to book a meeting to discuss April 7, 2017—we have our meeting and my wife goes over, in detail, what we are looking for, you promise her updated numbers will be available very soon April 12, 2017—we reach out about the line of credit option you mentioned and follow up again on numbers April 18, 2017—you let us know you have “been backed up” and that you will “have our estimate by the end of the week” April 30, 2017—after not hearing anything we followed up again May 2, 2017—after not hearing anything we followed up again May 3, 2017—you reply that you will “contact us Friday” May 7, 2017—after not hearing anything we followed up again to which you do reply letting us know everything will be “wrapped up by Wednesday” May 13, 2017—we still don’t have anything but you email to let us know you’re going to get with estimating“today or Monday” May 17, 2017—we get an email that does not contain what we spent all that time going over in our meeting, which we point out to you May 20, 2017—you say that you understand now and will “get with estimating this week” May 29, 2017—after not hearing anything we followed up again May 30, 2017—you reply saying that it is now your busy season, but you’ll “follow up” for us June 4, 2017—after not hearing anything we followed up again June 5, 2017—you let us know that you got a commitment we will have numbers by “Friday” June 17, 2017—you email us that there are some facts about the layout that make our job a little more difficult, to which we immediately reply we understand but still want to see if you guys can produce an estimate June 29, 2017—after not hearing anything we followed up again to which you reply letting us know everything will be done by “the end of the business day tomorrow” July 6, 2017—you let us know we should have our estimate “next week” July 28, 2017—you let us know that you recommend a structural engineer August 1, 2017—you give us someone else’s phone number

Pacific Outdoor Living were top notch from start to finish. The job was relatively small (40' pathway), but required demo and removal of existing concrete up 2 flights stairs). The sales team was responsive, and at first we thought the cost of the job seemed expensive. We went with Pacific as the sales team/bidding process was very professional, informative and engendered trust that they would deliver. Following acceptance of the bid, there was some difficulty getting the job scheduled, but once the job was initiated - it went very smoothly, and quickly. We could not be more pleased with the results. We had questions and concerns during the job, that were quickly responded to. The crews were all very professional and cleaned up after themselves and the job. We will make only one call next time we have a paving stone need!

Pacific Outdoor Living did an excellent job from start to finish. The representative Ken, who sold us the job was very professional and clear in his description. Once the job was scheduled it went quickly, like clockwork. The crews were on time and worked hard. They were polite and neat. We had two problems on the job which were both solved immediately by POL; one a scheduling issue, as I'd requested a day between demo and starting work, so that my gardeners could eradicate some running bamboo, and the other, a small issue with the grade of the pavers . In each case, the team was responsive and resolved the issue immediately. The results are amazing, and I am only disappointed we didn't complete the work years earlier!

I chose Pacific Outdoors because I felt Zach (landscape consultant) understood what I pictured in my head. I had called others, one company told me they don't do anything under $10K and another called me days later and said he was too busy. I admit I under estimated the cost of material and labor that goes into just doing a minimal project like mine so I was little disappointed I couldn't get a pergola due to the fact my area was not in code, I also researched a shade sail but that was another no go cost wise. I think the workers did a wonderful job and Jorge who was the supervisor took responsibility when the steps I requested were not the right size but it was all corrected that very same day. They also honored a $500 coupon which always helps the cause.
Description of Work: I had them rebuild my back steps with pavers, they removed some old pavers in an adjacent area with the new pavers that matched the steps. I had another small area near the pool covered with artificial turf and another side area near my pool pump covered with gravel. They planted about 62' of plants and ground cover and included a irrigation system hooked up to my existing sprinkler system.

I waited to put up a review for Pacific Outdoor Living until I could give a full story. Our goal was to fix up our backyard which had never been 'scaped before. We had POL put in a patio of pavers with a grill placed and landscape the entire backyard. We also had an in ground water fountain set up. The job went as planned on time. The different crews were extremely polite and respectful. Very professional. The job turned out beautifully but there were some issues, which thankfully POL has been willing to address. To start, they are a solid pavers company. That is their absolute strength. They know what they are talking about here. The patio and grill are awesome. We had it set with electrical wiring for both an outdoor fridge and a countertop outlet. We also had them run conduit over to a spot where we later installed a jacuzzi. They did a fantastic job. We hired them to also do the landscaping and as we learned, while they do this well, it is not their 1st expertise. They provide this in order to do complete jobs. I suspect there is always going to be loss of some vegetation after installation. This is probably the one thing you can't guarantee but there are other companies we got estimates from where landscaping was clearly their primary expertise. Nevertheless, POL has always owned anything that didn't go perfectly. The landscaping looked great but some of the sod and some of the water resistant plants didn't survive. They replaced whatever needed to be replaced. Even after the summer heat wave and drought where we were limited to watering the lawn to twice a week and had grass die. They listened to my issues which they agreed were not my fault. They owned up to the fact that the sprinkler zones were not perfectly laid out. More than a year later, they came out and just added an additional zone for the lawn, replaced some of the ground cover. In addition, the outlet on our new grill/counter shorted out with the heavy rains this winter as somehow water managed to seep under the covered outlets; they replaced this as well. It would have been more ideal if everything turned out perfectly from the beginning but with these projects, one has to assume there will be some issues. What you want is a company that stands by its work and will not balk at fixing things. POL owned it all and has impressed me by doing so. I am so impressed that I am buying a new batch of mulch from them. I would hire them again even with the landscaping issues because they did not walk away from the problems even after the initial three month warranty. They are a class act.

Right from the start things went well. Or salesman, Chris, presented the company's services in a straightforward fashion and gave us addresses of other projects so we could see some similar projects installed. We had other quotes for the job, one a little higher and another a lot higher. Price was not the driving factor - we just felt more comfortable working with Pacific Outdoor and the low price was just a bonus. Once we signed on the process went very smoothly. Jorge, a supervisor, came out right away and went over the details and a demolition crew showed up a couple days after that. Fun to watch these guys work - with all their big equipment they had our old concrete driveway out before noon and started preparing the bedding. The next day the installation crew arrived and went right to work. I worried that if I asked for minor changes someone would tell me it wasn't in the contract and would entail additional cost. Not the case. The two or three I asked for were done without any discussion. We anticipated the job would take five days and they were done in four. The last day was a Saturday so they didn't leave the job sitting there partially completed over the weekend. We're all done, very pleased and getting lots of compliments from the neighbors. If I have another project I won't hesitate using these good folks.

things wet well. Pavers turned out beautifully. Landscaping was beautiful. There were issues over time with sprinkler coverage and with plants or grass that died. Jonathan and his crew (Victor especially) were extremely knowledgeable, took responsibility, was very responsive to issues that arose. I respect that of a company. Things are rarely perfect. Unforeseen issues can arise. It is professional to be responsive, even outside warranty when appropriate.

The workers were very good: efficient, careful, communicative, clean, patient. The problem was the designer who sold me the job. First of all, we signed the contract but only when the project manager came with him did he notice I didn't have a water source available to provide water to the yard. So I had to spend more money on a plumber. Pacific Outdoor Living would not offer any discount since now this was an added expense for me to the job. (I had called the supervisor a few times and left messages, but never got a response back.) Another problem was that I was concerned about the irrigation of my orange tree in the backyard project - especially since they had put in my front yard 8 years ago but failed to irrigate the kangaroo paws they had put in, so those had never grown as tall as they should have and eventually died. In a series of text messages with the designer, I shared that i was concerned the water emitters would be placed just around the base of the tree rather than beyond the drip line, as there was DG on top and all around the tree. The response I got was disrespectful, saying that their guys were professionals and online isn't necessarily the way to go, and that if they took their clients advice on how to install irrigation and plants, they wouldn't be successful. I shared my source (which was UCCEE Orange County Master Gardeners) and asked for him to share his source, to which he wrote "I'm not going to send you any written material because we know what we're doing and don't need info off the internet to make sure of it." The work is guaranteed for 3 months only but it's in the heat of the summer that I'll know whether my tree is doing ok with their irrigation system, not now after several weeks of heavy rain. In the end, the project manager suggested using another kind of tubing to release more water, but if my tree develops problems because the water is at its base, it won't be until down the line. I didn't appreciate the unprofessionalism from the designer.

They did my front and back yards. They've been good about correcting things, like water not getting to the plants. After many months, I finally I noticed that some of the plants were not getting water. They remained small and I took this picture. I called them and left a message for someone, got an email back from Jonathan that day saying it would be dealt with. I've been waiting 5 days so I wrote an email back checking in. They sent someone to fix. The drip system had been installed too low and the plant above wasn't getting water. All taken care of.

Fantastic work!! Pacific Outdoor Living was such a pleasure doing business with. They have such great customer service. I emailed/called them with so many questions before and during the job. I was afraid I was going to drive them crazy, but they were always happy to help with the decision making. It was a pretty big job, and everyone involved was nice and professional, and they finished right on schedule. The paving stones look so much better than our old asphalt driveway. Everyone who walks by pays us compliments. I think it really improved our curb appeal. Highly recommend!
Description of Work: Remove old asphalt driveway and dead lawn, put in new paving stone driveway/patio in new location.

They seemed to be the most reasonably priced for what I was asking to do. They were more open to my idea and worked with me to get what I want. They did what they said they would do. They were on time. They cleaned up after themselves everyday, so the place looked decent even though it was torn up. The workers were very good. Someone commented on how respectful they were. I would call them if I had a problem.
Description of Work: The re-landscaped my property.
