They did an outstanding job. I am really thrilled and they have a great warranty. They are very professional. Their craftsmanship is excellent and it has held up quite well. They are the only company to guarantee materials and labor for a lifetime. The owner came out the day they started to discuss the plans with me. I liked that. The workers were very friendly and responsive. It looks beautiful and it is a work of art.
Description of Work: They are contractors that I used. They installed a new driveway and front walkway. The driveway is made of paver stones.

First, I found it to be a fascinating process. I was first impressed by the responses on Angie's List, especially one that reported a problem and then the response by the company. The company took complete responsibility for the problem and resolution. A rare combination. Mike, the sales rep, was very laid back. Even after contracting with them, they accommodated my delay while new fencing and gates were installed. The crew was absolutely fantastic. Artists in motion. Each member of the team sent to my house was polite, professional and sincere in their task of providing a beautiful and functional drive and backyard environment. They added special touches and incorporated a brick I have from the dugout wall of Wrigley Field. My wife, family and friends could not be more impressed. When an issue would arise, Trent, the owners son and basic boss of all, was open-minded and fair. There was NEVER a time I felt he was compromising my job or my business. This job went well over the time they alloted. There was no attempt to cut corners or compromise the integrity of their work or follow through with small issues that needed to be corrected. This is being submitted about five months after the work was done for a couple of reasons. One, I have been remiss in my responsibility to write this, but more so, I wanted to wait for a good rain to see what drainage issues might arise. I have now gone through the rains of fall 2008 and have had no problems what so ever. If you want a great company, doing exceptional and professional work, with a team that takes pride in their product and an owner that is very customer friendly. This is the company to do business with (yes, I ended with a preposition, for those of you who notice).
Description of Work: We had our dust bowl backyard paved (coined word), our front drive widened and new walkway to the house and front door. They had to excavate and clear old flagstone and cement drive; grade and level backyard to create a nice outdoor living space and place for a spa.

The salesman Brian was on time, gave a detailed description of the work and presented options for the pavers and installation. Trish the scheduler was flexible and very helpful. She called the day before to make sure things would progress smoothly. The crew arrived on time and became a whirlwind of precision. Felipe the job foreman was very professional and courteous. He would check in every day and ask how things were. On the on site Foreman was terrific. He and Felipe worked together very well to coordinate the job and had very helpful suggestions during the job to make it a better project. The workers busted their butts and did an amazing job! They cleaned up everything afterwords and finished earlier than estimated.
Description of Work: Job required demolition of old driveway and old concrete walkways. Roots had to be removed and dirt excavated from the site. A brick wall had to be trimmed as well as a concrete patio.

Very well. We set a date. They came promptly, brought their materials with them. In a single day they tore out the old concrete driveway and prepared the ground under it, set the pavers and finished them off. They placed a root barrier and on my request installed two PVC pipes under the driveway for electricity and/or pipe access. Very courteous, took advice, even left the leftover pavers for me for other purposes in our garden.

Everything very professional, from start to finish. No-pressure sales. Only thing was when I called, the person said they wouldn't do anything under 6,000 dollars, even before I spoke with him. My driveway was small, and I was charged almost twice as much per square foot because the job was small. They did explain this to me, however, and I just said yes because I had to go out of town and wanted the job done. Perhaps I should have gotten 3 other bids, as always recommended. My bad. But the job was done beautifully, in a short time, with nice professional workers who cleaned up after themselves. Confirmed the times beforehand, showed up on time, and followed up with a call to see how the job went. Company I have now doing something(who shall remain nameless)needs babysitting every step of the way. Not these people. They even sent me a bottle of wine afterwards. Of course, I really paid for it.

Overall, P.P. was very professional, and accommodating. I highly recommend.
Description of Work: Pacific Pavingstone installed pavers in our driveway and backyard. The salesman provided us with a list of client le who used their service. He encouraged us to drive around to some of the houses they serviced to see if there was a certain color and style we liked. We saw many houses and fell in love with 1 particular driveway they serviced 2 years ago. I placed an order for that EXACT color scheme and dimensional style that I fell in love with. The crew was very polite and professional. Unfortunately, when I got home from work (after 1/2 of it was installed) I noticed right away this didn't look like the same drive way I fell in love with. I placed several calls with the salesman which were not returned right away. Finally, I got a hold of the co-owners son, Trent, who was very accommodating and drove out to my house that very same day. I explained to the owner that this IS NOT the same driveway I chose. He insisted that these were the same color pavers. Therefore, to resolve he took some of the pavers from my house to the house that they serviced 2 years ago. It was clear as plain as day that they were different. After comparing, it was explained that my pavers need to be "sealed" to change the color (darken) to the driveway I liked. This would cost additional $1,600, but the owner split the cost with me ($800 I pay). After my driveway was sealed, it was very much to my satisfaction. The customer service with P.P. was very good and I do recommend. However, I strongly encourage the consumer if you are going to look at their client le list and drive around to find one you like, MAKE SURE, you take the pavers to the house you like to compare if they are the same. Sometimes, the color schemes change slightly. Don't just go by pictures in a book!

We got competitive bids from several companies, and Pacific wasn't the most expensive or the cheapest. But they wanted our business and were willing to compromise on the price. The job started out well, and they had to coordinate their work with the work of a company remodeling our pool. There were different crews that did different aspects of the job, and we liked Joachim, the supervisor we had for the majority of the time. He was responsive, his crew worked well together, and he checked their work and made sure things were done right. The job was a big one, and at some point they started to get behind. Then Joachim went on vacation. Some days we got only half a crew. After Joachim left we felt the quality of the work went down. The crew didn't always have the equipment they needed. We had to ask them to redo an area that wasn't done right. Then Matt, in accounting, started sending us statements that our account was past due. Our contract clearly stated that we had a deposit, one progress payment, and one completion payment. We refused to make our completion payment until the job was done, however, sticking to the terms of our contract. Almost all the work was done really, really well, and we are very happy with the result. But they pulled their best people off the job at the end and tried to cut a few corners just to get the job finished.

The miscommunication between the employees at this place is amazing. The first person who was spoken with said he would order the part and it would be in 4 weeks later. It's two months later, the wrong part was ordered. No one ever called back to say that the part had arrived. To their benefit, employees did leave, and there was something else going on, but still...two months? I liked this place because it was a local place, specializing in ponds. The retail store is nice, but I can think of other places to spend money at. They are trying to resolve this issue, but I won't change the grade until then.

Contacted them via email. Prompt response via phone. They came out to review and recommended that we contract with one of their designers to do a complete plan. Todd did the plan and we then got a formal estimate from Pacific Outdoor Living (Mike). Work was scheduled to start within a week and completed within 3 days; very efficient and very well done. Follow up work included installation of a fountain.

There were a few problems; however, Pacific Outdoor Living fixed everything until I was satisfied. They stand by their policy that "The customer will be 100% delighted with the work performed and the final product will be beyond the customer's expectations." Some of the issues were: 1) gash in front door 2) holes in house foundation so the dirt disappeared in planters 3) left sand and gravel in neighbor's yard 4) chocolate stains on pavers 5) chipped paint and 6) front porch had small pavers installed as fillers and it looked strange. Pacific Outdoor Living fixed everything until I was completely satisfied. I would hire them again without hesitation. I do not recommend their supervisor, Raul. He added no value to the project amd he gave me wrong information. The end results are BEAUTIFUL. People have stopped to admire our new driveway.

The workers showed up on time every morning, worked hard every day, and cleaned up every evening. We had some minor damage to our new paint job that they re-reimbursed us for. WOW! If only every contractor was like this company. I signed the contract in early in the month and then went on a 2 week vacation out of town. I returned early and called to let the company know I was back. PACIFIC's job scheduler, Trish, apologetically asked if they could start earlier then I hoped for. She reviewed the job with me and when we became confused, Trish had Mike come back to check measurements and scope of work. I wanted more than we had initially agreed upon. The employees all wore PACIFIC's tee shirts so it was easy to know that these guys belonged at the job site. If I asked a question it was referred back to Felipe or the crew leader. No one made decisions without getting clearance from their boss AND me. Both the demolition crew and the installation crews worked well together, more of a team than a crew. Near the end of the job, they were vibrating sand between the pavers and my house began to rock. Just as I was getting up to tell them that the vibrations were too much for my 1938 house, we had a 5.8 earthquake! No damage, but what a way to end the job! I will be remodeling my backyard within the next two-three years. I fully expect to hire PACIFIC to reprise their role for that job. I even intend on asking for the same crews.
Description of Work: PACIFIC representative Mike Wilson arrived on time for appointment and provided job cost at that time. We set an approximate start date. PACIFIC demo'ed front landing and steps, removed excess dirt, leveled work areas and installed approx 600 sqft of interlocking pavers along side and front of house, rebuilt front landing to include both steps and ramp of interlocking pavers. The prep work included laying PVC pipe for future sprinklers, jack-hammering out the solid concrete steps and patching the stucco where a decorative wall was removed. Construction included individual paver saw cuts for edging around existing/remaining landscaping and at edges of public sidewalk and driveway and curbs. PACIFIC assigned a job supervisor, Felipe Melendrez, who checked in regularly with his crew and me; he realized at the job start that the pavers at the side of the house needed to be sloped to provide drainage away from the house and brought it to my attention. Most materials were picked up and the site was clean to my satisfaction when the job was done.

Job went very smoothly. We had to coordinate the pavers with an electrician (we were also installing an electric gate), a contractor (installing an arbor over the driveway he had to set footings) and our irrigation installer (conduit added through front step for electric wires) and they were all in sync. You can watch a video on their website that shows all the steps of demo and installation. The landscape contractor had also suggested a new curved step to our front porch. It looks great and there were a lot of cuts to get the edging curved! Whole job took about 3 days. We had one problem with the pavers that were placed on our existing front porch when it rained, the water wicked up through the pavers and up the house wall stucco. I called and they sent an inspector the next day. We decided that just the front porch pavers needed to be sealed, which they did right away and without any additional charge. Next time it rained, no wicking. We love our back patio/driveway and walkway. We get lots of compliments on the pavers and a few neighbors have gotten Pacific's number and called. We later saw they installed pavers at the Pasadena Showcase House.
Description of Work: We needed our old, cracked cement driveway/back patio replaced, as well as our cement front walkway. Called Pacific Pavingstone and they set up an appointment with in a few days. They came out, measured and figured out a rough estimate on site. We also wanted to replace our concrete front walkway and they suggested a nice curve. When we finalized the area/patio shape, they returned with sample paver colors. They even supplied us with addresses in the neighborhood where we could go and look at their work as well as the colors. (Note: we worked with a landscape contractor to determine the shape of the patio curved and they drew up a plan to give Pacific. If your area is a simple shape, you won't need this step. After seeing the plan, I figured I could've done this myself.)

We were extremely pleased with the overall job from the beginning to the end. This is well-run company that has a lot of experience in both paving stones and ponds. We first met with Karen Meinhardt, one of their landscape designers, who spent a few hours with us listening to our backyard goals and taking measurements. She came back with some preliminary designs that we modified and finally agreed on (note that Karen is not an architect but has a great feel for the business as well as ponds and pavers so she was truly a one-stop shop). The work was amazingly well orchestrated. The work took five days for a crew of about six. Carlos led the effort in designing and building the pond while Joaquin and team removed the concrete and grass, leveled the ground, installed drainage, installed the paving stones, and sealed them. The team was amenable to our comments as the work progressed. They really wanted us to be happy with the job. The craftsmanship is truly apparent. It's been 3 months since they completed the job and my wife and I are thrilled with the end result. We've had a couple follow-up issues since then and Pacific Pavingstone was responsive in both cases. We highly recommend them for both paving stones and ponds.
Description of Work: Replaced grass and concrete area in our backyard with paving stones and a 9 ft x 12 ft fish pond.
