New-Pipe Plumbing & Rooter

This was my first hire from Angie's List. I was nervous, but New-Pipe's rating is extremely high and I know why. Greg came over and gave me an estimate that was half of what everyone else was quoting me and to my surprise, he said he could do the job the next morning. He and his crew showed up on time, went right to work, got the job done in a couple of hours and had everything cleaned up and looking great when they left. I couldn't have asked for a smoother experience.

They were quick and efficient and cleaned up very well afterwards. The narrowness of the crawl space posed several problems, but they cheerfully battled through each one. I was very pleased and relieved to get this difficult job done well with minimum effort on my part.

The first serviceman who arrived was prepared for (as my call had described) a minor shower drain problem. When he realized it was more serious than that, he contacted a co-worker-a terrific guy named Ashot-who worked me into his day and arrived only about thirty minutes later. He quickly diagnosed the problem, did a major drain clean-out for me, and solved the problem in short order. He was incredibly clean when going in and out between house and yard. And he not only honored the Angie's List discount, but tossed in a couple of minor faucet fixes I needed. After so many bad experiences with plumbing companies, I'm keeping New-Pipe's card handy for my next emergency. They're an absolute go-to company.

Stephan and his crew were punctual and very professional. They knew exactly what to do and completed the job in one day. I felt I was in good hands with New Pipe. Thanks Stephan, Stephan #2, Rony and crew!

They showed up on time, sent a written estimate as requested and completed the work VERY quickly.

When I called to make an appointment, I was told someone could come out the next day, but I said I needed someone on Saturday. No problem. Mike arrived at 10:00 am for a 10:00 am appointment. He checked the washing machine to make sure it was the valves that needed to be replaced. He went to a local hardware store to buy the valves and returned in 10 minutes. We went to the other units (6-unit building) to let them know the water would need to be turned off. I was surprised when Mike said it would only be 15 minutes. He finished the job in less than 15 minutes. A job well-done! I would definitely call New-Pipe again.

They were on time, professional and cleaned up after themselves. They were also very courteous. This was not an easy job because he had to deal with a front yard that was just newly excavating and had a lot of hills and uneven teran. I cannot say enough good about.

All the workers were professional. They covered the floor in the hallways in order to minimize the dirt from the work. They gave a 10% discount for Angie's List members! After the work was done, they reviewed it with me to be sure that I was satisfied. Overall, the owner, Stephan, seems to be a good person and really cares about the work and service he provides. We were completely satisfied!

He was very nice and thorough with the service. He explained his service very well. He actually reduced the price for me as a senior and was not pushing.

I'm very happy with the quality of their work. I've had them back a few times and they give us a 5% Angie's List discount.

This was a small job, but they took care of it quickly and were willing to work around my schedule.

Went 100% perfect. He was clean, pleasant, and on time as well as knowledgeable.

They were really good. I was very satisfied. It was just one guy and he was very nice. I didn't compare it to any other place but I thought the price was fair. They actually went below their estimate by $20!

While the actual guy who came out was nice enough, their prices and their service was terrible. It was a complete waste of money and I would NOT use them again, nor would I recommend their services to anyone else

I just needed an estimate, but I was impressed that the person who came out opened up my main line, put a camera down there and measured the entire area in order to give a proper estimate. He also had some gadget that showed where the line went under my lawn and explained to me what was my responsibility and what was the City's. His price was about $1,000 higher than two other estimates, one of which was based on not really knowing the footage required, while the other was based on knowing the actual footage - but was just less money. I thought he was very professional.

I had already had the leak "fixed" twice by another plumbing company. What I did not know until the plumber from New-Pipe explained the mechanics of plumbing very thoroughly to me, is that the reason the leak keeps coming back is that my 80-year-old shower faucet and tub parts are damaged and need replacing. The plumber even removed one of the parts to show me where the damage had occurred, and why simply replacing the rubber washer over and over again is not going to cut it. While I am not pleased to know that I will need more extensive (and expensive) work than I had planned on, I know that other plumbers had not bothered to explain to me that sooner or later I could have a huge mess on my hands if my ancient and rusty plumbing gives out behind my tiled bathroom walls.

He came out this time and extended the pipe so that you don't have to get in there and break your back to attach the hose. It is much more convenient. He fixed the pipe so if you pull on the hose the pipe won't break off. Now there is a faucet handle so it is very easy to use.

Mike from New-Pipe came to see me. He arrived about 10 minutes early for his appointment. He took a few minutes to evaluate the situation with the flush. His placed his mirror under the rim and into the syphon jet hole. It showed significant mineral build-up. He asked for a wire hanger to try to loosen the build-up. He had a good go at this, but explained that it was impossible to remove this build-up completely and recommended a toilet replacement to the tune of about $500 (new toilet plus labor). Wow. Now, unfortunately for New-Pipe, I have a good relationship with a builder. I contacted him because I felt that replacing the toilet entirely was rather extreme. I thought it was suspicious to replace a toilet that was only 12 years old -- I've lived in rentals with toilets that were decades old and never had a problem with them. He explained to me that the low-flow toilets that first came out were poorly engineered and often had flush issues. However, he also explained that the mineral build-up could be remedied by using a diluted solution of muriatic acid and water poured through the overflow in the tank and left to sit for several hours. If this did not improve the flush, then replacing the toilet entirely is an option. I did not call New-Pipe to replace my toilet because we had success with the acid solution. I feel that a well-educated plumber should know about the first generation low-flow toilet issues and should have been able to give me the same information that my builder friend did. That's what I'm paying a plumber for -- to know more than me about plumbing! I might give New-Pipe another chance in the future. Their employee was prompt and polite, which is VERY important to me. Possibly the best part of this visit from New-Pipe, though, was that because Mike was unable to fix my toilet issue that day, he did not charge me. I have called other plumbers many times, and usually the first words out of their mouth is that they will charge $X just to step foot in the house, whether or not they fix a single thing. I am guessing that Mike assumed I would eventually replace my toilet, and therefore the first visit and price of fuel would be covered in their subsequent labor charge.

Overall project went great, and very fast. Called for quote on Tuesday, got a visit and quote on Thursday, gave OK on Friday, work was started and completed on Saturday! Stepan quoted somewhat higher price than 2 other plumbers, but he included flex pipe, instead of solid, which made project easier and faster, and gives me some flexibility if I need to reconfigure outlet in the future. He also threw in the toilet install at no additional charge and gave me some advice on a tub fixture problem I was having (which I then fixed myself). Essentially, no surprises or problems occurred, which in my experience is very unusual.

They did a great job. They came and gave a bid. I was happy with the bid. It was good work. They were very polite, they were on time, and very professional. I have used them several other times after.

I had a very good experience. They were punctual and lovely to have in my home. They new it was a rush job and sent enough men to get the job done. Stephen, the head guy, is a great guy who will work with you! They had a big job. I had some issues at a later date with an unrelated item and they came out, on a Sunday no less, to fix it!

Stephan came for the estimate. His men were there at the appointed time, got right to work, worked hard and were very pleasant, as well as offered helpful advice. They laid drop cloths and cleaned up thoroughly afterward. I would definitely use them again.

Drain cleaning went well but we were overcharged. We were explained that we were being charged by the foot and that it took 160 feet of cable to get to the obstruction, yet when the camera inspection took place, the obstruction was at 90 feet. They also "forgot" the Angie's List 10% discount. They also asked for an additional $600 to put in a cleanout. A second estimate for the job (performed) was $300. Basically, overcharging.

We just had the tile in our shower repaired and were concerned that the plumber would have to break the wall to repair the shower head. That did not happen. He knew exactly what to do and the repair was completed within a short time period.

It was a great experience. They had great reviews on Angie's List and they lived up to it. The price was reasonable and the job was done quickly and they called to follow up to make sure everything was great.
