It was a pretty simple repair. They did have to come back because our sink was clogged as well as the washer and dryer line was clogged. I was hoping for them to give us a bit of a discount when we called them the second time, but they didn’t. They were fine, though.

They came out, did some work, and left, but they didn't do what I asked them to do. I like them, but maybe there was a misunderstanding. The guy kept insisting that the handle went in one direction and it didn't. It was totally backwards. I don't know if I will call them back. They were very nice when they were here. But a hundred dollars was a lot of money to do the work they did. I wouldn't hire them back because they disagreed with me on things that I really needed fixed and they said they couldn't do anything about it.
Description of Work: New-Pipe Plumbing & Rooter replaced the broken stopper in the sink and fixed the mechanism. The toilet was always running and made a weird sound. They told me that it was the pipes, but they didn't do anything to it.

Generally very well, although the price seems high for the work performed (cannot compare to other suppliers, but it seems high given it took <1 hour and the hydrojet machine is relatively inexpensive). That said, Benny was very helpful and very proficient. He first came out on a Sunday (within 30 minutes of the original call), but when he explained that the $350 hydrojetting would do a far superior job than a $125 snaking, we agreed to have him do that, which required a second trip as he did not have the hydrojet equipment with him. There was no charge for the visit. He came back the next evening - right on time - and proceeded to hydrojet the drain once, then inspect it with the video. I was less than impressed with the results, as what I understood would look wide open was still very clogged with corrosion (possibly the original drain pipes from when the house was built in 1957). To be clear, I don't think the problem was in how the hydrojet was used - quite the contrary as Benny seemed very proficient - but more in the expectation that was set in pitching hydrojetting as delivering significantly better results relative to traditional snaking. Benny seemed a little surprised the results weren't better, and he agreed to run the hydrojet again after looking at the video. In any case, after the second time, we ran the washing machine and it didn't back up (which was the original problem), so I presume the drain is more open, but it was far less unclogged than I had been led to believe before agreeing to the $350 service. After finishing on that drain, he volunteered to use the video to inspect the main sewer line. All in all, the service call went smoothly. Benny was very helpful, courteous, and professional. My only reason for not giving "A" across the board was the seemingly high price given the less-than-impressive results. I thought we'd see a much cleaner drain, rather than one still so clogged that we are now considering replacing it entirely. One last little pet peeve is New-Pipe has a 10% coupon for Angie's List members, but the company is also listed under Bravo Plumbing, which only showed a coupon for savings off 4 hours of service. Bravo was listed first in the results, and I told both the dispatcher and Benny that I had found them on Angie's List, but neither volunteered that there was a coupon for Angie's List members. It would have been impressive if they would have offered the coupon discount, despite my not bringing it up. Regardless, I would use them again and will consider them if/when we decide to replace the pipe.
Description of Work: Hydrojet-cleaned the drain line from our kitchen/laundry area twice. Videoed the resulting cleaning and volunteered to video the main drain line from the house to the street to check for any damage.

Much to my chagrin, 7AM rolled around and no Stephan. At 7:15 AM, the phone rings and I answer. A man says "I am Stephan. I see they have me scheduled to come to your home between 7 and 8. I will not be able to do so." When I asked why, he said that he had an inspection he had to go to. He was not apologetic at all. Mind you, THIS IS THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY. When I asked what happened between 6PM and this morning his answer was: "Mistake." When I told him that he had inconvenienced me, he said: "I can come there afternoon." Well, that's fine for him, but I work far from my home and cannot "come there afternoon." Proceed with awareness and caution. Based upon my experience and In my opinion their word is not worthy of trust.
Description of Work: We have been planning an extensive remodel of a master bathroom. Angie's List has typically been an invaluable resource for us to find reliable contractors. Not so much with New-Pipe Plumbing. Last night at approximately 5:45PM we spoke to the office, described the job and asked if they could send somebody to review the job and plans. The gentleman asked if he could call back in ten minutes, which was perfectly fine. Just as promised, he called back and asked if Stephan, the owner, could come the next morning (today) at 7AM; he explained that Stephan always quoted remodels. I told him that 7AM worked perfectly with my schedule, but that I needed to be done by 8AM.

I called New Pipe and they scheduled me the same morning for an estimate. Benny arrived within two hours and gave me a quote of $160.00, which included a trip to the store to get a trap, since my first plumber seemed to have made off with our original. Benny ran out, was back quickly, and went right to work installing the drain. He said the pipe into the wall was dirty, and proceeded to pull out a TON of crud...ew...then finished the installation rather quickly. As he was about to leave, I asked him whether my new toilet should have been caulked around the base (something the installer did not do). He said yes, and was nice enough to stay and caulk it for me at no additional charge. Benny was quick, professional, and very polite. He also made sure to clean up well after he was finished working. While I felt the price was a little steep, I had a very good experience with this company and would use them again.
Description of Work: Had Benny from New Pipe install a bathroom sink drain.

Our kitchen sink clogged up on MLK Day, a holiday for many companies. Called New-Pipe at 2:00 pm. The receptionist was very nice and said they could have someone here between 3-4 pm. They arrived at 3 pm and were very courteous and professional. Our house is old (1930s) and has been added onto many times, so the plumbing is crazy and hard to access. They were able to snake the drain and clear it, and had suggestions for things we could do in the future to make our plumbing easier to deal with. It was helpful, not trying to sell us anything. We will not hesitate to call them again.

I was informed by my water filter company that the water pressure coming from the street was way too high and that was because I had a very outdated water pressure regulator. I purchased a new water pressure regulator ($90 plus tax at Anawalt) per the specifications given to me by my filter guy. And the next day New Pipe came over to install the new part. Promptly arrived at 9am, the plumber, A Shot (his name,) was very friendly and direct. He quoted me $215 for the job, but I told him that I had been advised that $175 would be a fair price for the work. And he said that because I came from Angie's list that he would honor the price that I know is fair. So $175 it was. A Shot was done in about 25 minutes, gave me his card and said to call him directly if there were any problems or leaking. He checked off the "1-year warranty" box on the paperwork, which pleased me very much. I would definitely use New Pipe again.

Last evening I went to install a new kitchen faucet. When I turned the water off I noticed that the galvanized waterline leading into the house had corroded and had a hole and was leaking. At 10 at night I called New-Pipe. Stefan called me back in 5 minutes and said he would have his technician call. 5 minutes later Jack called. He said he would be there in about 30 minutes which was great because I had to turn off the water and we had no water in the house. He arrived as promised. He began the repair and then showed me other holes in the pipe and recommended that we open up the wall and replace the pipe. He was very patient and explained everything. He was not trying to sell me more repairs. Everything he said and showed me made sense (It was really clear after he removed the pipe and showed me how corroded it was) I agreed and he and I discussed that it would be better to do that work during the day. I said we needed our water on (my wife and I both work at home) so could he come early. He told me he would be there at 7. At EXACTLY 7 Jack showed up. He replaced the pipe, installed the faucet that I was going to install and even replaced our water filter which just happened to show up that day in the mail. He cleaned everything up and equally important was friendly to our dog! I am very pleased with the work that was done, the promptness, the attitude, professionalism of the company and particularly Jack who was great. Was the price fair? I think it was for the amount of work he did. Maybe I could have gotten it done for less, but at 10pm you do not think about those things and the fact that it was such a positive experience made it worth whatever extra I may, if any, have paid. A good experience all the way around.

The main sewer drain backed up on a Sunday. New-Pipe plumbing came out on Sunday and found that there was no clean-out on the main sewer drain. The house was built in 1938. They originally gave an estimate of $1,100 to dig down to the drain, install a cleanout, and rooter the drain. After digging down to the drain pipe and upon inspecting it, extensive growth of roots was found throughout the length of the drain pipe. They used a video camera and showed the images to me. At that point New-Pipe recommended replacing the main sewer drain. They were willing to rooter the existing drain for the agreed price of $1,100.00, but said that because of the extent of the roots, they could not guaranty the job. Their initial proposal to replace the main sewer drain was $4,200.00, but after a short period of negotiating, we agreed on $3,000.00. New-Pipe encountered more work than they expected and the job took two full days to complete - about double the time they expected. I was kept informed of the progress of the job at all times. Their workers were on the job on time and everyone was courteous and professional. Even though the repair cost much more than I initially expected, I believe the price was fair and I would definitely use New-Pipe again.

With two distinct plumbing problems, I did a search on Angieslist and called the plumber with the most positive reviews. I had a broken garbage disposal and a slow drain the master bathroom. I called new pipe plumbing at about 9 a.m. and they told me they would have a plumber to my house between noon and 2. I had errands to do so I ran out and returned quickly so I would be there when the plumber arrived. By 2, there was no plumber and no call from new pipe. I called back and they told me the plumber was on his way and would be there in half an hour. Forty minutes later, the plumber arrived. I could not have asked for a more courteous or professional plumber. Really, he was not the problem. Robert came in and addressed the problem with the garbage disposal. The disposal was spinning freely, no popped breaker, but it was buzzing and not working. Another plumber may have sold me a new disposal and install - an 800 dollar job - but Robert worked until it was fixed and charged 95 dollars. The problems came when we went to the slow drain. Robert looked at the problem and explained he did not have a snake on his truck, so he could not do the job. He said his dispatch told him it was something else. I could not imagine what the told him. He said he would return the next day at 9 a.m. with the right tools. He looked at it and said there was one drain to be snaked, it was a flat fee and it would be 140 dollars. I agreed. At 8 a.m. new pipe left a message on my phone to call back urgently. I got the message at 9 and returned the call to be told Robert had an emergency and would not be able to make it. Would I be available the next day or in the late afternoon. Since it was the 31 and I was not available on New Year's Eve and did not want to spend New Year's Day with a plumber I told them I was not and they did not have to send anyone. I would call someone else who could take care of it in one stop, as they should have. The woman explained they thought I would want Robert to come back since I knew him already. I thought this was odd since I did not know him before he came out either and while he was a very nice guy, there was no special rapport. I agreed to have another plumber come out. They told me another plumber would be there in an hour. He was not. I called again and he showed up a bit later - around 10:30. The plumber went upstairs, flushed the toilet, looked around and said it would be 280 dollars. I told him I was quoted 140 the day before and he asked if I came through Angie's List. I said yes, and he said then you get a 20% discount. I asked why it was twice the price and he told me because there was a flat fee of 140 per snake and I had two plugs. The reality, as we could tell by flow of water from one drain to the other, is I had one plug before the main which was stopping his and hers sinks, the shower and the tub from draining. I also have a t connection between the his and hers sinks and no clean out, so there is only one location from which to snake. If he tried to snake through either sink it would only go through to the other side. But since he was there and I wanted the work done, I did not argue and agreed to let him do the work. Robert warned me about unscrupulous plumbers who will quote services which will not be performed, he probably did not know his colleague was one of them. After an hour and a half he came down to me and told me he could not fix it, my pipes were old and I must have a broken pipe. I went up to check and saw 5 inches of black, sediment filled water in my tub and my shower. It was completely stopped and filthy. The hair he snaked out was sitting on the floor next to the shower and the bathroom was a mess. I asked if he would be able to fix it and he said he did not know. I asked what to do next and he said I don't know, crack the wall open? I have to call my boss to take a look . . . "Do you have an advice?" Advice? I told him he was the professional and that is why I called him but now the problem was worse. He then said it was not worse, he simply ran more water than I did. Now, I took a shower in that bathroom that very morning, and every morning for the past month with a slow drain. It was slow, but the water drained, now it was stopped. I am not a plumber, but to me, stopped is worse than slow. After the request for advice, the mess he was going to leave while he waited for his boss, I told him to leave my house. He took his tools, went to his truck and called his boss from the front of the house. I got a call from George, the head of dispatch who instructed me he was not a plumber. George told me the guy who came to the house had been with them for 10 years and was their best plumber and they really wanted to make me happy. I explained to George that Robert, the first plumber was great, but he was unprepared to do the job I called in for and the company called at the last minute to cancel the appointment. Strike one. Then they sent someone out who immediately quoted me double the price of the guy the day before. Strike two. Then the new plumber snidely asked me whether I had advice on how to fix it and argued that the worsened situation was not worse. Strike three. I asked George whether he would trust this company to send someone else out to his home and ultimately, he acknowledged he would not. The next morning I got a call from Stefan the owner. I called back because Roto Rooter, the company I called after new pipe and who showed up well within their 1 hour window, was encountering a stop with their snake. I called Stefan to find out whether their plumber had broken his snake, or left a blade in my pipe. Stefan told me this was impossible, it was probably a broken pipe and it was my house, not their work. I asked for him to please contact his plumber to tell me the truth so I could address the issue, I was not looking to assign blame, just fix my drain. He said it did not happen. I don't know who he can say this without talking to the plumber, but, ok. He also told me sometimes a stoppage happens before a slow drain is fixed, so the plumber may not have made it worse. Again, this is odd to me since before he came my shower was usable and after it was not. Then, while I was on the phone with him, Roto Rooter broke through the stoppage. I explained this to Stefan and said goodbye. When I returned to the bathroom I found the Roto Rooter plumber had not only fixed the leak but he scrubbed down and removed the sediment left by the new pipe plumber. Certainly something I did not expect him to do. In summary, with all the positive reviews for the company, I do not know whether my experience is an aberration or something else, but I do know I will stay away from new pipe plumbing.

The person answering the phone was very friendly and said that they could be to my home between 4 & 5 (it was 3:00 at the time). He showed up shortly after 4:00 (maybe 4:10 or so) and explained that he'd probably have to pull the dishwasher out and clear the line. That is exactly what he did which fixed the problem. He was very courteous, friendly and profession (his name is Jack).

Stephan is a courteous, punctual, and thoughtful professional. He met me at the house to give an estimate, which was at least $1,500 lower than his competitors. He and his team worked underneath the house in the pouring rain to ensure that the work was complete in time for my move-in date. His team began work on a Thursday morning, and the work was completed and approved by the building inspector by the following Tuesday morning. I was thoroughly impressed with his professionalism, quality of work, and the speed at which his team completed the task. I will definitely use him again the next time I need plumbing work done.
Description of Work: I had just purchased this home, and it needed a lot of plumbing work. Stephan and his guys replaced all of the water supply lines with copper, replaced the hot water heater with a 50 gallon model, replaced all of the aging waste lines with PVC, replaced the faucets in the kitchen, replaced the fixtures in the shower, HydroJetted the sewer lines, repaired all of the holes in the interior and exterior walls, and got the work permitted and inspected by the city.

Working in an office that operates out of a 100 year old house, repairs often come up unexpectedly and of course never at a good time! Both bathrooms suddenly became non-functional, with pipes throughout the house spontaneously gurgling and overflowing all on their own. We contacted the landlord Friday evening before we left for the weekend to alert him to the situation who never showed up so we jumped onto Angie's list first thing Monday and discovered New-Pipe and all their rave reviews. Ashot came out within an hour and half - and it was a super rainy Monday in Los Angeles so of course the traffic and weather were equally horrid. Ashot was pleasant, professional, upfront about the costs and took the time to explain the problem both to us and our off-site 'cheapest man alive' landlord. He took the care to cover his wet shoes with shoe covers whenever he came into the house - which was often since he had to go in and out to deal with the main pipe access. Estimate for the emergency work was very reasonable so the landlord agreed to the minor expense. Unfortunately, the additional work (tree roots in the ever-deteriorating pipes in aforementioned 100 year old house) was over 2k which the landlord balked at 'til he could come into town to inspect the situation himself (he had already promised us he'd be here at 9:30 this am but never showed). Ashot spoke to the landlord, offering to come back, free of charge, at the landlord's convenience, to show the landlord the serious condition of the old pipe. Amazing. We will definitely be contacting New-Pipe again. New-Pipe ROCKS! Thanks Ashot! And Thank you Angie's List! : )
Description of Work: Inspected and snaked 2 toilets. Replaced valve in one. Cleared and capped an old laundry pipe in the kitchen (which was gurlgling and eventually stinking to high heaven). Inspected and snaked main pipe up to tree root blockage. Contacted landlord to give overview and explanation of work performed and estimate of work that needs to be done at some point in time.

Stephen met with me on Saturday and gave a reasonable estimate. The job was tentatively scheduled pending my getting plumbing fixtures. We and New Pipe were able to stick to that schedule. The plumbers came on time and got the job done in the time estimated (two days). They made some useful suggestions regarding placement of the bath/tub fixtures and made sure we would be happy with the results. The bathroom is in a 70 year old house with a crawl space. We had previously exposed the walls and floor to the studs/joists. The new plumbing was tied in to the old vents in the attic to avoid any new holes in the roof. New drain pipes were installed even where (for the tub) the old ones could have been used. We were completely satisfied with the results, as was the City inspector. We would hire New Pipe again.

I already knew of problems I had with my main sewer line, which I had previously put off repairing with rooter services until it became so damaged my line was completely clogged. New-Pipe came out right away and correctly identified the problems I had. It took 2 days. Both days they were very responsive, proactive and considerate. They showed up exactly when they said they would and left the yard in nice condition when they finished. (They had to dig holes at 2 entry points.) Their bid was a bit less than other bids due to the angie's list referral so definitely mention that when you call.

They opened the drain, and told me the leak was from a hole in the garbage disposal. They quoted me a price to fix the disposal which seemed very high, and it being Saturday could not get the part till Monday. I told them no and just paid them for the drain opening. I checked with another plumber on your list and found one near by for less money, who had the part and could do it right away. That plumber was Michael's Plumbing. He was willing to come over and do the job that afternoon. As it was Halloween I suggested waiting till Monday. He said he could come on Sunday morning if that worked for me at no extra charge. He came, did the job very quickly and professionally at the quoted price. I will not only use this guy again, but will recommend him to all my friends.
Description of Work: My drain was stopped and there was leaking under the kitchen sink.

They came over to examine the problem and they came back the following day with all the parts that they needed to do the work. Their pricing was reasonable and the quality of their work was good.

They came with 30 min of promised time. They began the work, and started stating various other charges that "must" be done...they are rip off artists, and appear to be "padding" the costs. Paying $400 for my drains and toilets to work is outrageous, then within a few weeks the exact issue happened again. I called them to honor their work, they came and tried to charge me another $400 to redo their unprofessional and substandard service.
Description of Work: Unclogging of the main drain, from the roof.

Response from New-Pipe Plumbing & Rooter
We did not charge the customer $400, it was $355 to be exact. Also not to undermine the customers knowledge in the plumbing industry but we performed a HYDRO JET SERVICE from the roof of the property, that service alone is valued at a much higher price and I am extremely confident that not one company would beat our price for this job. We are not crooks and we only charge by the job, not by the hour, it is not fair for us to send two technicians, with a hydro jet machine, put them on the roof which is a high risk job for both the technician and the company. And expect to pay less than $355 Like I said, if you get this job priced with any other company it will be a lot more than $355. Ashot is one of the nicest, fairest people I know, and it is not fair for him to be called a crook. I take complaints like this very personal especially since the customer wasn't there to see the completion and the effort that was put into this call, we put the same effort into every call. Please fix this because this is just unlawfully unfair. Not to mention we included a under house inspection of all the pipes and fittings. Stephan Zamkochyan, Owner

The plumber from New-Pipe arrived on time and even donned booties (over his shoes) before entering the house. My problem was a leak, coming from the ceiling fan in a downstairs one-half bathroom. One floor above this was a full bathroom with a shower that had been used by a house guest the day before, after years of non-use. So we were fairly sure the problem rested with the plumbing leading from that shower/tub. But where, exactly, was that leak? That was the dilemma and I had visions of a plumber having to rip into the tiled wall in a quest to find the offending pipe. My plumber was a fellow named Ashot, who was GREAT. Right from the start, he was concerned about not ripping into the wall if it could be avoided. He methodically tested the various plumbing elements upstairs (toilet, sink and shower) and confirmed that the problem indeed rested with the shower. He the removed the fan mechanism from the ceiling in the downstairs bathroom and was able to confirm that the leak was coming from the connection to an elbow joint just above the location of this fan. A lucky break, we both agreed. Ashot managed to replace this elbow joint without cutting into the ceiling! He worked within the square opening (just 7" X 7") provided for the ceiling fan. He could not put the fan back in place that day (because we needed to allow time for the wood and insulation to dry, to prevent a mold problem later on) but he patiently showed me exactly how to put the fan and its housing back in place without the need to call anyone back. I will definitely use New-Pipe Plumbing & Rooter for my future plumbing needs.
Description of Work: I needed a plumber to diagnose and repair a leak of unknown origin, coming through the ceiling fan in a downstairs bathroom.

Stephan responded immediately to my phone call, and sent Steve to perform the work. Steve arrived within two hours, and cleared the stoppage. Unfortunately, the next day a bad smell came out of one toilet. This time Steve came to my house in the evening to fix the problem. Worse, on the following two days, the main line backed up again. Each time Steve arrived within a couple hours of my call. On the last of these days, a Sunday, I spoke with Stephan at 8am (he returned my call within 5 minutes), and he sent Steve (on his day off) with a camera to look into the pipes. I feel that both Stephan and Steve did everything they could reasonably do before recommending the costly replacement of old pipes. In addition, beyond the cost to clear the initial stoppage, I was not charged for any of the next 3 time-taking visits. Overall, Stephan gave us what we felt was a fair price, not only for the quality of his company's work, but for their level of service and professionalism. In the end, Steve and his crew performed a "trenchless" pipe replacement of about 20 linear feet by digging just two holes and working under the house in a very tight crawl space. Steve jokes that the new pipes are so good that he will see me again in about 20 years. But should it be sooner, I can't imagine ever using another plumber. Thank you Stephan. And thank you Steve.
Description of Work: I had a mainline sewer stoppage at my house which caused a severe sewage back-up into one of my showers. Toilets, sinks, baths, laundry -- everything connected before that stoppage -- all ceased working.
